Pacquiao offered $65M to fight Alvarez in Mexico
Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim has offered $65 million to Pacquiao to fight in Mexico next year. While the opponent was not named, reports had said Slim was looking at Saul "Canelo" Alvarez as the likely opponent.
Report says that negotiation has started and that Pacquiao was interested in the guaranteed money.
I think this news report is more credible than the allegedly $65 milion offer to Mayweather Arum has revealed as the parties to the negotiation is mentioned.
The only issue is at what weight will they fight?

Pac & Arum might jump on that, probably a catchweight or perhaps welterweight.

Re: Pacquiao offered $65M to fight Alvarez in Mexico
If I remember correctly Cotto's brother actually wobbled Alvarez early in that fight. And then they put him in with Hatton who is another naturally smaller guy (and not a big puncher as well).
If the offer is legit, Pac needs to make this fight happen and take the huge payday.

Yeah, and it would have to be a much better than Pac's fight with Mosley. If this offer is for real, the $65 million won't be an issue for Mexico's Carlos Slim, he's one of the richest men in the world, with money to burn.
The real question is: what weight would these 2 fight at, making the welterweight limit might be a problem for Canelo, so chances are it would be for Canelo's 154 lb. trinket, but at a catchweight of perhaps 150. That's my guess.

If you're Carlos Slim why isn't THAT the fight you want? 130,000 at Azteca Stadium. JMM going for some fictional fourth belt/strap?

Nah. Enough with the catch weight bullshit. For 65 million he can fight at 154.

Amazing what having some trinket & connections will do for a guy. Both get rich, again, and Pac fans get to run on about being a *Infinity* number division champion if Alvarez has to put that thing on the line.

And Alvarez fought back to back catchweight fights just recently both for titles. 1 for the prestigious silver light mw title and against the great Matthew Hatton for the regular WBC version.:p

There is no doubt Pac can still make 140 and be comfortable. Watch him ask for it.

I was just going to say the same thing VD. He would probably give Canelo 140, but not JMM.

65 millions, that's what I call the hell of a money to fight somebody who Manny has most chances to beat.

That's pretty damn good deal!
Pac would target practice his ass and knock him the fukk out in the 12th. Now that's entertainment. ;D

Would laugh my arse off if this happened and Alvarez pulls off the upset lol

Re: Pacquiao offered $65M to fight Alvarez in Mexico
No way in hell do GBP let their boy in with Pacquiao. Not for a couple of years anyway and, by then, Pacquiao would've hung up the gloves.

I guess it all depends on the money that Slim is willing to put on the table.

Re: Pacquiao offered $65M to fight Alvarez in Mexico
We are witnessing the end of boxing as we know it. If Pacman take this fight for $65M, and wins, he's going to think he deserve that kind of cash for every fight. If Alvarez somehow win, at the age of 20something, besides a rematch, where else will he get that kind of money? After this fight, we all going to call the winner, Pacman or Alvarez the new Mayweather. Wanting more and more cash that's not available.
The only fight worth that kind of money(really not worth it) is the fight that's never going to happen.

That's right. And people are pointing fingers at Floyd for hand picking opponents, go figure.
At least Canelo wouldn't be a Floyd leftover:rolleyes:.
Canelo should do what Pac does and wait until Pac starts to fade, becomes over the hill, etc. and then fight him to have a nice name in his resume.
