Robbery!! I feel so bad for Mathysse- this is the second time it happened to him ( first was his "loss" against Judah) This is the second time Alexander also has gotten a gift decision ( he should have lost to Kotelnik)

96-93 Mathysse
I had Matthysee winning by three points. The judge who had it 96-93 for Alexander is obviously on Don King's payroll.
As mush as I am a Devon fan that fight disgusted me, they robbed Matthyse twice now:mad:
I hope Mathysse gets a rematch with either Judah or Alexander. Mathysse is undefeated IMO.
I honestly believed that Matthysse was going to get the decision...
Boy was I wrong.
They fucked him royally tonight.
Fucking Cory Spinks and his bullshit hometown.
If someone scored the fight 95-94 for Alexander, I'd shake my head in mild disbelief. That would be basically giving Alexander every round but the 4th where he was knocked down and lost 10-8, the 7th, 8th, and 10th (all 3 of those rounds he got busted up).
But a judge had it 96-93 for Alexander. That means he either scored the 4th 9-9 somehow, or gave the 7th, 8th, or 10th round to Alexander. Alexander got dropped in the 4th, busted up in the 7th, 8th, and 10th.
4 ROUNDS MATTHYSE WON!!! I thought those 4 rounds could have been scored correctly by a 4yr old. But somehow a judge disagrees with me and comes up with the ridiculous 96-93 score.
Such bullshit.
You know its a shit decision when you got hometown fans booing the decision. Hopefully matthysee keeps working, looked great tonight. He needs to not let this shit deter him, and hopefully hbo gives him a fight again hopefully not in a dudes backyard. Anywhere else and lucas wins that
i agree with you fella's. this was a motherfucking disgrace to a wonderful sport.
i feel sooo bad for mathysse its not even funny. imagine all that hard work, and getting robbed....twice now, to the local hometown american fighter! makes me ashamed of my own countries actions & corruption.
and what REALLY steams me is that these fighters...judah and alexander will prob not give him a rematch ever, and they'll move on as though he wasn't a challenge to them.
and judah acts like he really won that fight.
And people are still talking about robberies in Germany. What happened to Kotelnik and now to Mathysse is shame. Some fighters just need to boycott fighting American bums in their backyard.
Matthysse got robbed. Hopefully with such a loaded division he will get another good fight, he deserves it. I don't see how the hell one judge had it 96-93 for Alexander:confused:
I'll completely eat crow. I thought Devon would dominate. Boy was I wrong. I had 96-93 Matthysse. The boos in the crowd in St. Louis should say everything. It wasn't per se a robbery (that word gets thrown around too often), but it was a bad decision. Twice I've seen Matthysse win close fights and get the short end of the stick. Devon looks ordinary. He's definitely a notch below the rest of the division. He's not as slick as he's made out to be at all. I think Matthysse took a bit out of Devon's chin too. Will Don King and Cunningham give Matthysse a rematch on neutral turf?
Two hometown fighters took debatable wins yesterday.
I thought the Judah fight was close and was not that bad of a decision. This decision was terrible. I thought he beat devon way worse than his arguable fight with Judah.
It wasnt as bad a decision as the Judah fight at all but it was still the wrong verdict. I had it 95-94 Matthysse but if I didnt have it that score it would have been 96-93 Matthysse. I can actually see how you COULD have Alexander winning 115-114 but you have to give him the close rounds (of which I thought there were 3; the 1st, 2nd and 6th), and by that logic you could just as easily have a wide Matthysse win of 97-92. 96-93 Alexander is complete bullshit, this shit makes my blood boil.
After the Sturm and Macklin fight, Sturm told Macklin he would give him a rematch because the fight could have gone either way. I hope that Devon Alexander and his team give Matthysse the honor of a rematch as well on neutral soil. Matthysse earned it. Who would you favor going into it?
I doubt devon gives him a rematch, he didn't give kotelnik one. Sturm gave that one dude a rematch when they fought to a draw, cause I think he still feels the sting from the odlh decision. And great just read the artivle and macklin is comming of as a dick, I mean ffs yeah german tv had you winning, forgot to mention that your sky sports had it a draw, just hate it when one fighter is blind to the truth.
This fight goes to show that a boxer can throw and land more punches than his opponent, knock his opponent down without going down himself, better control the pace of the fight, land more meaningful punches, and look better for wear after the fight, and still come up short on the cards.
Marble while maybe not a robbery on the scale of martinez cintron, most people seem to think lucas took it, me included. I think the reason many are pissed off is not the scale of the "robbery" but because this is the second time devon got a gift, many feel he lost to kotelnik, and many feel like its the second time lucas got screwed on american soil. I just see no way devon won that fight he wasn't landing shit imo
It's like walking into a bad neighborhood and getting robbed.
Yes, that is why Lucas lost the fight. My point was that, generally, although as this fight shows, not always, when a boxer lands more total punches, knocks another boxer down and isn't knocked down himself, controls the pace throughout the entire fight, lands more meaningful punches throughout the entire fight, looks better for wear and tear at the end of the fight, he wins the fight. Here, that didn't happen, which is why I would say the Alexander/Matthysse fight is the exception, not the rule. This last sentence was my point in the previous post.
As an aside, I had the fight close, I had Matthysse winning, but it was close for me, which is why I wouldn't call it a robbery.
Ironically, my friend and I predicted toward the end of the fight that Alexander would win a split decison though he was CLEARLY losing by a fairly wide margin. It was his hometown and he's a rising star that was coming off a loss, he was going to win no matter what unless he got KO'd. It's all boxing politics smh
Maybe I am overreacting but i was so pissed off when I heard the scores on this I turned off the TV and thought about never watching boxing again. I thought Lucas easily beat Alexander. I cant stand Alexander and cant wait til he gets stretched out....
Just caught up on this without reading anything beforehand and had to come straight on here as I couldn't believe they gave it to Alexander.
For once it appears that everyone agrees that Mathysse won this won! I don't think Alexander is a ticket seller anyway and shit like this is going to turn even more off him- hopefully we wont have to put up with him for too much longer.
I for one wont be watching his fights again, too many poor showings now and a decision like that just pisses me (and most others it appears) off.
Well, I'm in the minority, but I had Alexander winning 95-94. I was disappointed because Mathysse is one of those fighters you can't help but love, he never stops working & has deceptive speed & technique. However, having no access to the net in DC, I watched this only on TV (on 3 occasions, it was my only boxing fix) & I had Alexander taking the first 3 rounds, not that they weren't competitive, but I felt Alexander had definitely done enough. Lucas obviously had the 4th with the KD. I felt Alexander came back really well to take the 5th & 6th quite solidly imo.The 7th & 8th were big rounds for Lucas & I could see an argument for the 8th being a 10-8 although I didn't score it that way. The 9th was Alexander's round for me & it gained him a lot of respect from me for a guy I had very little time for. 10th another big round for Lucas. So I can complain at the decision, although I struggle to see where you could find another round for Alexander, because I felt when Lucas won rounds, he won them by a clear margin. It was a good fight though & made me want to see both again. I'd love Mathysse/Maidana, what a fight that would be.
I haven't been following boxing for awhile, but i watched this one a few days ago. Aswell as the other weekend fights, i thought Devon Alexander vs Lucas Mathysse was a closish fight. But i still think Lucas Mathysse won clearly especially with the knockdown, and he had some big rounds and for certain won 6 or 5 rounds.
I also thought Devon Alexander got a gift against Andriy Kotelnik, and i had him losing that fight 115-113.
I think i draw would of been the best thing to happen that fight was far to close to be called a robbery. I also just watched the fight again on hbo go and i could of gone either way far from a robbery.
