I found this quite rediculous to hear on the radio/news today that Ricky Hatton was retired. I found it bizarre because I thought he already had quite a while ago.
Was anyone under the impression Ricky was actually going to fight again?

Or spending money and shaggin around behind the missus back.....

Its been fun Ricky! Thank you for the memories.
Fair play to him. I loved watching him fight. One of my favourite ever fighters The support he had from his fans will not be seen on these shores for quite a while I'd imagine. Thanks for the memories Ricky, you had a great career.
Have you been living in a cave?
Yup it was a fantastic ride, I was a huge hatton fan i think he's bowed out gracefully. I doubt there will be a brit fighter like him any time soon.
I know VD is disappointed. I remember him saying that Hatton still had many cool knockouts in him awhile back.;D
Had some great nights at his fights the mayweather fight i will always remember las vegas was like the uk that weekend with so many english fans there. Thanx for the memories ricky on a great career.
Glad he isnt fighting again dont wanna see him lose to some1 he would of beat years ago.
Fairwell to a great boxer and great character!! Hatton provided entertaiment in and out of the ring, think his decsion to retire is a good one although i think he could still win afew more fights id hate to see him get beat by run of the mill opposion, hes only been beat by the two best men on the planet and thats something to be proid of after 45+ fights!!!
I was sure he had retired ages back. He was great to watch and always put on a show. He had a brilliant career and will be remembered for putting on great fights! Thanks Hitman!
He should have had one farewell fight against a crap fighter who he could beat up so that we can remember him on a positive note.
I am sure all the hookers in Manchester are getting a good pay day, nice one Ricky had many a good night watching you fight, the new crop of young brit fighters have a lot to live up too.
Good for you Ricky!
A fine career.
Thanks for the memories and STAY RETIRED!
Thanks Ricky. For myself, and many British fight fans, you will be remembered as one of the most exciting fighters of your generation. The devastating left hook that finished Castillo and the all out war against Kostya Tszyu have made sure of that. Your all out aggression epitomised the British bulldog spirit and on a good night you gave a more than passable impression of your Hero, Roberto Duran.

A great british fighter who knocked on the door if the elite but didn't quite get through it unfortunately. Exciting fighter and top bloke.
The mad few days in Vegas for the Mayweather fight is one of those times in life that I will never forget , and will always reflect on. Will an overseas fighter ever take such a following with him to vegas again ? I doubt it. That summed up what Ricky meant to his fans
Was expecting to hear any moment that he had agreed a deal to fight Wlad tbh, poor guy can't resist the pies, can he? At the very least you knew when you tuned in to a Hatton fight he was gonna throw the kitchen sink at the other bloke and go out on his shield if he couldn't knock his opponent out, or beat them into the canvas for a points victory - unlike certain other Brits *ahem*. I can say that I watched both of Hatton's fights against PBF and Pac and prayed he could affect an upset, and my heart went out to him when he was found wanting. Hope he stays clean and gets on with his promotions business, genuinely a nice bloke, a people's champion - good luck to him.
Farewell to a legend.
Didn't quite make it at the very top level, but we all had a great time watching him try.
As others have said, nobody has had a following like Ricky in the last 40 years, so he must have been doing something right.
