UK Boxing - Bellew/McKenzie --- Burns/Cook --- Murray/Mitchell - Discussion Thread
Evening folks,
This one's looking like absolute dynamite of a bill tonight, three really good fights that would be worth a friday night headline by themselves.
Personally I'd like to see McKenzie, Burns and Mitchell pick up the wins but I'm not sure that McKenzie and Mitchell will have enough to pick the wins. Roll on.

Re: UK Boxing - Bellew/McKenzie --- Burns/Cook --- Murray/Mitchell - Discussion Threa
Bellew is boxing very smart here, picking his shots well. Hopefully he can keep breaking him down.
-
Re: UK Boxing - Bellew/McKenzie --- Burns/Cook --- Murray/Mitchell - Discussion Threa
I've backed McKenzie here. Not sure Bellew is fighting the right fight.

I think he's doing the right thing, McKenzie is starting to get a bit impatient & I think he'll walk him onto something good like this.
-
Re: UK Boxing - Bellew/McKenzie --- Burns/Cook --- Murray/Mitchell - Discussion Threa
Not totally enjoying the cagey stuff from Bellew, he isn't looking good, and hope McKenzie can get close enough to land a few more big shots like those from the last fights.
I demand knockdowns now!!!

Re: UK Boxing - Bellew/McKenzie --- Burns/Cook --- Murray/Mitchell - Discussion Threa
Yeah you're probably right Jaz.
I'm a bit surprised by Bellew's tactics.
-
Expected fireworks, getting a soggy biscuit.
Time someone starts letting go a little, McKenzie must know he can't out box him over the distance? The commentating is already shamefully bias, Bellew is getting verbaly bummed at every opportunity.

Re: UK Boxing - Bellew/McKenzie --- Burns/Cook --- Murray/Mitchell - Discussion Threa
I think he hurt Bellew with that bodyshot
-
Re: UK Boxing - Bellew/McKenzie --- Burns/Cook --- Murray/Mitchell - Discussion Threa
HOw you scoring this boys?
-
Re: UK Boxing - Bellew/McKenzie --- Burns/Cook --- Murray/Mitchell - Discussion Threa
39-37 Bellew & I was a bit iffy about the one I gave to McKenzie

Bellew isn't looking good, but he's taking the game away from McKenzie in a sort of dull way. I think it would benefit from McKenzie knocking Bellew down.

Re: UK Boxing - Bellew/McKenzie --- Burns/Cook --- Murray/Mitchell - Discussion Threa
Bellew def winning,
Jim Watt normally scores for whoevers going forward.

I don't think he looks bad, he appears to be upping the workrate every round. His biggest problem in the past especially given his struggle making weight is that he tries to do too much too soon. Ooh fuck, good shot at last McKenzie

He does doesn't he?
It's not about who lands the punches or anything like that. I'm surprised he hasn't scored the whole fight even so far as he normally does.

Re: UK Boxing - Bellew/McKenzie --- Burns/Cook --- Murray/Mitchell - Discussion Threa
Bellew needs to double & triple that jab to set up the right. When he does McKenzie has no answers.
-
Re: UK Boxing - Bellew/McKenzie --- Burns/Cook --- Murray/Mitchell - Discussion Threa
I'll continue to be the only person posting in this thread. I actually don't think Bellew is doing much wrong. He's the one initiating most engages, but there's no sense in him going all gung-ho. On a technical point of view, Bellew is doing a great job of showing just how a taller fighter should use head movement. Paul Williams should take note. Didn't know Darren Bent was a boxing fan. Unless he's there planning yet another move.

Re: UK Boxing - Bellew/McKenzie --- Burns/Cook --- Murray/Mitchell - Discussion Threa
You was right Jaz. Bellew tactics turned out fine.
Poor fight compared to last time but good for Bellew. Thought he was too hotheaded to do this (still got fingers crossed for "lucky" shot)
-
Re: UK Boxing - Bellew/McKenzie --- Burns/Cook --- Murray/Mitchell - Discussion Threa
Drab.
McKenzie did nothing. Bellew did what he had to do. No problems with Bellew there though- He certainly didn't need another fight like the first match between these two.
-
Re: UK Boxing - Bellew/McKenzie --- Burns/Cook --- Murray/Mitchell - Discussion Threa
Bring him on - snooze fest but I like his attitude.

McKenzie celebrating. He put absolutely fuck all forward tonight.
I think they're being much too hard on Bellew. The doubt I've always had about him is whether he'd have the discipline to stick to a gameplan. It may not have been the most exciting fight ever, but he showed skill & did what we'd expect someone to do against a guy who has fuck all but power.
Also I think Cleverly continues to get a bit of an undue love-in from the Sky team. He has looked decidedly dodgy in his last two against guys who were supposed to be a piece of piss.
I completely agree with Bellew. As he says it's a risky business. I'm glad to see Johnny, Glenn & Barry have some sense unlike fucking Jim
-
Re: UK Boxing - Bellew/McKenzie --- Burns/Cook --- Murray/Mitchell - Discussion Threa
That's bullshit - Adam Smith asking Bellew do the fans deserve more?
The man fought his fight. First time forever he's not been knocked all over the shop fighting like a lunatic
-
Re: UK Boxing - Bellew/McKenzie --- Burns/Cook --- Murray/Mitchell - Discussion Threa
It feels like Cook has been round since the beginning of time.

Yep.
Really that was exactly what Bellew should have done. As I said he certainly didn't need another fight like the first. I just didn't think he had it in him to keep a cool head - So I'm a little disappointed that he did!

Re: UK Boxing - Bellew/McKenzie --- Burns/Cook --- Murray/Mitchell - Discussion Threa
If Cook goes down in the third here boxing has regressed to the 40/50s
-
Re: UK Boxing - Bellew/McKenzie --- Burns/Cook --- Murray/Mitchell - Discussion Threa
Right, Burns vs Cook.
I have told Cook to fall over in the third so let's watch for that. If he ignores me I actually expect him to give Burns more trouble than most seem to think/the odds suggest.

Re: UK Boxing - Bellew/McKenzie --- Burns/Cook --- Murray/Mitchell - Discussion Threa
Bit of a snoozer to be honest, turned off to eat some pizza and drink some beer. Come on with some action in the next one.

This is why I always prefer it when they let Ed Robinson, who's a proper boxing man, ask the questions because he wouldn't say something that stupid. Bellew has been entertainment every fight of his career. So now that he tries to preserve his brain cells a bit he's treated as if he's thrown away his career.

RE: Cook's entrance music.
It seems we have already regressed 20 years.

Re: UK Boxing - Bellew/McKenzie --- Burns/Cook --- Murray/Mitchell - Discussion Threa
Cook looks like he's shitting it.
Because of the fight or the dive he's gonna make? ;D

What's this dive thing about?
I was watching the Copa America on the other channel in between fights.

Bookies stopped taking bets due to suspicious betting patterns relating to Burns winning via KO in 3rd. So we were watching for that. Cook obviously misheard the message though.

Re: UK Boxing - Bellew/McKenzie --- Burns/Cook --- Murray/Mitchell - Discussion Threa
I hoped that fixed stuff wasn't true
Utter disgrace.
Even Rawling/Watt sound like they knew the score.

Once again, they're left with the line, sorry about that last fight, but the next one is definitely the business. Come on Kevin Mitchell.
-
Re: UK Boxing - Bellew/McKenzie --- Burns/Cook --- Murray/Mitchell - Discussion Threa
Not for the first time - I don't know what to think.
