Ha, back in the day, early 90's York and Ripon racecourses held an event called Galactica, absolutely wicked events, with appearances from the likes of Basshead's, Felix etc, never forget them days, bit old for them now :-X
If only I could remember any of them I'd love to tell you!
I was fortunate to have one of the best uk clubs on my doorstep (until it got shut down) and we'd have a big name in there most weeks. It was an old theatre and the colosseum style layout was brilliant.
I didn't know raves were still popular. Can't say I've been to or heard of one since the late 90's.
I've never been to an actual rave. But I have been off my head in nightclubs before. That kind of music is utter garbage, but it does sound kind of okay when you are out of your mind on drugs. I would mutilate a CD player if anyone tried to play that in my home though.
Miles once again we agree.
I don't go to raves because I am not gay and when I drink I prefer to drink like a MAN and not have vodka red bulls or whatever fruitcake drinks those dope smokin' morons are drinking.
I've noticed this much drugged out people can make great music but drugged out people can listen to crap for extended periods of time....I for one used to like Phish, not that I'd ever go to one of their concerts.
I like to run to some techno - prodigy, astral projection, crystal method. Decent up beat stuff to zone out to while I'm logging the miles but I can't say I ever just put it on in the car or house to listen to. And yeah going to Raves was a lot more about some recreation drugs and ease of finding a female companion for the night.

I haven't been to a good rave in ages. Still have a soft spot for disco biscuits! Just not practical now a days, my recovery times are too long and I need to function daily in my life now.
Had some great times back in the day. Can't beat some stomping hard style to release your stress after a long week.
Where I live in Leeds there is a very good rave scene! Liverpool has a very good one too! The mint club in Leeds is great fun!!! Spent a lot of my Uni time there !
YouTube - Broadcast Yourself.
:D
Ha, funny ya mention that, used to go to a club called the 'Colosseum' in stockton, It was a former picture house, and the layout was wicked !
The place where i cut my teeth so to speak was the After Dark in Sunderland and Blue Monkey in sunderland, Cressa121 may have heard of these places as the close to where he lives.
Yeah this answer.
Different in my day, when off our faces its was usually on deserted beaches or out in farmland and forest areas under a full moon, with a fire and old style space rock going :p. Hawkwind, Amon dull 2 ,Sabbath, that sort of stuff. Totally different drugs too, Opium, black Hash, Blonde Lebanese, or Clear light, brown pyramids the real deal solid form Lsd, 8 hours of lift offs.

Here this is the closest we ever got to a rave. Sort of the similar I suppose.
The was good

But this was incredible

Police just gave up and ended up being glorified parking attendants. This incident gave the government the excuse they needed to change the law on illegal parties.
Nocturnal Wonderland 2001. Paul Oakenfold, Mars and Mystere, Rabbit in the Moon, Tiesto tons of other acts. about 50K people showed up it truly was an unreal experience.
I believe it was that year as well that riot police came to keep people out by firing rubber bullets and tear gas because they were trying to storm the gates.
2 pounds a pill? That is madness, must have seriously hacked down on what they used to put in them. A decade ago I could go a night on a pill quite easily. Beers first and then hit the club and have a pill and that was me set. 12 in a night? Haha, times change. ;D
The pure MDMA pills are back now, 10 pound a pill. None of this 2 pound speed shit, lovely clean pills.
That's what I've been told Greg, I live with a dj and he's into all of that. But unfortantly my sporting in all departments has taken step backs. Pretty much not doing anything at the moment. Hoping to pick it up again when my im redoing my second year of university. Defiantly need my focus back and not doing any boxing for the past year has made me lose focus. It's my target to get back in soon, I do miss it a lot.
Your telling me..!! Theres some here in Malta that are amazing..3 and your battered all night!! ;D
Way too many good nights to mention but one that sticks in my mind was Sasha @ Sancho Panza (Notting Hill Carnival) about 10 years ago...10 thousand people going crazy on a hot sunny afternoon on the streets of Kensal Green - West london right under the noses of the Police HQ!! hahaha People on roofs, halfway up lamposts going nuts!
