who do you reckon?
Mike Perez will school Fury, of that I have no doubt. I'll be surprised if this fight comes off though, I can't see people wanting to see Fury lose some of the £££ signs he gained vs Chisora just yet.
That is some brave matchmaking, that's all I'm gonna say...
It's about damn time heavyweights had some "brave match making" hell the last time I remember any effort in brave match making re: heavyweight prospects was the Boxing After Dark with Mesi-Williamson, Guinn-Dokiwari, and some other undefeated heavyweight all fought on the same night on the same card...one of my favorite nights of boxing just for the match making alone! It showed that their management had full faith in their skill levels and in that case all went to plan for the favorites...still fun to watch though.
Seriously bad move for Fury at this stage imo.
has anyone seen perez fight other than in prizefighter?
i havent and i thought he had a very easy ride that night and his skills were flattered
I agree with Eric here. I like Perez but he's been seriously overrated since winning the easiest prizefighter ever.
Kertson Manswell was a big fat lump with breeze blocks stuck to his feet who's only punch is a predictable righthand swipe. He makes Sam Peter look like Ali.
Gregory Tony struggled to beat a Russian journeyman, then jumped on the floor, realising he's earned his money, the first time Perez through a shot at him.
Tye Fields - china-chin, needs oxygen mask after the first 90 seconds of every fight - came into the final injured and needed to be helped into the ring he was so fucked.
Fat John McDermott would have smashed all of them to bits.
This is a BIG step up for Perez not Fury.
Fury gets credit. If he were to beat Perez, that would mean wins over Chisora and Perez in the same year, it's not half bad really.
I think Perez would destroy him ;)
I wasn't convinced by Perez at all in prizefighter, and he hasn't really fought at any sort of level, with his best win over a blown up journeyman cruiserweight in Ismail Abdoul.
Perez is making the step up, and I'd back Fury going in to this one. As for David Price, I doubt Price would fancy it, so the Canadian Bosnian Neven Pajkic might be the most likely match up to end up getting made.
I never avoid the question ratcantrat.
I think Fury's enormous size advantage, better form and solid chin make him favourite.
(plus I heard Fury smashed him all over the shop when sparring ;))
Quite fancy Fury in this one. Perez looked decent in prizefighter, but I don't think he beat anyone that night that would have troubled Fury. it was hardly the strongest field that night either. It should be a decent scrap if it comes off though, Fury looks like he's really starting to step up the level of competition. Good for him.
Perez is quicker than Chisora and he hits harder. Not only that but Perez also seems to know how to throw a straight punch. Something Chisora seems to have no idea how to do. The few times he got Fury in somewhat difficult situation he just started throwing a bunch of wild reckless punches. Gassing himself in the process. Perez I see being more composed in that situation
Yep shame what happened after isn't it almost a direct fight after. Mesi almost comes a cropper against Barrett, and then has his career more or less ended by Jirov and Guinn did come a cropper against Barrett. Shame that for all the brilliant matchmaking skills all those fighters careers as serious contenders ended within the next 2 fights.
People seem to be getting carried away with Fury. This is the same man that got beat off John Mcdermott people. He may have gotten a ridiculous decision but he got beat in my eyes very comfortably. He was struggling second time round until he got the stoppage too. As for Chisora he was horribly out of shape and he is shite anyway. As for Perez, yes he only beat mediocre at best opponents at but he looked very comfortable doing it and if Fury really does get in the ring with him, he'll prove what we already know... Fury is shit, Price is the upcoming british HW to watch. Remember I said that.
plus that was only his 9th or 10th fight or something, 20 oddth including the ams
and it wasnt that clear to mcdermott, there were rounds where he hardly threw a punch, and the most eye catching punch was his overhand right but it wasnt the only punch thrown in the fight
lets see how mcdermott does against price, an olympic semi finalist who a lot of people are tipping for the top
Looks like a fairly even fight in terms of who people are expecting to win though. If the bout itself is as ding dong and back and forth, and live on terrestrial TV, then it can only be good for the state of British boxing.
Why has Rogan ducked this fight then?
He seemed well up for it after the DC fight.
Pluse he was reportedly getting very well paid for this fight.
