Cotto vs Margarito. December 3rd 2011. DONE
Fight to be at a catchweight of 153 lbs.
Margarito's trainer said there is 'absolutely no way' there will be a second weight in on the day of the fight and, for Miguel, there lies the problem which I think is gonna cost Cotto the fight - Margarito is gonna be huge come fight night. He's gonna walk through Cotto's punches again.
I didn't see the point of the catchweight but I've been told that, apparently, at 154 you have to use 10oz gloves but under that you only need 8oz gloves.

I hope Cotto destroys that cheating prick

Re: Cotto vs Margarito. December 3rd 2011. DONE
This is going to be a more competitive fight than that of Mayweather or Pacquiao.
I hope Margarito gets another beating.
-
Cotto career has nearly been ruined by two cheaters. Hope he destroys margo and then fight pac at a catchweight with olympic drug tests.lol

Maybe, but I think there's some upside to rooting for Cotto in this one. Both fighters have clearly taken a lot of punishment in the last few years, but likely(and we should hope) it's the face first guys that burn out faster after a few tough fights. Margarito has really fared worse than Cotto has since they first fought, and it's quite possible Cotto will be quite a bit fresher when they meet up. I think it's a given that the styles dont match up for Cotto at their peaks, but Margarito relies so heavily on being able to take punishment it's hard to imagine him being as tough to crack after the losses he has taken.

Have faith Cotto wins he is better and fresher whereas Marg has taken a real career threatening beating.

I've got Cotto in this one. Hoping for a great fight though...
-
Re: Cotto vs Margarito. December 3rd 2011. DONE
Margarito is 11/2 to stop him. I'm gonna put money on that so that, if Cotto does lose again (), I've got some cash coming my way.
I'd happily lose the bet though if it meant Cotto winning.

Re: Cotto vs Margarito. December 3rd 2011. DONE
It's such a tough fight to pick for me. I thought Margarito for what he is and considering who he was up against actually looked pretty good in that fight against Pacquiao. On the other hand, I didn't think Cotto looked that great against Foreman and looked just alright against Mayorga. Yet, Cotto beat Foreman and Mayorga and Margarito was annihilated by Pacquiao. In my opinion, and it is disagreed with by some here, Margarito was being blown out by Cotto for the first half of their fight, and I believe Cotto would have won if he was being hit with bricks. The question is whether Margarito got into Cotto's head because of that or whether Cotto deep inside can chalk it up to Margarito's gloves and use this fight to take vengence. I really could see this going both ways. It's even close to the most significant fight at 154, but it's a big name fight with the potential to be a great fight too. I'm looking forward to it in an odd way.

Did they give any hints over where the fight will be held?

The first fight was awesome, id like a bit more of that

I think it's going to be a great fight, really looking forward to this one. I see Marg's walking through his punches and winning in the late rounds.

Re: Cotto vs Margarito. December 3rd 2011. DONE
I hope Cotto's cardio is much improved, there are times that he should be on his bicycle here. Still praying Cotto bludgeons this cheat.

Re: Cotto vs Margarito. December 3rd 2011. DONE
I reckon Cotto stops Margo inside 5 rounds!
-
Look at Margarito post plaster-gate...he's helpless. Mosley wrecked him, Pac wrecked him and when Cotto gets him in the ring he'll WRECK him. After the first fight Cotto said it was difficult to go to the body, I'm thinking that's due to the uppercuts and the wraps. With Manny in his corner he should box better and do more damage....pump the jab, dig to the body, and use better defense.

I heard Wolak is on the undercard this fight, any idea who his opponent is yet? Rodriguez would be good, make it a night a rematches!

Damn it!!! How the hell is Margacheato's corner calling the shots? What are they trying to prove or hide by refusing a second weigh-in on the day of the fight? Not that it should matter much, as long as he makes the weight the day before. And how the hell does Cotto's camp agree to 153?!? The fight should've been at 150, not a pound more. Cheato is naturally bigger and taller than Miguel. This is totally to his advantage, and Cotto is walking right into his trap.
All I know is, Stewart better hone Miguel's skills physically AND mentally for this fight. I couldn't stand a repeat of the first fight.

Re: Cotto vs Margarito. December 3rd 2011. DONE
Could be that Cotto feels more comfortable not having to cut much weight at all either now, who knows. As for the second weigh in, when does that ever happen anyways? Was it a condition in the contract? I mean as long as Margarito(god infect his scrotum) wasn't obligated you can't really equate his not doing so to calling the shots. This fight is a weird one for me because I truly want to see Cotto win easily and early(epicly unlikely:mad:) more than I want to see a good fight. I don't usually root for fighters one way or another like that. I just think it'd be a shame if Margarito inflicts any more damage on Cotto, he doesn't deserve to be getting paydays like he has as it is. If Cotto is able to turn the tables in a big way it'd be the perfect way to send the cheat into retirement being remembered as such. Get's busted for the wraps then procedes to get battered by every class fighter he's in with afterwards, finally a guy he probably used plaster to beat.

Wolak is facing Vanes. Wolak is a pressure fighter and Vanes has a suspect chin. Vanes, on the other hand, is a better boxer than Wolak. It's a good clash of styles. I could see it going the same way as Foreman/Wolak or like Wolak/Smith. The winner is in line for a shot at Saul.

If cottos ever wanted to a fight, surley this will be the one?! People hav doubted cottos heart b4 but im sure he'l giv this 110% to avenge the last fight!! I hope cotto smashes cheato to bits.......

Re: Cotto vs Margarito. December 3rd 2011. DONE
I would love Cotto to win this fight but i feel Margarito has more left at this stage than Cotto has.
Margarito got his ass kicked by Pacquiao but he did have his moments especially when he had Pacquiao on the ropes. If he can still have success like that against the best fighter in the world, i see him having no problem getting at Cotto.
Hopefully Steward will have Cotto follow the gameplan Mosley had against Margarito. I don't think he can pull it off like Mosley could though.

Re: Cotto vs Margarito. December 3rd 2011. DONE
It's ridiculous how this bout is at 153 but wadaya gonna do.. Cotto is scared shitless of his daddy and needs an edge..
He was willing to face Chavez Jr at 160 for that bogus ass MW title yet he can't do 154 for Margo?? hella rubbish.. This is one of the reasons why i never liked this dude.. Cotto is one of the most protected fighters in the past decade. He's pampered..
He should have fought Margo rematch long ago but he had to wait until this man is all battered and beaten.. After what Pacman did to Margo, there is no way that he can ever be the same and on top of that, Margo is a one good punch to the eye from turning into captain hook... I dont believe that his eye is really 100%...
As long as his eye holds up, he'll win by late KO again... But if it goes to the cards, I can see that pampered Cotto getting a gift decision..

My thoughts are Margarito used loaded gloves to beat Cotto the first time, he's not going to have that advantage this time, and Margarito showed he's not anything special in his loses to Mosley & Pacquiao, without the loaded hand-wraps.
I see Miguel wanting some serious payback and/or revenge, and I believe he tears Margarito a new asshole in the rematch. Cotto by 10th round TKO, after Tony takes a beating.

I heard it might be Vanes too but I don't think it will be, would be a good match up though
