My Brother Got Out Of Prison
On Monday, after 8 years in the Corcoran SHU. One of the smartest, most powerful personalities that I am aware of, a very very charismatic individual. We spent close to 6 hours on the telephone yesterday. It is very odd to hear the voice of somebody that you are so close to, that you have communicated with by mail, so you aren't out of touch...But to hear them talk after all that time is ...different. It is momentarily jarring to hear the familiar sound, while realizing how different it is. If that makes sense.
At any rate, if all works out, I'm taking a trip back home in September for a visit.

Carnt be that smart if he wound up in prison mate :-\
All the same tho, glad to hear one of your loved ones is to be free and to enjoy the rest of his days on the outside ;)
Re: My Brother Got Out Of Prison
8 years in prison, must have been a serious charity activist. Very smart, but clearly not so nice. I've never got a jail sentence, I guess I am nice. 8 years, it is on the lower end of niceness.
Re: My Brother Got Out Of Prison
Actually, his charge this time was felony vandalism (for backing a 30 foot long truck into a hotel office) and evading pursuit. In the past there have been convictions for ADW and manufacturing controlled substances, and the gang membership is (was? we pray) an added bonus.
Really, this whole trip started in 1990 with a fight at a party, in which somebody got hit with a bottle and somebody else went to Folsom. When I was a kid, we were free to beat the living shit out of each other, bottles, bats and what have you. It is a relatively new thing, where it takes you 20-plus years to reap the wild oats you sow.

sounds smart as fuck to me ;D
Re: My Brother Got Out Of Prison
Well. At the time, your options with the LAPD were 56 baton stokes or 120 bullets. Running makes sense, at least until you decide which you prefer.

How about NOT backing a 30 foot long truck into a hotel office ;D

Sounds like a model human being.
Re: My Brother Got Out Of Prison
Well...you know...I wouldn't say this to his face...But...he drives like ass.

That is a lot of years for bad driving. Keep him off the roads and keep him on the straight and narrow mate.
Re: My Brother Got Out Of Prison
Missy could surely use a driver.

My cousin works at Corcoran as a lieutenant C/O. So did he run with the Nazi Low Riders? Or was he latino and ran with the Surenos?
Re: My Brother Got Out Of Prison
Hope it works out for you both.
Re: My Brother Got Out Of Prison
Years on... little brother just got out 12 days ago. He has OD'd twice since then, trying to prove how much he loves a junkie chick that he swears he loves. He sounds so lost and vacant on the phone; my little brother is a strong, shot calling gangster normally. I might have to do a turnaround trip to the Big I Motherfucking E to sort this shit out.
One time he dyed his hair purple with blue dots. We were riding in a BMW and these gang kids laughed at him, so he jumped out and took their car from them, right on the boulevard. Took the car to their"big homie" (la eme rep) and laughed about it. And now he's so tired.
Re: My Brother Got Out Of Prison
As a big brother you can do what you can do without putting yourself in harms way and allow him to lead a safe life without being reliant on you.

He's going to die and I can't do anything about it. I just woke up, walked outside and that realization hit me in the face. He is out of ideas and tired of living.

If it is as drastic then you have to try and help as much as you can.
Re: My Brother Got Out Of Prison
Joe sorry I couldn't answer last night
Re: My Brother Got Out Of Prison
Sorry grey, the poor guy I'd prob institutionalize. Very hard to make changes when that shit is ingrained with u. I've had guys that did 20 years on my case load and did manage to turn it around. I wish him and u the best
Re: My Brother Got Out Of Prison
I'm very sorry buddy, that this charismatic guy with so much to live for has ended up this way. As a brother and loved one it must surely make you want to weep.
He will always be your brother. Remember him like he was, though it's hard
Be strong mate.
Re: My Brother Got Out Of Prison
Don't give up on your brother dude. You don't ever do that. But also can't help fix what someone else refuses to call broken. Sure he has to be with a regular PO or counseling after 12 yrs? Does he know himself sober? You can watch someone fresh off time away and new opportunity fall right back into routine of a chemical crutch..you get equally pissed and exhausted trying to keep their head above water. You urge and encourage the best for family and remind and hold the best of times..if anything else you and your bro get to keep that. Hang in bud.
