I feel like Gamboa will KO De Leon hard as much as I like De Leon. I'm a big fan, but Gamboa just seems on another level. I know he is somewhat vulnerable himself, but he punches like a beast.

This could be a repeat of De Leon's fight agains Juanma. Gamboa wins around round 4
I kinda think PDL can go the distance...
But I'm more inclined to Gamboa going all out and looking for the TKO.
After all JML got in 1 round. I'm sure Gamboa doesnt want to get a decision win.
De Leon might be able to catch Gamboa with one of his wild punches, but I doubt it; he's too slow and he doesn't have the chin to stand up to Gamboa's onslaught.
Gamboa by early TKO.
This fight comes on tonight after the Vitali vs. Adamek replay @ 10:30 PM EST here in North America
At Atlantic City, N.J. (HBO): Yuriorkis Gamboa vs. Daniel Ponce De Leon, 12 rounds, featherweights.
I believe Gamboa destroys Ponce, I don't see this going more than 5-6 rounds tops.
Why don't we use Rant-Cat's thread for the fight thread? :)
Agreed, this is ending early.
The Vitali vs Adamek replay is starting now, Gamboa v. Ponce De Leon won't be on for another hour.
Gamboa looks like a friggin jr welterweight. This one is all about when not what.
Ponce already in the ring, Gamboa on his way, the fight should start in a few.
I like the mobility and patience from Gamboa. He may have given the round but seems to be leashing Ponce De leon into something big
Gamboa reminds me of a mini-Tyson, he even looks a bit like him.
Good competitive fight so far.
Gamboa. Don't even look like he's trying . He gonna blow ponce up
Ponce gets some of the strangest expressions on his face.
Max needs to sloooow down. Gamboa, Hopkins and J.C Chavez have nothing really in common right now
But Gamboa IS showing something he's been needing...different gears!
Gamboa is good not the greatest boxer in the world like everyone hbo makes all their fighters out to be . One thing I will give ponce ....he doesn't seem to be all that impressed with gamboa's speed power etc
So far Ponce has taken Gamboa's punches well, but we shall see.
Gamboas achilles heel is his head standing so tall and still. Suprised he's getting touched by Ponce at range
If ponce were just half a mph faster ........
This fight has already gone further than I thought it would.
That's quite a tribe Ponce belongs to.
That left to the ribs hurt Ponce Deleon...ahh crap headbutt :p
ehh...Ive seen much worse. Talk about anti climactic
Stopping the fight? Bullshit, I've seen cuts a lot worse than that.
Gamboa wins a technical UD.
G'night folks, disappointing fight.
Max i.e HBO are trying to get Manny brought up on manslaughter charges pitching a Gamboa name grab
The cut was high on the forehead and in the middle of his head, the fight should not have been stopped.
I like Gamboa and Ponce De Leon a lot.
I think it is BS that just because Lopez lost that now Gamboa gets to duck him the rest of his career ?
No.
I still want to see Gamboa vs. Lopez or Gamboa vs. Donaire.
Lol on Jml Hulk he better do the ducking or learn to keep his fucking hands up or Gamboa going end him quick Jml needs to go avenge a loss before i would even use the word ducking yet dude lol.
Hulk i was not saying anything about Broner i just saying jml needs to go beat sal. You were saying this shit about ducking which i think is a tad to soon to say about a fighter who just lost his belt.
I like Gamboa more than Lopez. I'm a Gamboa fan and aside from Ponce De Leon, Gamboa has done far better against their common opponents.
I just think that HBO and company are trying to sweep a Gamboa vs. Lopez showdown under the rug far too soon. Lopez is an elite fighter still.
And I was glad Salido TKO'd him. But can he do it again ?
That match vs Salido more and more has proven to be a great learning curve and plus for Gamboa. Was the first time I recall him making big a alterations as it went and showed maturity with Ponce Deleon as well as appreciation for power. I believe the stoppage was iffy though. Gamboa has many options but he still has some big gaps in defense and leaping in badly that can be exploited. Not sure about a Lopez fight, they have just gone different directions and Lopez has some rebuilding to do. I'd favor Gamboa in a shoot out even though Lopez to me is all around more sound boxer. He's just been through the grinder.
In my opinion, the Ponce De Leon that fought Broner and Gamboa was a much improved De Leon to the one that faced Lopez. As far as your logic goes, Gamboa slammed Salido, Salido beat up Lopez. In addition, against other common opponents, Gamboa has looked much better thant Lopez. Mtgawa comes to mind. Why would a fight between Lopez and Gamboa make sense now? Lopez needs to rebuild. Maybe Lopez and Broner then?
I'd like to see Lopez - Broner.
