Who wold pay for a boxing channel ?
Ok we don't know specifics but am curious as to how many out there would pay for a boxing only channel. We hearing it going to be £10 a month after first few months when ite broadcast free
Myself I am pissed off alrerady at amount I shell out a month and on principle am not forking out any more eg I have sky sports so not going espn for more football even though theres many a match on there I would like to see.
I would still pay for the odd ppv fight though if thought was worth it (not done so though since Khan Maidana) so if they are going to have the big fights not sure how that might work. Unless you can switch it on and off month by month !
And also could this mean you have sky sports for Ringside, Primetime for Khan and other ppv events and now Boxnation for other stuff ?!?
Anyway am getting too bogged down.
Bottom line is would you pay £10 a month for a boxing channel ?!?

Re: Who wold pay for a boxing channel ?
Probably would pay for a mix: boxing + MMA.
-
Re: Who wold pay for a boxing channel ?
Well it depends how much you like boxing?
If you don't watch all the British/Euro level fights - which make up the majority of Sky TV fights - then it's clearly not for you.
If you are just following the stars - Khan, Haye, Pac, Floyd etc.. then I wouldn't pay £10 per month either.

Re: Who wold pay for a boxing channel ?
I won't, just because Sky already take too much money from me and I couldn't sacrafice the sports all together because I watch too much of it.
£5 a month I would have signed up, £10 is too much.

Re: Who wold pay for a boxing channel ?
For 24-7 coverage? No doubt. Not the same thing but only reason I have HBO & Showtime now at $10-15 per monthly. Would give some needed exposure to many cards.

Re: Who wold pay for a boxing channel ?
In the past i paid for setanta sport's i have sky it's getting out of hand 10 pound for a boxing channel,15 pound for ppv's. When setanta went tit's up they had 2 month's sub's out of me never got the money back, so how long do you think this channel will LAST.:mad

Re: Who wold pay for a boxing channel ?
I have seen the line up to Box Nation and the line up is good, particularly as it is free for the moment. I was not intending to get it.
I do not have sky but when Manny is fighting I get it for that month, so was going to do the same and be able to watch Cotto v Marg fight as well.
I have ESPN anyway as part of the package so get Friday Night Fights which has been good this season. Get Euro sport which gets good fights shown 6 months after.
Boxing fans are getting squeezed out of the game with all these channels to subscribe too, but as I am missing more and more boxing I am realising that I am not as huge fan as i use to be.

Re: Who wold pay for a boxing channel ?
so can you get sky sports channels on a monthly basis ? if so how much (and does it have to be them all or you can get specific ones)
also do you have to remember to switch them off again by a certain date or risk getting charged again ?!? that pisses me off and has caught me out before eg you can't trust them just to switch it off for you

i have to get mines through Virgin and the minimum is a month, think it costs £24, cost a couple of pounds more for the HD, and yes you have to remember to cancel it after the month, they will not allow you to do it earlier. Sky are the same on their platform, you can subscribe to them for a month.

Re: Who wold pay for a boxing channel ?
No not for one channel, but would rethink a package.
-
Re: Who wold pay for a boxing channel ?
its all down to the quality... and is that £10 a month then another £15 to watch any decent fights via PPV?
I won't be ripped off because i love a sport... there are other ways to get boxing for free legally, like a motorised satalite dish.
Haye Vs Klit fight.
£15 on skyBO or primtime can't remamber
or
Free on the german channel Das erst.
I get both channels with my satalite setup
apart from America i think the UK is one of the only other countries to have PPV boxing (i could be wrong as i'm not sure about ozland)
but most big fights can be found on free to air europe channels. ;)
but if its £10 a month and you don't get your arse slapped with extra PPV's and the fights are good then yeah that is well worth it IMHO

Re: Who wold pay for a boxing channel ?
I would love a boxing channel
Or a boxing stream on demand like netflix type app
-
Re: Who wold pay for a boxing channel ?
Here in the States we have enough channels that show boxing for free, and several premium boxing channels, like HBO & Showtime, which also air PPV's. I can't see the need for another "boxing channel" and I sure as hell wouldn't pay for it.
-
Re: Who wold pay for a boxing channel ?
I don't have a choice as boxing is pretty much excluded here, but I would certainly pay for a boxing channel that covered everything. Would be bliss.
-
Re: Who wold pay for a boxing channel ?
We are probably heding for a scenario where its all split over 3/4 channels and as said in this thread even a pay channel theres a very very good chance you will still have to pay extra for the big ones
-
Re: Who wold pay for a boxing channel ?
We already pay for mostly garbage fights in one way or another. Now they want more........get the fu*k outta here. What are they selling next boxing water ? I'll pass and steal whatever they show online like everyone else
-
Re: Who wold pay for a boxing channel ?
I pay $20 a piece for showtime and HBO, solely for their boxing. So if this "boxing channel" could guarantee premium quality fights at least once month, i would buy.
However, I would not pay for a boxing channel that just showed old fights and no new ones.
-
Re: Who wold pay for a boxing channel ?
Not enough bang for your buck when you compare it to ESPN. Why would I pay for unknowns when I read about a good fight I look for it online.
-
Re: Who wold pay for a boxing channel ?
Depends on the quality of the fights...but short answer FUCK OATH (you should add FUCK OATH in the poll..just so the aussies can answer with the correct lingo ;D ).
Id also pay for a MMA channel.
-
Re: Who wold pay for a boxing channel ?
I would only pay for a porn channel.
-
Re: Who wold pay for a boxing channel ?
No sky already get to much money of me as it is.

Re: Who wold pay for a boxing channel ?
In America cable packages are so fucked up. I pay almost $30 extra a month for channels other then the basic 150 Comcast offers. That means I get channels like Logo (the gay and lesbian channel) and all sorts of other useless channels just so I can get MLB Network and ESPNews. Seriously. SO if they ever introduced that channel in America, it would likely be grouped into a channel package. You can't buy channels individually here, they are all in packages. So if I ever got The Boxing Channel, I would also have to buy The Knitting Channel, The Kitten Network, Home Shopping Network 7, etc. It would probably run me an extra $30 a month and to get it I would have to have all the channels still like Logo before I was even eligible to get that package. Like Spicoli, boxing is 95% of the reason I pay $20 for JUST HBO (movie channels you can buy individually, not cable networks), so I probably would but I would be getting ripped off in the process. Oh well, as of now downloading fights suits me fine.

you really need to try the site below
Google

Re: Who wold pay for a boxing channel ?
I already have ESPN and stream anything else decent so it'll be the same for this. Any old fights can be downloaded or watched via Youtube anyways. If you ended up paying to watch boxing on all UK platforms god knows how much it'd cost per year for:
1. Sky
2. ESPN
3. Primetime
4. Premier Sports
5. Box Nation
There may be more but it's a bit early to think...

Re: Who wold pay for a boxing channel ?
Paying for showtime and hbo just for boxing. $20 each a month.

But you pay $50 for a PPV although you can watch it free a week later?
