What type of Boxing fan are you?
How would you categorize yourself??
A) A hardcore Boxing Junkie who knows about all the fighters from Minimumweight to Heavyweight.. The type who misses out on wedding and birthday parties to watch a good ole fight..
B) Once an avid fan but now follow the sport part time.. More like an interest than passion..
C) Casual observer
D) Fairly new to the sport.. noob
Re: What type of Boxing fan are you?
There should be one in between A and B for big fans that dont pay attention to the smaller weights.
Re: What type of Boxing fan are you?
i could give a rat's ass about spit-weight, :), straw weight, etc. i hate watching little pip-squeaks hopping around like fucking mexican jumping beans (no pun intended) and seeing a ref intervene who looks like King Kong or Godzilla walking through Tokyo in those movies, and knowing that the punches are landing like raindrops in a driving windstorm, and even if a guy lands 40 power punches in a rund, the other guy keeps hopping up and down like nothing happened, and most of all i hate knowing its gonna be a 12 round fight of this same hopping and jumping and throwing these gnat-punches, or maybe mosquito-punches.
Re: What type of Boxing fan are you?
Stubborn and dedicated. In terms of what fans must endure at times in poitics and bs...I fancy myself a Tex Cobb. I won't leave boxing even if she throws all of my possessions on the front lawn and strikes a match.
Re: What type of Boxing fan are you?
who is that girl at the bottom of your posts with the sword?
Re: What type of Boxing fan are you?
I'm a serious boxing fan in that I watch all the fights I can and believe I know enough about the sport, but I don't pretend to be as hardcore as some nor pretend that I spar. I am very much like Larry Merchant except I am younger. Just an enthusiastic follower of a sport that he loves and a fondness for the occasional tipple.

Re: What type of Boxing fan are you?
yep am a bit in between A and B.
Don't like watching the little guys and don't like watching the journeymen (unless they are fighting an up and comer who's got people raving of course) and don't care to watch the domestic guys who aren't going to make it on the big stage. Or Prizefighter - though did watch when Audley was in it ! And am getting to stage where I can't be arsed watching fights where people are pretty sure its going the distance . I know the outcome could be different but thats way I feel - and of course we have to stay up till stupid o'clock in UK to see it.
My knowledge is certainly not what it was 6-7 years ago and there are many big fights now I don't get to see if I'm not quick enough on youtube before they get removed the next day.

Re: What type of Boxing fan are you?
Hardcore boxing fan. One who isn't blinded by the nationality of British boxers, too.

I pretty much agree with this. I try and see all the boxing I can and I like nothing more than watching a good tear up regardless of size/weight. Anyone who doesn't find the smaller weights interesting should look back at people like Finito Lopez and today Juan Palacios and Nkosinathi Joyi. These can all bang and are good to watch.
I must say I'd love the HW division to be the strongest division though. But that is more due to the state of Boxing. If the HW division is thriving then so is boxing. Unfortunately for us it is not.
Re: What type of Boxing fan are you?
Probably A. Big-time boxing fan. I watch most of all the big fights. At the lighter weights, I watch the big fights between guys like Donaire, Darchinyan, Mares, Agbecko, etc. I have boxed and want to get back into it. Boxing is my favorite sport, bar none. It's still just a sport though in the wide range of things in life, but it's my favorite one.
Re: What type of Boxing fan are you?
I'll watch any goddam fight at all whatsoever. If I even see 2 drunks scuffling on the corner I run over to watch. I even watched some shitty-ass Korean broadcast last year involving some suck-ass level fighters in some kind of international Inter-Asian Boxing Federation or some suck-ass shit like that, and some lout-ass tosser's name was something like Shukhroz Abdulloyev.

Re: What type of Boxing fan are you?
Donaire is impressive indeed but generally i'm not keen on bantamweight or ligher of that. I guess since Carlos Monzon, Sugar Ray Leonard, Duran, Hearns and Haggler fights i've always appreciated welterweight-middleweight. However some divisions like light middleweight and light wealter seems to be housed with more or less those who can't match at all punchers like Pacman and Mayweather.
I like both Felix Sturm/Amir Khan/Andre Ward-style technic boxing. But can't help addmiring Donaire, Pacman and Bute fighting. Generally it's better to have fights with different styles. I don't agree with argument that good fight is always blood and knockouts. E.g Sturm-DLH fight (2004) was one good example you can enjoy the fight with no knockouts and Gatti-style brutal bloody faces.
Re: What type of Boxing fan are you?
I was an avid fan and nearly missed my own wedding to stay up and watch Tyson v Holyfield 2. I use to record any boxing that was on and have mountains of tapes that I have never re-watched. Slowly I have been out priced by boxing and am only interested in watching the very best. Very rarely do I buy PPV, haven’t in many many years. A B I think.
Re: What type of Boxing fan are you?
I'm an A.
Still crazy after all these years.

Yes, but what about the boxing. :)
Re: What type of Boxing fan are you?
When I was 15 and weighed 149 I was a welterweight fan. Now I'm over 200 so I guess I'm a heavyweight.
