Martinez did look quite poor last time out so the rumours may very well turn out to be true.
I wouldn't take any rumours seriously.
If it is true, it's a big step up for Floyd even if Martinez didn't look great last time out.
I'm assuming the fight would be at 154. Any less than that would be a joke considering Floyd has already fought there and is clearly naturally bigger now than he was when he fought De La Hoya.
Should really be at 150..but floyd wont do catchweights.
Decision via floyd.
I remember someone mentioning it to Mayweather at a press conference and he did not say no to the match up; So it could likely happen in the future. He will really 1 up Pacman, especially if Pac decides to act on his rumor of fighting Mayweather's leftover Ortiz in the future.
I wouldnt be surprised if it was true. I mean, I always thought Floyd should fight him.. Martinez has been getting so much praise for the past two years but imo, he's overrated.
He's a great athlete but not particularly a great boxer. He ignores too much fundamentals for my taste. I always thought Floyd would handle him rather easily based on styles.. If I see those flaws in Martinez, Im sure Floyd sees so much more..
Make it happen...
Also, i believe paul williams will beat him in a rematch. Why did they never fight again? This hype started after the flurry lucky shot that destroyed williams but was the hype deserved?!
Is this the same Paul Williams that got a gift decision against Lara? Lara followed the Martinez game plan and kept throwing the left hand over Pwills. It wasn't a lucky shot, he came close to landing it the round before. Just because his head was turned to avoid a punch doesn't mean it was lucky.
Floyd wont fight martinez....... Its Far too risky
So martinez is a pound for pounder after paul williams win?
Paul deserves another chance, its unfair to dismiss him when guys like margacheato are still in the spotlight just cause he got a corrupt promotor.
Floyd Mayweather has two options with regards to getting a high income generating fight: it's either with Manny Pacquiao (provided he wins against Marquez) or Sergio Martinez. Who he fights first between the two (if he ever does that) will depend on who he thinks will be of less risk.
We all know that a fight with Pacquiao will get him the most money. Why would Floyd fight Martinez for less money if the risk of a loss is greater? If he does that, it's because he perceived Martinez as a lesser risk. Floyd may have seen flaws in Sergio that FinitoElDinamita saw.
I think that fighting Martinez is riskier so I believe the rumours are just that ...... rumours.
Yeah it was far from a lucky shot martinez tagged him with the same punch three or four times prior, the one that knocked him out tho landed with full force and williams didn't see it comming. If they rematch martinez knocks him out again cause for whatever reason he refuses to put up his hands, and I like paul and was screaming at the tv in the lara fight to put his dam hands up. As for pbf fighting martinez ill believe it when I see it...
Why has Floyd avoided Cotto all these years?
Floyd would not dare, if he did then he truly would be a great to take someone as dangerous as Matinez.
Martinez had a bad defense last time out? I guess jumbo shrimp is not an oxymoron. If he was sweating out a close decision because of a bad performance, maybe. He knocked the guy out and almost in a brutal fashion. If the rumors are true about Floyd which I believe they are not then why a catch weight? I don't understand why one fighter has to have complete control of all the qualifications for a match that would be in his favor from the start. It isn't fair and the PACMAN is just as guilty. It's like a high class call girl saying no more than six inches or there will be a financial penalty. It's a fight, not car insurance with a deductible we can't afford to have a policy to protect us should we have an accident. Catch weights are deductibles and the win in my opinion by the one that sets it is not a true win but an opportunity to cheat the other guy.
The reason for the catchweights is the guys concerned mayweather and pac call the shots because whoever they fight it's going to ther big pay day!now mayweather v Martinez at a catchweight wotever it is mayweather wins easily on points. A weight drained 36 or 37 year old means any serious danger Martinez poses is taken away.so a wouldn't b that surprised if the fight happened
Cotto and mayweather were at top rank at some point and bob arum wanted cotto to have no part of floyd.
Floyd would beat cotto at any time and you know its true.
I take it ortiz wasnt a risk either and was he another fighter coming of a loss? Ten years younger and a champion with bag of KOs.
Floyd cant be that risk averse..ortiz would probably ko martinez
Floyd prob wont fight any top rank fighters and definatly no leftovers from uknowwho.
