Why would you want to make your Skin tougher, curious :confused:
To make the skin have a durable leathery armor to it..I really hate headgear and don't believe it protects even the skin around the eyes.. Marciano's trainer talked about headgear in detail and why it was useless to use during sparring....
I fail to see how an extra padding on your head can't help. Beside, I doubt you can make your skin tough enough to compensate a couple of inches of pad.Quote:

It had to be or those fellows never would have been able to fight 25 and 30 rounds.” Dr Vincent Nardiello stated, “others used a solution of water and rock salt.” Dr Nardiello also commented on headgear stating his own personal reflection when he boxed under the name of Jimmy Sheppard to earn his way through medical school. “Speaking from my own experience, when I started, there were a few times when I butted heads in the gym, and because I didn’t have a headguard, I felt it plenty. As a result, I made darn sure of my technique the next time I moved so it wouldn’t happen again. It stands to reason, that a fighter would learn the proper technique if they didn’t go in there wearing football helmets ”
Agree about Technique and not getting Hit. But soft pliable Skin, doesnt tare as much as leathery Skin.
Well i believe leathery skin to be tough but i am not basing this on taking a knife to my leather arm chair in front of my television..LoL Why you do not agree is fine with me i just wanted feedback on this,so we all can learn from each other...
Hero, Boxers get Hit in the Face, a lot round the Eyes. Over a period of Time, the Receptors in and around the skin, dont work as well. So the messages for the Homeostasis dont relay as well, to repair the bruising, Therefore it hardens, thats when Fighters get cut, okay a Head can do it straight away, but as a rule Cuts happen to Fighters more, at the end of careers than at the beginning. Id rather use Caladula and Arnica Creams to keep the Skin supple, also for the Healing properties.
I will checkout those products you listed even though i still don't agree with you.I really do believe the Old School had it right.At least the fighters had excellent technique which you said.They never hardly clashed heads like these fighters do these days.

Yea but the skin can tear and cut which is the point of this post.. How would any fighter know these days since they don't use brine? That sofa analogy i gave was meant to be a joke not to be taken literally. I'm not ruling out headgear because i don't mind a very light one with very little padding. I was hoping somebody would link a video demonstrating how brine is made but no takers so far.No worries.....
Its true that brine makes the skin tougher. The technique of soaking hands in it goes back to the bare knuckle days. You develop calose hands and tough skin on your hands and it will be there for life. Which brings up a point...do you really want to do this to your face. Think about it guys...you won't be boxing all your life. You make your facial skin like leather, and exposure the sun, lack of moisture, scuffs and cuts, and a multitude of other things, will have you looking like your 70 when your 30.
Training with head gear is there for a reason...no amount of 'toughing' facial skin will substitute for that protection. If you go pro without the gear, it's not going to offer any more additional protection.

Leather might be harder to 'cut and tear' than flesh... but we're talking about skin that has ruptured and cracked from swelling/blunt impacts... not been torn like paper of slashed with a knife.
