Pacquiao Vs Marquez 4 to take place in May 2012 says Arum
Well looks like Arum wants to pit them once again and very soon! ... Anyone else think they are avoiding Floyd? lol. What are your thoughts on this? Want to see them again or have we seen all we need to? My heart can't take another robbery! Here is the article
Promoter ready to set up Pacquiao-Marquez IV - Boxing - Yahoo! Sports
LAS VEGAS – Only seconds after Manny Pacquiao squeezed out a majority decision victory over Juan Manuel Marquez on Saturday at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, prompting angry fans to pelt the ringside area with drinks, promoter Bob Arum said he’s going to do a fourth fight between the men.
Pacquiao retained his World Boxing Organization welterweight belt by defeating Marquez by the closest of margins. Judge Glenn Trowbridge had it 116-112. Dave Moretti saw it 115-113 and Robert Hoyle had it 114-114.
As he made his way through an angry crowd that shouted obscenities at him, Arum told Yahoo! Sports, “It was a great, great fight. I had Manny, but it was close, so why not bring them together again in May? It makes a lot of sense to do that.”
The fighters fought to a split draw in 2004 in a featherweight fight. Pacquiao won a split decision in a super featherweight title fight in 2008.
Representatives of Floyd Mayweather Jr. had reserved the MGM Grand for May 5, ostensibly to make a fight with Pacquiao. On Friday, Golden Boy’s Oscar De La Hoya said the fight was closer than ever, but with Arum’s announcement, the richest fight in history will be on hold for a while longer.

Having a 4th fight makes the most sense at this point, I hope it happens.

Anything to keep him away from Floyd a little longer.
I dont like it for Marquez. Can you imagine how deflated he must feel? He knows full well what stage of his career he is at and that maybe that was just has last good performance. He might feel he cant put the same effort in to the next training camp knowing no matter what he does bar a KO he wont win because Arum wants that Mayweather fight.
Arum will put Manny in with Floyd eventually because its daft not to but for now he will milk him for what hes worth.
I do think that Marquez will have an even better chance, his skills are still there but Mannys speed is going, its been masked by the level of opponents over the last couple of years.

After hearing about all that transpired with the judges not having seen this fight because of my work schedule, I hear Bob Arum's mouth is spewing saliva at the prospect of a fourth match. One thing I have always believed is that promoter aren't worth their weight in dog excrement when it comes to honor. Now I really begin to wonder about the decision. Let's not forget I haven't seen the fight but I smell bullshit.

JMM needs the larger purse or tell em to shove it.

There's an outrage in Mexico right now and Arum knows better. It was the Mexican's who have been fattening up Arum's pockets all these years so it's wise not to piss them off..
It's only right for the 4th bout to be held in Mexico and Im pretty sure if Pacman gets another gift over there, he's not going to make it out alive. There's going to be a riot and bad things might happen to him.. Who knows, he could even suffer the same fate as those soccer goalies who failed to block a shot.. dudes be getting killed over stuff like that.
There is no way Marquez gets robbed in Mexico.. It's too dangerous..

" If I don't get you a Pac fight (which doesn't look like it will happen any time soon), I'll first try to get a Floyd fight as that would be a huge payday. Since that probably won't happen, I'll get you a relatively easy fight on Pac's next undercard and you can earn another million dollars and stay undefeated."

If Pacman doesn't fight Floyd on May 5 then it will never happen, i believe the Pacman is slipping. It's May 5 or nothing for PBF V PAC. I want to see Pacquaio V Floyd because of the unknown factor, Pacman V Marquez can always occur later irrespective of the result against Floyd. PBF must be loving the fact that Arum wants another Marquez fight with Pacman just to soften him up again. Another Marquez war is not what Pacquaio needs before facing Floyd, it will take it's toll if it hasn't done so already..

What's the unknown bruh? Floyd-pac is one of the easiest fights to predict ever. There is nothing intriguing about the fight besides the fact that its between pfp #1 and 2.. In reality, its just a big mismatch.
4th marquez bout must happen asap cuz marquez isnt getting any younger and theres unfinished business.
Re: Pacquiao Vs Marquez 4 to take place in May 2012 says Arum
fuck it put in Dallas Cowboys Stadium, Marquez gets double the pay he did for this fight or he should piss in Arum's face

I'd rather see Marquez-Arum 1 than Pacquiao-Marquez 4.

i hope Pac retires i dont want to see him hurt.

How about in the Philippines with all Mexican Judges?

I don't think there is any unfinished business with Manny. Marquez won again and did it more convincingly than ever. What's the point in doing it yet again.
Marquez doesn't need Manny anymore. We all saw what happened, Manny lost the fight.
That's 3 and 0 to Marquez. 4 is just taking the piss out of Pacquiao.
I would prefer Marquez to walk away and maybe go for a belt at 140 before calling it a day.

Agreed. They could fight until Marquez turns 55. He has nothing left to prove. Pac, drug allegations aside, has just tarnished the remainder of his legacy by stating he "won" the fight. If he'd stepped aside and taken a legitimate loss like a man while congratulating Marquez on a good fight, he would've risen in my books. I don't want to see a Pac/Marquez 4. I don't even know that I want to see a Pac/Mayweather anymore. It was really a dark weekend for boxing.
Re: Pacquiao Vs Marquez 4 to take place in May 2012 says Arum
I would MUCH rather see Mayweather-Pacquiao than a fourth fight with Marquez. We know all there is to know -- Pac and JMM are evenly matched, period. The fourth fight will be the same: close and probably controversial. Moreover, this last one wasn't even that great of a fight -- nice because it was close, but very little action.
I agree that Mayweather over Pac is pretty much a foregone conclusion -- I've said and thought so for years. But that fight still ought to happen and with Pac looking not-so-hot in this fight over a guy Mayweather completely outclassed (notwithstanding the general A-over-B and B-over-C =/= A-over-C), Mayweather will jump to make the fight now. Enough risk off the table for the most risk-averse boxer out there.
Curious to see if The Ring goes ahead and swaps PBF into the #1 PFP spot tomorrow already. They clearly should.

I believe the Mayweather v. Pacquiao fight lost its intrigue. Does anyone who is honest with themselves really believe Pacquiao has a chance? I always thought Mayweather had the edge, but now I don't think Manny has a chance at all.
The biggest loser after last night has to be Mayweather because the intrigue for a fight between Manny and Mayweather took a huge hit. What else is out there for Mayweather now? Maybe Khan in a year after he grows into welterweight? Martinez at junior middleweight? No one wants to see Ortiz again. Maybe if Berto wins that's a fight that could happen.
A fourth fight with JMM makes more sense. Two future hof's who are evenly matched. What's not to like? I'm just not sure the public wants to see it again because it's clear the outcome will be the same as it was the last three fights.
Pacquiao versus Bradley would also be a fun fight as would Pacquiao versus the Berto/Ortiz winner.
Re: Pacquiao Vs Marquez 4 to take place in May 2012 says Arum
JMM should just move on now. He and the fans all know he won he has nothing left to prove to anyone. Put Pac in the ring with Floyd already, it's seems to me Bob is really trying to avoid going into negotiations with Floyd by trying to hurry up and sign another fight for Manny.

I'm sure that from Floyd's perspective, the apparent removal of risk of loss more than makes up for any loss of "intrigue." It's not like "non-intriguing" has ever dissuaded Floyd from making a fight he's sure he'll win -- look at every single fight he's had in the last 10 years. And it's not like the fight was getting made with Pacquiao when it was more "intriguing."
It's still #1 vs. #2 PFP -- it's so rare that the guys in those positions are even close in weight class. And it is still a huge fight -- still by far the biggest and most lucrative fight that can be made. It would gross at least 4x what Pac-Marquez 4 would. Not that that's the only consideration, but the reason it would make the most $$ is because it's still the fight most people want most.
(Doug Fischer at Ring still thinks Pac has a serious shot at beating PBF, fwiw. I don't agree, but his argument for that position isn't totally unreasonable.)
