Margarito has articial lens inserted into his eye.. Any eye specialist here?
This is the only thing that keeps me from betting on Margarito..
He was eating up punches like candy and i just can't imagine his eye taking the same punishment..
Any of you believe his eye isn't an issue?

That's the only thing that keeps you from betting on Margarito? The fact that he's never won a fight against a halfway decent fighter without cheating (as far as we know) doesn't give you pause?
He's nothing but a good chin without the plaster.

What a joke. He got only a one-year suspension -- the amount of time plenty of fighters take off between fights anyway. And then came back and got the biggest payday of his career, by far -- largely *because* of the WWF/controversy aspect he brings by being a cheater.
The guy benefited tremendously from his own wrongdoing. He didn't pay any price with that nominal suspension. It should have been lifetime.

You got to separate personal feelings with business bruh.. As a business man/Gambler, im going to make moves whether that fighter is perceived as a cheater or not.
Margo's granite chin, pressure, and his uppercuts were the main factors in the first bout... Plaster or no plaster...
Im just not sold on his eye though.... oh well....

I agree with you on business/personal. And I was being a little snarky. But it wasn't all tongue-in-cheek. His three fights since getting busted, he's gotten his ass beat twice, and looked awful against a nobody once. I think the guy's done -- whether that's because he was never anything (without cheating) to begin with or whether he's just shot at this point is irrelevant as far as the betting goes.

Excuse me.... Cotto didn't call out Margarito. Obviously you know this was drummed up behind the scenes by the promoters, don't you? In any case... Cotto doesn't NEED this fight with Margacheato. If anything, Margacheato needs it to prove he can beat him LEGIT. And Cotto doesn't NEED redemption. Redemption from what? From losing to a convicted cheater who got caught a fight later?

Not lying bruh..I could be wrong but from what i know, Cotto was more eager to face him after realizing Margarito is no longer the same fighter...
When he tried to call that catchweight, margo declined the fight, so then he ended up compromising for 153... That pretty much tells us who wants and needs the fight more.
Margarito gave him his first loss in a most brutal fashion so he definitely needs to avenge that..On top of that, he didnt look great in his last few bouts so he definitely needs this fight for redemption..
If this rematch never got made, U think Cotto could live with himself knowing that he lost to a known cheater??
Of course he needs this fight more than margo does.. How can you disagree with that?

I think Margarito needs it more than Cotto, and I got the impression during the Kellerman interview that they both think so, too. I definitely think that Cotto can live with himself knowing that he lost to a known cheater, because whether it's true or not, lots of people think that Margarito cheated, and only won because he cheated. I think it's Margarito who can't live with knowing that many people think that he couldn't beat Cotto fair and square. He's the one who was really looking and sounding like the guy who has something to prove. The loaded gloves hurt his reputation more than the loss hurt Cotto's.
As for the eye, he says he's 100% and ready to go, so no excuses for him, and the gloves will, no doubt, be checked thoroughly, so no excuses for Cotto, either. I'll give major props to whoever wins. Let's get ready to rummmmmmmmmmmmmbbbblllllllllllllllllle.

Back to the original post, is Margarito's eye more susceptible to breaking down than the average eye is since the operation? If Cotto constantly tags it could that affect Margarito's vision during the course of the fight?

Yes and yes, without being any kind of an expert in the slightest. Any significant scar tissue even will make the area much more vulnerable and likely to cut easily, having had a break on the orbital bone and that much swelling to the eye makes it very dangerous for Margarito imo. You can tell by looking at him that the eye and cheekbone are slightly off, it's definetly a target for Cotto and could be quite brutal to watch.:-X

As I have said in another post Cotto will aim to land on the eye as frequently as possible. Remember Larry Holmes went in against Holyfield with contact lenses and they got knocked out during the fight.

Thats true. I sparred wearing contact lenses once and a jab knocked them right out, painfully.

People keep bringing up that resto and Margaritos are the same case but they are not. Margarito never got caught doing it in the ring he got caught before the fight there is a difference you know.

The difference is one of pure chance. If you shoot at somebody and miss, you ain't gonna get probation just because nobody got hurt.

"Artificial Lens" ?
I'm no specialist but I do know this has to do with his vision and not the retnia detachment he suffered against Pacquiao. Margarito has always had bad vision. Both my parents have had this done due to cataracts. I suspect he also had cataracts. My dad's retnia was is also detached but due to his old age of 97. They tried to help it heal with steriods.

both these guys have lost atleast 35% of what they were before there first fight, they both cut and swell alot easier and havent the stamina to set the pace in there first epic battle...this is a fight only latino macho men would take at this stage in there boxing lives, this could be the last fight for both of them. Margarito is still bigger and stronger but his chin isnt as strong due to faded reflexs and same with cotto, cotto still has the better speed and skills...maybe this time Miguel can take advantage of tonys come forward style.
