Re: Alexander-Maidana close to being finalized for Jan/Feb
I wouldn't mind seeing this fight, wasn't Malignaggi targeting Alexander?
I think Alexander could dominate this fight

Re: Alexander-Maidana close to being finalized for Jan/Feb
Maidana won't win a round.

I tend to agree, I really like Maidana but I feel Alexanders style is all wrong for him

Alexander punk out against Bradley. Although, he have good boxing skills, pressure will bust pipes. And Alexander don't like pressure.

Glad these 2 are fighting. Take away every gift opponent Mayweather had in mind.

Pacquiao might still be available I thought..:p
I like this fight to, Maidana isn't about to put rounds in the bag but I do feel he could get to Alexander if he really stays on him. Kind of depends where Alexander is at, he certainly has the tools and style to put a clinic on but I'm not sure he really likes to fight, if Maidana were to catch him with something big it could be really fun to watch.

Re: Alexander-Maidana close to being finalized for Jan/Feb
maidana is more conistent with his pressure unlike mythese and he has a better shot with maidana.
Alexander better be up for this cuz maidana will be in his face all night punching and landind wherever he can.

I felt alexander lost that fight with mathyse as well as kotelnik, he throws punches and grunts but most of the time shit aint even landing, not even gloves or elbows. If maidana can apply and smarten up his pressure and straighten up his right a tad bit hell find alexander's chin all night and get him outa there somewhere late in the fight. Ill be rooting for mm but he better not let it go to the cards, specially if the shits in stl.

I don't know why Maidana is leaving 140. I understand why with Alexander because he is chasing big money. He arguably has three losses on his record right now. I thought he lost the fight with Kotelnik and Matthysse or at the very least, they were close.
I would have preferred Maidana versus Guerrero or Maidana, Rios or versus...gasp...Soto.
This is a fight where I'll be rooting for Maidana. It'll be interesting to see if Alexander is different at 147. Frankly, he lost his luster after losing to Bradley.

Not a fan ov Alexander can't forgive the way he shit him self against Bradley!pussy!maidana may b 1 ov the most limited top ranked fighters av ever seen but he can seriously bang!hopefully he catches Alexander and gets him out of ther!

Re: Alexander-Maidana close to being finalized for Jan/Feb
Alexander has imo, lost his last three bouts.
Alexander doesn't appear to deal with pressure fighters very well and Maidana is one of the hardest hitting pressure fighters at 140.
Alexander has alot to prove now and certainly has the boxing ability to box circles around Maidana though.
50/50 fight for me, can't pick a winner.

Re: Alexander-Maidana close to being finalized for Jan/Feb
I think Alexander should outbox Maidana as he is too fast and slick for him.

He should of been took slick for Matthsye, Kotelnik, but he wasn't. Infact i think he lost both fights by a fair margin, if this is 10 rounds Devon Alexander maybe able to hold on and earn a controversial decision.

Re: Alexander-Maidana close to being finalized for Jan/Feb
This is a interesting fight, Maidana not if but
when he catch's Alexander, I can't see it
going no more than 6 round's.
The winner Maidana.;D
-
Re: Alexander-Maidana close to being finalized for Jan/Feb
I reckon Alexander wins the early rounds then Maidana's pressure gets to him and gets stopped late on, but if he survives he wins a controversial decision. I might be wrong but that's what his last few fights show.
-
So seems like most everyone thinks alexander should have 3 losses, oh what marketing and hometown advantage can do for ya in boxing, in no other sport can a loss turn into a win...I wasn't aware maidanas going up to 147 sort of blows, would have loved to see him in with matthyse, guerrero, rios all awesome fights, still can be made just one weight class but still...

Kotelnik fight was close, but Alexander DEFINATELY lost to Matthysse.
Maidana is a lot like Matthysse, but not quite as clever of boxer.

more of a bruiser though. he beat Matthysse as an amateur. google it. the story of it is worth a read.

I actually think both fights were just as controversial, i see Kotelnik landing all the head snapping and clean punches vs Alexander.

I thought both guys beat Devon quite clearly.
He was very lucky to get those decisions.

Alexander-Mythese was a clear robbery. There's just no other way to put it.
In fact, i bet $100 with my friend that night and I picked Alexander but I felt too ashamed to even take the homie's money so i let em slide..
That was a robjob in the Louie..

I think maidana is going to outwork/smother Alexander and possibly stop him.

I totally agree. Alexander aint that great. He should have lost to Mathyse (robbery) . He lost to Bradley, and should have lost to Kotelnik (bad decision) . So he should be on a 3 fight losing streak. Only way Alexander is winning is by judges giving him gift rounds

This is why I think froch will beat ward!
But back to maidana I just think he's too strong, too good defence and is in so close the only way to slow him is express train power or be a slugger yourself.

Even in the UK , I think Ward beats Froch. Too good of a boxer for him. I hope Maidana ko's Alexander. Mathysse had him hurt, so I think Maidana will also .

Re: Alexander-Maidana close to being finalized for Jan/Feb
Well i thought the Maythesse fight was draw pretty much and i think i gave a score card. I think he got enough of the earlier rounds to get the draw Maythesse gives up far to many of the early rounds.

Yeah he will outbox froch if froch decides to box but froch won't box this time!!
Froch will pascal on ward me thinks, froch is too fit too many punches too much chin and the ability to fight back dirty.
Speed will not be a factor in this one unless your as fast as dirrell and ward is no faster than pascal

I highly doubt Froch will ever have the option to really box with Ward, and Ward is everything else better than Pascal... Looking forward to that fight though and don't write Froch off I just think he won't get to Ward the way he'd need to.
