How much you think Haye SHOULD get paid for fighting Vitali?

Just saw where Haye says he wants to fight Vitali, and admits he doesn't deserve a 50/50 split. Gee, really David?

Anyway, just thought it'd be interesting to see what everyone else thinks about this. So this poll is to see just that. The choices begin at 50/50 and work their way down from there, since I don't think anyone out there actually thinks Haye should be paid more.

On second thought, I added a choice for "Haye should be paid more". What the hell.... someone out there probably actually thinks that way.

30/70. To be a bit generous. He would deserve more if he would have manned up in his defeat agaisnt Wlad and didn't make all that empty yip-yapping.

Good, reasonable choice. I personally think we should start holding fighters accountable for their efforts come fight time, and voted "only if he actually tries this time". Sounds outlandish, but maybe this kind of thing would help boxing by making the fights better.

Yea I think he should probably have his training expenses and airfare covered, but the rest of a possible 15% purse would be on a performance basis;D

Vtali wouldnt get half as much for a fight with helenius and provetkin on the same night

therefore haye deserves a large wad of the cash

Based on the entertainment value of his last fight, I'd say he deserves 50...

How often do big fights have fair percentage splits these days based on boxing merit and achievement alone ?

He doesn't deserve as much as Vitali thats for sure but as eric points out he is giving Vit a massive pay day too so deserves more for that . 40\60 probably in the right ball park

Yep, im in agreement with this, Vitali see's this as a payday, bigger than any other payday out there at this time. Haye has to take props for that, 60-40 in Vitali's favour would be fair in my eyes!

They each should be paid 50/50 from HALF of the budget. The other half goes to the winner.

I was as disgusted as anyone else by Haye's performance against Wlad, but I still can't fault Vitali for giving Haye a 2nd crack at the Klitschkos.

Who else is out there? Love him or hate him, Haye sparks more fan interest than any other potential opponent out there. And he has more legitimate ability than the other contenders as well.

Does Haye have the same appeal in Britain/Europe as he did before the Wladimir fight? If he does then you are correct, but if not, he shouldn't get the same amount as he did to fight Wladimir. He got 50/50 for that one, right?

Does he still spark that same level of interest as he did before the Wladimir fight? He doesn't in the states. Are people still as interested in him in the UK?

What is your evidence that he has more legitimate ability? His Enzo KO? At heavyweight, he would need to beat Adamek, Arreola, Povetkin etc. to gain my respect as a legitimate heavyweight.

Hayes still the 3rd best hw out there, and the biggest payday for vitali...... Unless he fights wlad!!

I've gone with this too. Seems about right.

Give Vitali what he was paid for his last fight and then Haye everything else.

Course Haye doesn't deserve the fight, or even the split, but then Vitali doesn't deserve to earn more than he's worth because Haye's more popular than him (outside of Germany & Ukraine at least).

Ultimately, two boring fighters, two boring personalities, and a fight which virtually no-one wants to see.

To answer the initial question:
A third of the pot, or half of what Vitali gets. Same difference.

I'm not right bothered to be honest. Haye obviously has an amount in mind that he thinks he should get although I do also think that he may be in it to restore some pride in this fight after pretty much no showing against Wlad.

I am interested in seeing the fight because I still think he is the 3rd best HW out there but as for money Vitali obviously should get quite a bit more as defending champ, maybe 30/70!

I think every fighter should get 50/50 as there is an argument on the other side that if you are this good then I should be getting more money than you as it is a bigger risk to my health ;)

But on this occasion 40/60 is fine... it it helps him jump the que and gets him the fight.

its not really the money but more a mental edge that says I'm a better fighter and the one drawing the crowds... but if he really thinks he has a good chance he should just say 20/80 with the 80 going to the winner after the fight is over ;)

I don't think haye deserves another big pay day. Or at least to jump the que for one!!

He embarrassed himself before during and after the last fight and has tried to play the public for fools during his whole retirement saga!! I'd have much more respect for him if he admitted he was awful last time out, had honestly planned to retire but couldn't go out like that! Not get all the press round, announce he's retiring to get the focus back on himself then 31 days later come out he wants to fight!!

That way if he pusses out again he gets very little money, if he does well and still loses he can come back and earn more money in a rematch or another fight.

Actually, I would venture that the UK is the *only* place where Haye is more popular/a bigger draw. Certainly Vitali is the much bigger name/draw in the U.S.

65/35 is fair in my view.

Glad to see so many responses to the question. It's a fair question, after all, and probably applies to many other fights out there. I'm not against the argument that it would be Haye that allows Vitali to have the bigger payday... mostly because of the lack of credible competition out there. But Haye DID disgrace himself in the ring against Wlad, and cheated the fans out of hard-earned money, by putting in a half-assed effort. Should he then be rewarded by getting another huge purse, just because inexplicably he still has a somewhat large fan base in the UK? To me.... his performance against Wlad has a lot of weight when it comes to how much he should get paid for a fight with Vitali. Something in the system should say: "Look jackass..... you're getting the shots you want.... now go out there and EARN your money." Why is this way of thinking wrong?
