Brandon Rios-John Murray... Borderline Mismatch? Fact.
Can anyone possibly see John "no defense" Murray lasting more than six rounds?
Murray is away from home, isn't a puncher, is coming off a KO loss and Rios, who is the best fighter he's faced, has 10 stoppages on the bounce. Murray will plod forward, as usual, with no head movement and get battered.
Rios must be a good bet here.
Rios rounds - 1-6 (13/8 - £100 returns £262)
Rios rounds - 1-4 (10/3 - £100 returns £433)
Rios rounds - 1-3 (11/2 - £100 returns £650)
Take your pick, it can't possibly go wrong. Fact (see you in the poorhouse).

You're 100% correct. Those are good odds on a stoppage between rounds 1-4.

Re: Brandon Rios-John Murray... Borderline Mismatch? Fact.
He's going to be a walking punchbag for rios, won't go past 4. Odds looking good on rounds 1-4.

Re: Brandon Rios-John Murray... Borderline Mismatch? Fact.
I really dont like matches for so called world titles , when the challenger qualifies by being Koed in his last fight which wasnt at world level, its just madness.
Murray will go by the 5th

Re: Brandon Rios-John Murray... Borderline Mismatch? Fact.
Murray will give a good account of himself, hope he wins this.

I hope he pulls the upset as no one is giving him a chance, he is a tough solid fighter, rios will suit him. :)

Re: Brandon Rios-John Murray... Borderline Mismatch? Fact.
I think so too.
Murray does nothing better than Rios in the ring, he's getting stopped early.
-
Re: Brandon Rios-John Murray... Borderline Mismatch? Fact.
I was thinking about this fight last night. Murray was well handled by Mitchell who looked pretty good but was not a world level fight.
I'd be interested to know how people would see this fight going had Muray been victorious last time out and and was still unbeaten. From the sounds of it Murray has no chance.
There has been minimal hype and build up for this scrap so not too many distractions for john Murray, has being left alone to train enabled him to get in fantastic condition mentally and physically and pull off the upset. Doesn't look like it.
Murray said he looked past mitchell which is obvious, all he said in interviews before that fight was how he was ready to take on Rios and the rest.
reckon it's going to be a mini war.
-
I am really am looking forward to this fight, although Murray lost to Mitchell theres no doubt he is still a top rated 135 fighter IMO. Hope he is highly motivated because Rios is a bull, I think it will be an entertaining fight whilst it lasts but I can see Rios being too strong for Murray. Will be a good win for Rios though if Murray gives a good account of himself.

Nothing borderline about it!
This will be painful

One fighter has 10 straight KO's, the other just suffered a KO loss at domestic level

Re: Brandon Rios-John Murray... Borderline Mismatch? Fact.
I also think Rios slaughters him

Rios failed to make weight 1.4lbs over then came back and weighed half a pound over now has 1 hour to 0.6lbs

Re: Brandon Rios-John Murray... Borderline Mismatch? Fact.
From what i just read, Rios has officially lost his belt. They say the fight will go on if Rios weighs a certain amount in the morning (i don't know what that weight is). If Murray wins he gets the belt, if Rios wins he still will no longer have his belt. So i guess Rios is going up to 140.

Rios had to weigh in under 147 which he did. Also he has to pay Murray $20,000 as part of the deal.

Am i the only one who thinks murray has a chance?
Rios is the favourite yes but if murray can keep him on the back foot you never know

Agreed, I completely understand Rios being the favourite but I dont see Murray as a big an underdog as the bookies make him.

I agree murrays a big underdog and has a real lack of of head movement, but saying he isnt a puncher???! Are you serious?? Murrays a big hitter with very gud body shots, i think if he can land afew bombs he has a punchers chance.....

Re: Brandon Rios-John Murray... Borderline Mismatch? Fact.
This was a very good fight and Murray did himself proud stood toe to toe with a exceptional fighter. I had Murray winning early. Rios is very very good.

i had Murray trailing only by 3 points at the time of the stoppage

Re: Brandon Rios-John Murray... Borderline Mismatch? Fact.
I thought the fight was much more competitive than the HBO crew made it out to be. Rios was better at the same style as Murray. More snap on the shots. In addition, Rios is blessed with a face that doesn't seem to swell up. He can take shots and he'll get marked but he doesn't get big swelling and bruising. Murray isn't. His face had alot of swelling.
Where does Murray go from here? He lost to Mitchell. He fought the top 135 pounder in the world very hard. After a long break, I would think a couple of easy fights would be in order.

Can someone lend me a tenner?

Re: Brandon Rios-John Murray... Borderline Mismatch? Fact.
Rios's weight made it a more of a mismatch in the end. Murray's face was so mashed i thought maybe Rios had dipped his wraps. I think if Rios moves up he gets found out big style. Murray is too stubborn and brave for his own good but will come again when he is not forced to fight a welterweight. Rios is such a schmuck, very dirty with lots of forearms and elbows and will get sparked by anyone with decent power up at 140 or 147.
-
Re: Brandon Rios-John Murray... Borderline Mismatch? Fact.
Murray did better than i expected.
He fought his heart out and showed alot of toughness.
Rios was just too strong for him.

I agree completely. It was a flat showing by Rios in my opinion. He looked so much better against Antillon.

Re: Brandon Rios-John Murray... Borderline Mismatch? Fact.
These guys must be huge for their weight, must starve themselves to make weight and then after the weigh in eat up and beat the little opponent afterwards. I thought Rios looked great.
