Failed to make the weight 3times 1st time was 1.4lbs over then 0.6 not sure what the last weigh was, so he loses the title.
Maybe murray has a better chance now that rios has been strugling with the weigh?

I actually think the extra weight will help him absorb better shots even though Murray's punching power is nothing to be afraid of..
There's a chance that he might be a tad sluggish and a boxer who can make him move could use that extra weight against him but Murray isn't capable of outboxing him.. He's going to come straight forward and play right into Rios' hands..
Rios is going to give him a beating..
Bogus move, you're a professional make the weight you committed to fight at. Rios probably gave up a little of his purse and fights a fighter that is in the weight class below his true class. Can't wait to see his hydrated weight. Trashy but, after all, we are talking about Rios.
I don't like Rios and I hate it when fighters lose the title on the scales, but if he can't make weight I suppose he deserves the punishment.
He'll probably still win, but it may not be easy if he's dehyrdated.
Saw this coming really. Dudes looked like a soft jr welter in last couple to me. Rios is "fun tv" but will go down as flavor of the month, clocks ticking.
Guys, the big news here is that in order to keep the fight booked, Rios agreed that he won't gain more than 10 lbs. overnight (he gets re-weighed at his hotel at 9am tomorrow). That means that he will end up coming in *lighter* and much weaker than he has in the past.
Or, maybe more likely, he'll miss that weight and the fight will be canceled.
He looked super weakened and dry at 136. This isn't a case of him not trying hard enough to make weight and coming in fat. It's a case of him having legitimately having outgrown 135 a while ago. He'll still be biggish at 140.
No chance that Gamboa fight ever happens in light of this -- Rios has to move up. Hopefully that means better chances of Gamboa/Donaire and Rios/Maidana.
I think most of us here shame the same opinion and that is sucked in! It is Brandon Rios we are talking about, classless dude with a big mouth getting what's coming to him, and I have no sympathy for him and his predicament!
I am really not a fan of Danny Garcia and his stable of fighters actually (Marg, Rios)!!!
Here we go again Guzman,: mark two.?:nono:
Rios has no class, at the press conference on Thursday after refusing to shake Murray's hand he said
"I saw fear in his eyes...that's why it's got me so hyped, because right now, I hate him. I'm ready to battle, I'm not ready to be your friend. I'm not here to shake your hand. As my opponent, you should be the same way. I'm going to talk shit to you, so you should talk shit back to me"
Apparently Murray and Joe Gallagher thought it was hilarious. Now we know why he was so rattled. Shaking hands is not what you do with friends it's a sign of sportsmanship and an agreement to get down to business, something Rios seems ill prepared for.
Apparently Rios consumed nothing - save for 4 ounces of water - in the 5 days leading up to the weigh in. That doesn't sound healthy at all, surely this will be Rios' last fight down at 135 if he's struggled that badly to make weight.
Rios re-weighs 146.4, fight with Murray is on | RingTV
By tonight he will be even heavier. I hope Murray exhausts him but fighting someone so much bigger ain't really fair. Either way Rios sucks. (awesome quality ink across his chest tho!)
Rios has been struggling to make weight for while so it's understandable.. still not professional but it's not the first time it's happened with fighters..
Rios could be 133, 135, 137 or whatever, Murray was brought in as a stepping stone and he should be thankful that he's even getting a fight with him..
Rios destroys him either way.. He might even do it faster now..
Rios need's to be more on the ball, after all he is
a pro fighter.?
Murray will give it a good go I feel it bud.?
I hope Murray smashes him. Don't forget Finito, Murray gave Mitchell a real argument and you rate him, so this ain't gonna be a walk in the park for Rios. Rios is not a million miles better than Murray but whatever happens Rios has already damaged his own reputation. He won't get as many plaudits thrown his way for beating a guy so much smaller than him and Rich your right, i smell an upset. The partisan Puerto Rican crowd will get behind Murray not Rios, as Fatboy is part of Margaritto's camp .Murray breaks him down midway, TKO Murray between rounds 7-9 .
I won't be shocked if Murray takes him, I smell an upset. I thought Rios would beat him easy but after seeing the weigh in I'm not to sure.
Ive not seen the weigh in myself but I reckon this all comes down to how hard Rios actually tried to make weight. If he genuinely tried and failed then he should be very weakened and Id give murray a decent chance of winning by late stoppage if he can take the early barrage.
If Rios didnt really try, knowing this is his last fight at the weight anyway then he'll be very strong and John will be in a world of hurt.
Rios despite being IMHO a total douchebag of a person still wins in a UD. Here's hoping I'm wrong though.. Rios would still be pushing the action most of the fight. Hopefully I'm wrong and Murray wins via an upset UD. Don't think he can KO Rios specially with Rios being a douche about his weight.
I guess Rios' immediate family must be the extent of his fan club. He had no defenders on the thread. Surprisingly, making fun of a Freddie's Parkinsons Disease and doing your best to act like a classless thug does not ingratiate you with a lot of people.)
That being said, humpty dumpty will stop Murray. He is has power and he punches with bad intentions and knows how to cut the ring off. I think he is beatable but I don't think Murray has the skill set.
Rios has been struggling with weight for a while. Guys who fight at 135 don't weigh 150 or so in the ring on a regular basis. 90% of the guys who fight at 135 weigh around 143-145 in the ring. Not 150. When you weigh what the junior welters usually weigh in the ring, then you probably should be fighting in that weight class.
Rios tried to unnaturally kill his body to make 135 for a while now. Finally his body told him no. Blame his trainer, his manager, his promoter, and him. All of them know he shouldn't have been at 135 and all of them kept rolling the dice.
