Who is the most ferocious fighter today ?
My vote goes to James Kirkland. His attitude and aggressiveness is reminiscent of a young Mike Tyson.
The Ishida blunder aside, I feel Kirkland is the most ferocious active boxer today.
What do you all think ?

Re: Who is the most ferocious fighter today ?
Rios fights with a ferocity that I like.
-
Re: Who is the most ferocious fighter today ?
Kirkland is a Ferocious fighter, very entertaining to watch not the best chin but gives his all.;)
-
Re: Who is the most ferocious fighter today ?
Rios in my opinion , he just gets in that ring to destroy his opponent, ruthless.
-
Re: Who is the most ferocious fighter today ?
this shows how out of touch I am getting with boxing these days - have only seen two fighters on that list fight :-\
-
A force. He is one scary mutha.
-
Re: Who is the most ferocious fighter today ?
Id say Rios, I watched Cloud against Johnson and he slacked off against the ropes against an old man! Kirkland is another knockout loss waiting to happen. Rios has a ferocious attitude an indomitable will and a good engine.
-
Kimbo slice..if he can make it past rd1
Lol

Re: Who is the most ferocious fighter today ?
My boy JI HOON KIM aka Lava is the most ferocious fighter today.. straight the fuck up.. Watch his fights and tell me he's not fearless.. The boy is looney, too ferocious for his own good.
-
Re: Who is the most ferocious fighter today ?
From that list I voted Rios...
I think Gamboa is at the top of the list though.
-
Re: Who is the most ferocious fighter today ?
Couldn't help but noticing that Peter Manfredo was left off the list.

More swinging then a 1970's coke party in the suburbs, no doubt. But he tempered it in his last fight, showed some patience and boxing.

I love Gamboa and he's a super talent, but he's also content to cruise to a dominant decision win rather than take his opponent out.
-
Re: Who is the most ferocious fighter today ?
After Gamboa shreds Rios apart, people will recognize Gamboa as the next great thing.
-
Re: Who is the most ferocious fighter today ?
Angulo should be up there as well, even though Kirkland got the better of him.
Kirkland should win this hands down me thinks.

Agree. Kirkland fights like his literal life depends on it. More so knowing what its like to be exposed, whipped and to fall from the ivory tower.
-
Re: Who is the most ferocious fighter today ?
I think Kirkland is a good call. The loss to Ishida seemed to only make him more desperate against Angulo when he was in spots of trouble, it seems he doesn't know how to fight without urgency and it's fun to watch. Rios and Margarito are hard as nails but don't quite have the same tenacity or raw athletecism.

Re: Who is the most ferocious fighter today ?
Ferocious would be someone who opponents fear to fight. I doubt very much that any top fighters fear Kirkland after seeing him get splattered by a non punvher in the first and then getting dropped and almost stopped by another non puncher that Cintron beat...
Whereas Rios can go and go and take anything dished out.

Your right.
Truth be told I wanted to put Mayorga on the list ! ;D;)
-
Re: Who is the most ferocious fighter today ?
I'm betting Angulo and his people watched that Ishida fight a few times too
I'd fear what Kirkland instantly comes back with knowing that he's proven he can come back from the brink a few times and defeat.

Ferocity is down to the individual fighters approach, by definition it has nothing to do with how they are perceived by opponents. You fail as usual.

Ok, getting dropped and knocked out by weak opponents is ferocious...
Yes, Mayorga was ferocious! He threw almost every punch as though he was trying to smash the front door of his house as it burning with his family in it!
-
Re: Who is the most ferocious fighter today ?
I voted Rios because he throws every punch with the intent to do real damage.
-
Re: Who is the most ferocious fighter today ?
Well it looks like the only way to settle this is to have Kirkland and Rios fight each other. ;)
-
Re: Who is the most ferocious fighter today ?
As good as these lot are, they are no Tyson or Nigel Benn.

Benn was at times rocked and hurt by not so huge bangers to start he can't be considered "ferocious" ;D
even though he was trying to rip off heads and shate down necks early on!
-
Re: Who is the most ferocious fighter today ?
Definitely Rios. Kirkland did a nice job in his fight with Alfredo, but watching a zombie-like weight drained Rios pound the shit out of a well trained guy who could have done nothing to save himself was a wake up call for me.

Still makes Benn ferocious, every punch was aimed to take you apart.
-
Re: Who is the most ferocious fighter today ?
Yep, Benn didnt get knocked out by nobodies and soft punching ones at that. Benn took everything McClellan could dish out
-
I have seen goldfish with more teeth than Rios. Ferocious? Really ? It's quite easy to be ferocious when you don't make weight and have to pay someone to allow you to come in to the ring so much heavier. Until he shares the ring with someone smart enough to make space and make him pay for his come forward style I think it's a bit early to crown him mister ferocious. If he still marches forward after getting caught clean a few times then maybe, but you could make a case for Murray being just as fierce after not stepping back whilst being so much lighter and having that much damage to your face.
-
Peterson looked pretty ferocious in the ring against Khan.
-
Re: Who is the most ferocious fighter today ?
These guys are not vicious, they are pussy cats.

Thats what I'm saying bud. Early on and in spots Benn was dropped and hurt by non lethal hitters, Logan, Galvano, Dewitt etc. He was the epitome of fearless and got up exactly like he went down...hard!! Any fighter can be hurt at any time...any! Kirkland is not on his way to accomplishing what Benn had nor even start to box as Nigel had late in career but he's a cyclone. Fast & straight is Kirklands downfall but he unlike Rios has been at least ferocious enough in the gym and the ring to not lose his championship on the scales and come in zombie walking his way through, as mentioned before. I think the way these guys take shots is telling...Kirkland gets dinged and "short circuits" for a sec. Its like he's completely aware but he's sparking and legs say hell no, then he seems to bounce back and is still pitching. Rios absorbs and soaks it up, Antillion hurt his body, Acosta made him sag but it's like slowly chipping away at a wall. He reminds me of a guy who's chin suddenly goes one night, hasn't had to learn a backfoot and that'll be it.

Mayorga is a good call! Maybe not now but those performances against Vernon must have made his future opponents shit bricks! At that time I'd say he was one of the most ferocious

Re: Who is the most ferocious fighter today ?
When I think of a ferocious fighter I think of an irresistible force. I think Manny Pacquiao has been that guy for the longest time.

yeah carwin can just totally physically dominate a guy. I think he's brilliant.
Pacquiao is the same in that he just seems to immascultae guys. It's true that he isnt saddistic as some of the other guys but then thats a trait of a bully... Manny cuts a different mould.
