Right now? Yeah probably..who cares about Pavlik anymore?
In his Jermaine Taylor days he knocks Jrs head off his shoulders...In both their primes? We dont know how good Jr will get but he's improving. I'd guess it would be close.
Chavez would slaughter him.

Pavlik looked pretty bad in his last fight, but I have to believe he would be up for a fight with Chavez and still be able to beat him.
Sadly, it would be a close fight at this point.
Kinda pointless really. The shadow of Pavlik, or ghost, would frankly be a step down as far as current standings. Not to mention I'm not sure Kelly wants to fight at cruiserweight where Chavez seems to be headed :-X

To bad kelly went off the deep end, but the pavlik that fought martinez beats chavez. I mean chavez is improving and everything but his main advantage is he weighs 30lbs over the limit come fight night.
If Pavlik can get himself back into any kind of form at all then it's an interesting fight imo, for now I think they are just heading opposite ways and Chavez would probably have way to much. Even if Pavlik were at his best form I don't think he'd have an easy night with Chavez at all, it would be a war imo.
At super middle it would be an interesting fight, Jnr is not that good and Pavlik now is not that good. Good match up.
Funny how styles makes fights. Although I would give Kelly a great chance in beating Jr, I think Jr. whips Martinez.
Hopefully we can get Jcc Jr vs Martinez
if kelly gets his old fire back, junior gets destroyed.

From everything I can see on Ellie Seckbach's reporting of Kelly Pavlik at Robert Garcia's gym in Oxnard, California, Kelly Pavlik looks to be re-devoted to boxing. If Kelly Pavlik is sober, motivated, and game, he would destroy Chavez Jr. Knock him out in under 8. I'm talking the current Kelly Pavlik too. Compare their performances against Marco Antonio Rubio. Rubio went twelve with Chavez Jr. Kelly Pavlik knocked him out in 8 after being dominated by Bernard Hopkins.
Motivated in the gym is one thing though, let's see Kelly in a fight. I believe they are talking about April/May on an undercard in a tune up.
Chavez Jr. is the perfect style match-up for Kelly Pavlik. Martinez, Ward, Bute, aren't.
Chavez should fight froch at catchweight
seeing how Pavlik is more or less shot well Chavez would probably beat him by UD, seeing how the kid has virtually no power even with a 20+lb weight advantage, as for the "Catchweight" Froch fight, catchweight for who? Froch shouldn't have to cut down in weight when Chavez Jr shows up at 180+ lbs on fight night
I'm going with NC after JCC2 tests positive for diuretics. What's the over/under on how many times Jr. has to weigh in?

I saw this too. Actually, Gomez has been rapping for a minute now. Gomez likes Kelly Pavlik in that fight. Frankly, it's a good fight. Chavez Jr. appears to be on the rise and Pavlik appears to be on the slide although Pavlik allegedly has rededicated himself in Oxnard with Robert Garcia and the Brandon Rios crew. It's an exciting fight. However, from what I've read, Andy Lee is going to be Chavez Jr.'s next opponent.Quote:

Another pointless Chavez Jr. fight..... facing the shell of a formerly good fighter. But par for the course as far as Chavez's career has been handled. Even a 70% prime Pavlik would rip Junior a new one. Unfortunately, Pavlik is not even at 50% of what he used to be.
Now, the rumor for Chavez's next fight is Martin Murray from England.
