Gavin Rees v Anthony Mezaache & Enzo Maccarinelli v Shane McPhilbin
Two decent fights on tonight, Rees defending his Euro title in France against Mezaache, and Macc v Mcphilbin for the British title. Got to say I'm hoping for a Welsh double, and they've both got to be favourites for their fights.
Macc may be a little delicate, but he should be way too good for McPhilbin, and Rees should have plenty of work rate to outwork Mezaache at a canter.

Re: Gavin Rees v Anthony Mezaache & Enzo Maccarinelli v Shane McPhilbin
These French like to drag it out don't they? Rees and Mezaache have been in the ring for around 7-8 minutes now, and they're playing some muzak national anthem. Looks like both fights are starting around the same time. bummer.

Think it was the Morrocan one in honour of the soldiers that Scum shot before the Tolouse massacre.

I'm watching Rees because boxnation have cutt me off due to difficulties collecting my payment. Rees looking good.

Re: Gavin Rees v Anthony Mezaache & Enzo Maccarinelli v Shane McPhilbin
I've got two streams open running side by side. McPhilbin looks like Danny Dyer on bloody holiday. And Rees has the complexion of a welshman.

Difficulties relating to not having any money or just incompetence on their behalf?

Not having any money, lol. Think I mucked up payment dates.

Re: Gavin Rees v Anthony Mezaache & Enzo Maccarinelli v Shane McPhilbin
Maccarinelli just got saved by the bell!!!!!
Round 1 he goes down, bell goes for the end of round 1 with 47 seconds remaining!
-
Re: Gavin Rees v Anthony Mezaache & Enzo Maccarinelli v Shane McPhilbin
Mezaache was a bloody mess. Surprised they got that cut under control.
Rees looking good...hopefully he doesn't gas.

His head is a mess now, just hope the judges aren't swayed by the crowd. Rees is all over him.

Re: Gavin Rees v Anthony Mezaache & Enzo Maccarinelli v Shane McPhilbin
Maccarinelli has been down twice, and the first round only lasted 2:13 and saved him after his first knockdown! He's well behind, but dominated round four. I can't believe I'm seeing this!

It's a fuckin disgrace. Enzo should have been KO'd in the first. The timekeeper also counted two knockdowns for Macc in the third that didn't happen.
-
Re: Gavin Rees v Anthony Mezaache & Enzo Maccarinelli v Shane McPhilbin
Enzo's going to win this one. He's taken three of the last four on points and McPhilbin is dead weight.
I love Enzo, he's an absolute gent, but if he gets away with this then he better buy a lotto ticket tomorrow.

What round is it now?
-
Re: Gavin Rees v Anthony Mezaache & Enzo Maccarinelli v Shane McPhilbin
Just finished the tenth, and I've got Enzo 4 ahead. Can't believe I'm saying it after the first 3.
-
Re: Gavin Rees v Anthony Mezaache & Enzo Maccarinelli v Shane McPhilbin
Enzo survives 12 rounds, and he'll get the decision. But he was completely out when the bell went early for the end of the first round.
Result should have been McPhilbin KO1
Result will be Enzo UD
Rematch has to be called. The timekeeper was an absolute shambles.
-
Re: Gavin Rees v Anthony Mezaache & Enzo Maccarinelli v Shane McPhilbin
111-115; 111-116; 110-116.
Maccarinelli wins, and he is one lucky boy. McPhilbin did well for the first three rounds, but didn't have the stamina or the luck frankly to capitalise.
-
Re: Gavin Rees v Anthony Mezaache & Enzo Maccarinelli v Shane McPhilbin
Yep McPhilbin got fucked. I'm 80% sure he would have finshed that in round 1. Fix or mistake? Its hard to make an error that big in timing. I had McPhilbin KO at 14/1 as well, slightly annoyed!

Hope you didn't have too much money on that one. There was no way he was getting through the first without the rescue bell. Got to be a mistake, the timekeeper was a shambles. He must've tried to call a knockdown five or six times incorrectly through the fight.

Nah just a couple of quid but wlda been a nice one!
Credit for Enzo for battling through but Enzo NEEDS to retire. Anything clean and hes done. Almost zero punch resistance. Retire having 'won' the title youre Dad wanted you to win.

He didn't get away with shit. It wasn't luck that got him the win. Enzo should be arrested for receiving stolen property. Cuz that win was stolen from McPhilbin. Enzo was on his way to another spectacular highlight reel KO by loss. There was no way he makes it out of that round if the bell don't ring early. 47 seconds is a fucking disgrace. 5 seconds, 10 seconds early. Fine. Hell even 15 seconds early I can maybe, maybe let slide. 47 seconds? Come the fuck on.

the round ending early was a sham
havin said that tho enzo won rounds 4 to 12 quite clearly plus the knockdown so the scores were pretty refelctive of the fight
-
Re: Gavin Rees v Anthony Mezaache & Enzo Maccarinelli v Shane McPhilbin
This was a complete joke Mcphibin was cheated out of a legit win.
-
Re: Gavin Rees v Anthony Mezaache & Enzo Maccarinelli v Shane McPhilbin
and it was a shit fight after round 3
mcphilbin wasnt throwing any punches and was just holding
he should have been warned and dq'd it was that bad
at the end the mc said put your hands together for these fighters who gave it their all, they never because mcphilbin threw about 3 punches after round 3, IMO more of the rounds could have been 10-8 to enzo, if you dont throw a single punch in a round surely it cant be scored 10-9
and bunce gave mcphilbin the 6th? what fight was he watching? that was as close to being a 10-8 round without a knockdown as you can get

Come the fuck on? Have you even read the rest of the thread. I have clearly stated that McPhilbin was robbed and the early ending to the round was a disgrace.
As for getting away with it...who has the W on their record after a catastrophic timekeeping error? Sounds like getting away with it to me...

Re: Gavin Rees v Anthony Mezaache & Enzo Maccarinelli v Shane McPhilbin
Anyone who had a bet on Mcphlbin by KO should get their money back. That was as dodgy as anything Ive seen. If they let that go then anytime a fighter is in toruble they can just ring the bell to save them and the sport becomes a farce. Accidental or not there was money on that fight and someones mistake has robbed people of cash.

Yeah. Timekeeping error.
If you watch the whole fight you'll realise how utterly incompetent that timekeeper was. He started counting for a knockdown on four or five occasions when there wasn't a knockdown.

Maccarinelli-McPhilbin II Ordered, Timekeeper Suspended - Boxing News
Quote:
Enzo Maccarinelli has been ordered to a rematch against Shane McPhilbin for the British cruiserweight title.
Controversy surrounded the original fight when the bell to end the first round was sounded 47 seconds early.
Maccarinelli had been knocked down by title holder McPhilbin seconds earlier and was clearly hurt as he stood up.
Timekeeper Martin Fallon has since been suspended until 1 January 2013 by the British Boxing Board of Control, who have ordered a rematch before October.
Maccarinelli was also knocked down in the third round as McPhilbin continued to dominate the early exchanges.
But the 31-year-old former WBO cruiserweight champion recovered to take a unanimous points verdict, giving him his first British title of his career.
McPhilbin's manager, Carl Greaves, called for a rematch shortly after the judges' verdicts were given and the BBBofC have sanctioned the fight following an enquiry into the events of the first round.

fuckin fantastic

Re: Gavin Rees v Anthony Mezaache & Enzo Maccarinelli v Shane McPhilbin
There are plenty of fights that I would love to see again. This isn't one of them.
However, in the interests of fairness and to give McPhilbin the chance to make more money and to have a shot at getting his title back, then it should happen. Maybe make it a dinner show with a comedian so at least people get some entertainment for their money.

Shame that in all of this, Gavin Rees excellent performance in France has been a bit forgotten.
