B-Hop vs Dawson ---- Who Wins???
I honestly don't know how B-Hop been staying on top of his game. Nor do I know, how he's running from father time. Nonetheless, Hopkins always come ready and in shape. On the other hand, Bad Chad might be the futrure of this division. MIGHT!!!
I loss a lot of money beting against Hopkins. He surely made me respect him. So I can't go against him. But if anyone can beat him decisively, it has to be Dawson.
Who wins?

Who cares! J/K Ant.. ;)
Truthfully though, you can see by the lack of a response, there's not much interest in this fight.
I agree that it's hard to go against Hopkins, but like you say, if anyone can beat Hopkins, it's Dawson.
I wanna see this fight on HBO April 28th, because #1.This time it's not a PPV and #2.These 2 muther-fuckers seem to genuinely hate each other, that makes for a good fight.
As for who wins, i'm leaning towards Dawson if he shows Hop no respect, sets the pace of the fight, punches in bunches, and puts some hurt on the old boy.
-
Dawson should beat Hopkins. I can't wait for this fight though. But I don't think Hopkins will be able to keep up with Dawson.
-
Re: B-Hop vs Dawson ---- Who Wins???

If dawson actually decides to throw punches and not sleep in there he's got the tools to bea him, but dawson just seems like a lazy fighter in there sometimes, leaving half his tank full. I mean shit hops gota get old sometime, and judgin by the kds in the pascal fight his chin seems to be crackin so fudge it dawson late stoppage
-
Re: B-Hop vs Dawson ---- Who Wins???
within the small amount of time we got to see them fight last time I would have to put my money on Dawson. He looked too fast and sharp for Hopkins. Hopkins seemed to struggle with him but will not count him out as he seems to improve as his fights go on and eventually works his opponents out.
-
In my opinion Dawson has one problem. Hes comfortable. If he can fight a 25 punch a round fight he will not step up to 30-35.
He's technically solid uses his beautiful jab and hooks off of it simply by pivoting rather than stepping around his opponent.
He should by all accounts win this but he won't.

Re: B-Hop vs Dawson ---- Who Wins???
Hopkins. I've tried but I just can't speak Dawson. If anything he has thus far been comprised of too many ifs...mights...and maybes. Hopkins has already set the tempo in this one and I dont care if he's collecting social security, I see him too deep and confident for a guy who has a pattern of rematches to get things clear and fires the trainer who tried to make him more assertive.
-
Re: B-Hop vs Dawson ---- Who Wins???
Love to see Hopkins walk away with another win over a younger lion but I think Dawson is victorious in this one
-
Re: B-Hop vs Dawson ---- Who Wins???
Fan of B-Hop, so hopefully he wins, but I think Dawson will win.
-
Re: B-Hop vs Dawson ---- Who Wins???
Dawson will stop him IMO. Hopkins is too old and past it now.
Dawson will stalk him down and Hopkins will try to spoil his way through.
-
Re: B-Hop vs Dawson ---- Who Wins???
I think Dawson wins this too especially on the evidence of their first fight. But I'm going to predict a Hopkins win. I think he does enough to get the decision -- it'll be a close fight and normally the emerging guy would get the hall-of-famer on his reume but this particular emerging guy can't draw flies, has zero box office value. The new head of HBO boxing likes Hopkins and he's a bigger draw in Vegas so if he manages to make it a close fight I'm guessing he'll get the decision.
EDIT: After watching Abril-Rios if Hopkins makes it to the end of the twelfth round still on his feet then he gets the decision.

Did you forget that Pascal already hurt and beat Dawson fairly comfortably?

As much as Hopkins will spoil, I really think Dawson will stop Hopkins. IMHO, Hopkins took a way out of the last fight because Dawson came with fight. Dawson wins by stoppage, and a ready and on his A-Game stops Jean Pascal too. Its time for Hopkins to bow out, but he'll have something to complain about.
-
Re: B-Hop vs Dawson ---- Who Wins???
I surprising stayed up for the last fight and was not happy with the outcome. I may not stay up for this fight this time. I will support B Hop but think he will lose. Dawson is all wrong for Hopkins, he is tall, young, fearless, hungry and legitimate fighter at the weight. The only thing going for Hopkins is that Chad is a southpaw but watching the first fight Dawson was easily avoiding the right hands. Dawson will win a points decision but hope I am wrong.

That's a joke, right? It was a close fight. I'm not saying Dawson won, but he would have if he hadn't taken off the entire middle of the fight. That inclination is his real problem, as someone else here pointed out. If he is truly amped for a fight and fights every round, he dominates the division -- including this version of Hopkins, and definitely including Pascal (and Cloud). I think he's hungry enough for this particular fight that he'll do so. Beyond that, who knows -- bad habits die hard.
Being a fan of slick boxers, I still hope Dawson can step up and fight at his full potential going forward. At his best, he is an elite level guy. I may be in the minority, but I thought the win over Adamek was actually quite enjoyable to watch.

Did he really take the middle of the fight off or can he just not fight for twelve rounds? Somehow I think he'll be taking rounds off against Hopkins too. I definitely see this one going to points after both guys have successful rounds but Hopkins getting the decision.

That is the question, true. But I tend to think it's more the former. It's true that he gets lazy too often. But the Pascal fight was particularly bad. He fought harder and more consistently against Johnson, Tarver, etc. And Johnson, at least, was way busier and put on way more pressure than Pascal -- so I don't think it's a stamina thing (plus, he was coming on strong at the end of the Pascal fight, once he realized he needed to -- clearly had plenty left in the tank). It's more like he gets bored/complacent, and figures he'll just win because he's more talented.

I don't think you are. His victory over Adamek may have been his best victory to date. I rate Adamek as having a p4p type of career in the sense that he's held titles in two divisions, one lineal title at cruiserweight, and beat a top ten Cris Arreola at heavyweight. It'll be even more impressive if Adamek beats Chambers in June. On that note, Dawson may be big enough to follow Adamek's footsteps and take a title at cruiserweight in a couple of years if he still is in the game.
Dawson should beat Bhop this time around. This is the first time I can recall that Hopkins has been completely quiet leading up to a fight. Odd, right? I haven't heard Bhop saying one disparaging thing about Dawson. Usually, it's, "I don't lose to a white boy," or the like, but in this camp, radio silence. One theory is that purosefully he's not trying to upset Dawson because he fears motivating Dawson might be the wrong tactic. He wants Dawson to come into the fight as unmotivated as possible in the hopes that Dawson takes rounds off. Dawson's worst enemy is his focus. Maybe a motivated Dawson is a more focused Dawson.

The ason Dawson struggled so badly with Pascal is that Pascal has speed and he was catching and hurting Dawson. Pscal is a decent puncher, he put Hopkins down a couple of times. Dawson was intimidated by Pascals speed and it made him hesitant to work, like Jones opponents used to be. He wasnt used to it after the old plodders hed faced. He got found out against Pascal and Calzaghe would have made him look like what Hopkins did to Pavlik.

I'm going with Dawson, although I have once again gone against my notion that I'd never pick against Hopkins again.;D

I can't take this seriously -- you just compared Jean Pascal to a prime Roy Jones.
Happy to take any bet you want to make if and when Dawson-Pascal II happens.

Dawson did look the better fighter by far, and I feel he's got Hopkins number but the old man will be back to his worst, as the song goes he will beg steal or borrow.;D

Dunno bout that one. For Dawsons sake that better be a flawed theory or Hopkins already dictating the tempo. If Dawson isn't motivated enough to show some fire in the gut and finally make a statement in career then he's not getting there. Physically Dawson has all the tools but I've never seen him 'pounce' and demand the issue. If he goes in trying to out Hopkins Hopkins shame on him. Dawsons boogie man is in his own head, mentally I still think these guys couldn't be further apart.

No, I compared Dawsons hesitancy to that of Jones old opponents. Also, Hopkins was landing the right hand fairly easily and Dawson was welcoming all the hugging. It was half way through the second that Dawson stumbles back and then launches in to a hug;D

Hopkins fighting style is extremely is ugly, clever may be exciting is not a word you use in a Hopkins fight
if he ever gets round to writing a book, I may buy it and use it as a door stop for the outside shit house.;D

You'll have to excuse me. I've not payed close attention to boxing in recent years. Maybe I should have watched more of his fights. The only fight of him I've seen is him fighting Dawson. All I hear about him is that he's a dirty fighter that tricks everybody. I simply had better fighters to look into.
In other words, I might just be wrong. But he looks like he's going to take any excuse he can to get out of a good fight. Kind of like Judah when he fought Khan.
-
Re: B-Hop vs Dawson ---- Who Wins???
I wouldnt go as far as call him a bitch. He knows how to bend the rules. He took on Pavlik when he was feared, he went to canada to fight Pascal and after getting dropped twice, he didnt just move on with the praise of being robbed, he went back and beat him good and proper. He then fought Dawson who barring the Pascal fightis supposedly the best thing the light heavy division has ever seen and hes now rematching him. I wouldnt be surprised to see Dawson spoil as much as Hopkins ever has when those rights start landing again;)

Hopkins round ten
He gets better fight by fight
CAN'T WAIT FOR RICKY BURNS TO CROSS THE WATER AND LAY OUT ALL THE YANKS

Re: B-Hop vs Dawson ---- Who Wins???
Some people like Hopkins. I don't. The guy is a dirty fighter, as is evident in the rematch with Dawson. He should have been disqualified after the fourth round.
I'm done watching Hopkins. When I watch him fight, he just makes me angry. Disgusting lowlife, in my opinion. Wheres the honor and pride? Good sportsmanship?
