At Atlantic City, N.J. (HBO): Bernard Hopkins vs. Chad Dawson, rematch, 12 rounds, for Hopkins' Ring/WBC light heavyweight title; Seth Mitchell vs. Chazz Witherspoon, 12 rounds, heavyweights.
Is anyone interested in the rematch?
I think this is Hopkins retirement fight. Dawson will beat him up as never seen before and Hopkins finally gets the message that his time has been and gone.
That's probably the way that it SHOULD go, but I have a feeling this one stinks again. Hopkins will do anything on earth not to lose these days, and Dawson is flat out lazy half the time. It's a really nasty combination imo, Hopkins may want to spoil more than Chad wants to fight. I see a crap fight with Hopkins losing the real exchanges but mauling all day without being warned(hope not) and Dawson more or less letting him and then losing his focus and getting stupid again. Wouldn't be AT ALL surprised to see this one end in some pathetic DQ again for either man. Who is the referee?
He will just do a tarver on him

Could be a dud but I have a feeling the rematch will be better than we expect.
Prediction: Dawson on points
They will be desperate to give the decision to Dawson like they were with Taylor vs Hopkins to try and make the younger guy the next star but Dawson wont look good in this fight.
The first fight didnt tell us much but it did show that Hopkins could make a fresh Dawson miss alot. He didnt really capitalize but the longer it went the more I think he would have made him pay had the injury not occured. Hopkins will fiddle his way through the first 6 then takes over IMO. He knows too many tricks and I wasnt impressed with Dawson in the Johnson or Pascal fights. I think Bernard has the better success in a long and ugly fight, teaching the younger stronger man a boxing lesson but the decision will go to Dawson
I'll be watching. I think Dawson wins but Hopkins gets the decision.
I am not staying up for this fight but hope Hopkins wins but expect Dawson to win a decision as he is fired up for this fight.

As much as i'd love to see Dawson simply destroy the old man, Hop has never come close to being knocked out in a fight, and maybe only knocked down once or twice, not sure. So a stoppage isn't likely.Quote:

I cannot get away from seeing Hopkins turn back the clock...again. I've seen no indication in Dawson that he is ready or willing to 'seek & destroy' and if he settles and plays chess with Hopkins I think he'll lose by a few. Would love to see another classic Hopkins performance, but I think Dawson wins it here. I hate picking against Hopkins. He proved me wrong against Trinidad, Tarver & Pascal x2. If Dawson's focused he wins this

It feels like this could finally be the night Hopkins bit off more than he can chew and will show his age.
BUT I thought that about the FIRST Pascal fight.
So I see this one going similar with Dawson coming on early and giving us Hopkins fans a scare, then Bernard lulling him into Bernard's type of fight and coming on strong during the middle and late rounds.
By the end Dawson will be tired and so will Bernard, but Dawson will be showing it more and look the loser.
Could go a lot like the 1st Taylor fight, in which case the judges may very well fuck Bernard again.
God I hope they don't.
HBO should have done a Face Off with these two. Probably would have rivaled the Pascal one.

Yeah I would like to see BHOP beat Dawson but I just got that bad feeling. The 1 thing I think might work in Hopkins favor is the temper of Dawson in which Hopkins seems to bring out in him. Maybe Hopkins by DQ win.Quote:

I believe Dawson will be bringing it the entire fight (for a change), knocking Hopkins down a time or 2 but not stopping him on his way to a pretty clearcut UD. Hop will whine and bitch, say he was robbed, and so will some of his fans, but that's to be expected. I bet if you asked Hopkins, he'd tell you that he's never lost a fight, except perhaps the one with RJJ.Quote:

Come on Dawson, give him something to really complain about. I used to like Hopkins, but in recent years he has been handpicking smaller men and resorted to outright cheating. Pascal was the obvious exception to the smaller man thing, but even he put Hopkins down twice.
This will be the end of old B-Hop.
