Hopkins Vs Cleverly, how would it go now?
I still think it would be a very hard fight for Cleverly who you could argue has not really fought a truly world class opponent yet.
However it was more clear than ever that Hopkins cant fight at any sort of pace these days and has to slow the fight down by holding through out the fight which he never seems to lose points for I got to add.
Cleverly's main asset is him amazing work rate which could give Hopkins problems if he was alowd to work.
Also is this fight more lightly to happen now after Hopkins loss as he has no title now and less options.

Re: Hopkins Vs Cleverly, how would it go now?
I think there's a good chance this fight happens
I feel Hopkins may still be a bit too crafty for Cleverly, but like you say Cleverly's work rate would be the key

Re: Hopkins Vs Cleverly, how would it go now?
It aslready been mentioned by the 2 posters above...the workrate of Cleverly should win him the fight although im still not convinced that he will.
Cleverly has not been tested at world level yet. I dont think his chin is the best either , Hopkins aint a big puncher but it couldnt be ruled out that Hopkins could win by KO.
i hope it happens as it would be a big event here in the UK

I think Clev has a very good chin.
Bellew hit him clean a number of times and it did not faze him.Its how easy it is to hit him is the problem he might have.

It's too risky for cleverly to take a fight like this IMO. I feel that b hop is still a threat and after him losing at the weekend I think he's lost a bit of his merit. I think cleverly should try and get involved with other top rated
Fighters and unify the division. I would love to see him against cloud or Pascal.
Don't get me wrong I wouldn't mind him fighting b hop but he's such a crafty fighter and he might be a bit too experienced for cleverly.

Re: Hopkins Vs Cleverly, how would it go now?
i havent seen the second hopkins dawson fight but prior to that i would have said hopkins
his spoiling tactics make his fights extremely boring but it works
id like to see boxing start to punish fighters like hopkins for these sorts of tactics

I think pascal would ruin clev, too hard to time.
Cloud gets up close and fucks people up, look how he fought a game and strong glen Johnson!!
I think Hopkins would slow celebs pace down like he did Calzaghe
-
Re: Hopkins Vs Cleverly, how would it go now?
Hopkins would school Cleverly and make him look like another crap fighter. Clev does not deserve this fight. He needs to at least take on someone in the lower top ten first.

Re: Hopkins Vs Cleverly, how would it go now?
I think Hopkins would pick him apart. Workrate alone won't beat Hopkins and it's far from the reason Dawson won so handily. Cleverly would get sliced and diced imo.
-
Re: Hopkins Vs Cleverly, how would it go now?
I think Cleverly obvious has more chance winning against Hopkins than he has fighting Dawson. I do think Hopkins in experienced enough to beat Cleverly though but it could go either way in a tight decision. Hopkins has a way of making fighters fight his pace and even Pascal who throws a lot of punches was fighting at a pace that suited Bernard. I do not think Warren will put the money up now that Hopkins lost, so do not think the fight will be made.

Re: Hopkins Vs Cleverly, how would it go now?
I was thinking about this only the other day, I think Clev struggles.
Hopkins is so tough to fight, not that he has more skills, but he is crafty and one of those fighters no one wants to fight as they know they will be getting headbutts and elbows all night.
On home turf, clev wins a wide UD.
Away from home, it could be tough.
I don't see this fight happening anyway, Clev wants to fight the guy with a belt whose name I have no chance of writing.

Re: Hopkins Vs Cleverly, how would it go now?
There comes a time when every fighter get's old.
Hopkins can't keep on repelling these younger bigger hitting fighters.
Eventually he will break. I think Cleverly will do it.....should they meet
-
Re: Hopkins Vs Cleverly, how would it go now?
seeing how Cleverly is still a 2nd tier fighter, Hopkins will outbox him and beat him by a lopsided UD
-
Re: Hopkins Vs Cleverly, how would it go now?
It's great to pick against Hopkins given his finally losing and all, but at least consider something else when making a prediction. Cleverly is not a top tier fighter, he doesn't have the skills or mentality to beat Hopkins and it wouldn't even be close imo. Given the way people seem to disagree we might have Hopkins next fight in the makings here.

Re: Hopkins Vs Cleverly, how would it go now?
Clev's biggest problem is Clev. He seems to leave the tool box in the dressing room and then goes out to the ring walk. He makes its hard on himself when no reason exists to do so. Sure he has more chin then a Chinese phone-book right now but down the road after having the brain knocked around he may find his chin to be pretty regular. You could see glimpses of the use of all of his attributes in the Murat fight but he got nailed over and over. I think he's one of these guys that wants to please to much. Hop feeds on that. As far as the activity level goes, Hop also has a history of shutting people down. People myself included have been saying the man is going to grow old overnight and he continues to prove all wrong.
Love him or hate him, he is the Archie Moore of our time.

Re: Hopkins Vs Cleverly, how would it go now?
Hopkins would not get away with his dirty fighting style over here, I could see him getting thrown out
the dirty twat see the look on his face then.
Speed beats Hopkins I would love Clevery to just beat the shit out of him.;D

Re: Hopkins Vs Cleverly, how would it go now?
Stylistically the Dawson fight was bad for B-Hop. If we see the same Hopkins as we did a week ago, he schools Cleverly . 117-111

School in dirty fighting may be, take Hopkins dirty tactics and you don't have a lot remember he gets away with a lot, head-buts hitting blind side of the ref, push down back of the head, jumping on opponents back, claiming fouls rolling around on the floor.
People do seem to underestermate Cleverly he is a lot better boxer than you think, Don't be blinded by
Hopkins dirty style if there was any justice he would have been thrown out of the ring on many occasions
he rides his luck, but he's like a dried on skid mark he's hard to get rid of.;)

Re: Hopkins Vs Cleverly, how would it go now?
why is Cleverly's team so intent on facing a top 5 guy (Dawson, BHOP, Cloud, Pascal), when Cleverly hasn't ever faced a good top 10 guy???

Re: Hopkins Vs Cleverly, how would it go now?
This is from the green turtle pool in his backyard to the Olympic swimming pool for Cleverly. Way to deep regardless of age. He may try to swarm like a Calzaghe but he's no Calzaghe, for whatever that's worth. Too much too soon, Hopkins isn't some dead man walking ready for the scrap heap of stepping stones yet.
