Lamont Peterson positive for Taking drugs? Khan fight off????

Reading boxingscene and it's saying he has been positive for taking synthetic testosterone. This is so bad, can't believe after his win that this has happened. He has ruined a great possible rematch here. This is so bad for boxing.

And to think that Peterson’s team is the one that pushed for extra testing. Fucking geniuses.

Damn now we won't here the end off Khan's constant bitching again. But that is bad for the sport, I would like to hear what Peterson has to say about this.

If so, then he is a muppet. Disappointing.

This shit is so rife in boxing and other combat sports it doesn't surprise me. It makes me laugh when people try to determine that someone isnt using because "you can tell from how he looks he's not on drugs" which is the usual excuse about the Pac and roids situation - Everybody is and should be a suspect. This proves it.

The thing is these top athletes have nutritionists etc and arepumping themselves full of supplements/vitamins and stuff that I'm sure it's easy that they could end up taking something illegal by lack of knowledge, I doubt Peterson is sticking needles in him like in Kickboxer 2 ;D.

Whatever though responsibility lies with the fighter it's is body and his career.

Thing is would he have knowingly took something while pushing for the drug testing? It doesn't make sense. Fucking idiot if he has knowingly cheated.

He could have messed up a huge payday and tarnished his reputation in a short space of time here.

There's always the Breidis Prescott rematch, im still not convinced Amir Khan wins the rematch. People can say Prescott is crap and ETC. But he's not that bad he was ahead vs Mike Alvarado at the time of the stoppage, and he beat Richard Abril legitmately.

Infact i think Prescott KO's him again.

I did feel the same as Armyash, I almost felt sorry for Peterson as I thought he had been eating all of these nutrition suplements ad then without knowing, took something he shouldn't have. A bit like Toure taking his wifes slimming pills in English football last year.

It says that the results came back in March! Why has it taken this long for anyone to know?

The drug testing people seemed on Lamonts side in the quotes "... He has not tested positive before or after that reading and he is commended for taking the tests and wanting to play fair"

I think the fight still happens and is covered in controversy again. If it was going to have been called off, they would have done it 2 months ago when they had the positive test result.

Khan must be very annoyed getting ready to get his titles back and this happens. Khan is in a state of limbo. Do they strip Peterson? Does Khan still fight him? What happens?

Very disappointing from Peterson, and with his feel-good story too. He's one guy I probably wouldn't have suspected. Hopefully, this serves to push forward new rules regarding drug-testing for boxing.

It looks like Peterson admitted to taking a testasterone pellet prior to the first Khan fight, in which case that loss should be voided.

Can someone answer me a question? They had VADA testing for this fight. If they had stuck with the normal, Nevada state testing, would they have caught this?

And if he took it before the first fight like he is saying, how didn't they pick it up before the last fight?

He's had anabolic-steroid-releasing implants ("pellets") since before the first fight. Sure they can take them out and he might not have abnormally high T-levels on fight-night, but he's had the advantage of them during training, which is a much bigger deal.

I'm very curious to see what the Peterson camp's explanation is. The two things that make no sense to me are:

1. If you have actual steroid implants, why would you agree to hardcore olympic-style testing (and not remove them and flush your system immediately)?

2. Why come out and admit that you had them already at the time of the first fight? (I mean, the honesty is good, I'm just wondering why they would volunteer this -- I don't think it's just because they're good people.)

reason no one was notified was because of confidentiality. The deals with VADA are signed with the fighters-not HBO or the promoters.

Peterson's A sample turned up positive. His team didn't notify GB(which they could have). They asked for the backup same, sample B, to be tested and it came back positive as well.

Yup, because Peterson has admitted to using the same banned substance prior to the 1st fight with Khan last year. So he cheated to win the first fight, and continued using it to get ready for the rematch.

So 'no contest', Amir gets his titles back and no fight May 19th, Peterson can kiss his career goodbye.

Can't really believe it of Peterson, this tarnishes him now

Based on the fact that he was pushing for the tests. I'm not saying no chance in hell he's guilty you would have to be a fucking moron to push for the tests knowing you will get caught.

He may have pushed for the tests assuming he wouldn't get caught because he hasn't before, like so many others. That sounds more on point to me. Have they confirmed that it was some form of testosterone he was taking as well? There is a big gray area in all sports with that kind of thing, along with growth hormones etc.

I'll never stick up for a cheater. Mistakes happen in life but if he has intentionally cheated then fuck him. Lives can be lost in the ring.

Does anybody know if the fight is off and Khan would still fight? Or is the whole card off?

You can't mistakenly take test. It's either a needle or a rub on. The rub is useless for athletes. Not enough testosterone. Soo all these excuses athletes give is total bullshit. They know wtf they are doing. Peterson thought he wouldn't get caught. End of story. Now he is getting stripped as he should.
