looks true - shocking and terrible
Just read this very sad news. Was looking forward to him fighting alvarez. He has a much harder fight now and i hope he comes through.
Horrible to hear.
Apologies for re-posting didn't see your thread.
Best wishes to Williams.
I literally feel sick. My heart goes out to Paul. Fucking motorbikes!!
Terrible news to the boxing world today.. I hope he makes a full recovery.
Wow. Hope they find otherwise during surgery and he regains 100%. This really sucks.
Fuck...
wow sad news, hopefully he can recover and not loose movement completely waist down if nothing else
Such a shame, going through this myself (my dad) I hope he and his family can remain strong.
Everything changes and for it to happen to a very young man and one who makes a living from being an athlete makes in particularly tragic.
Hopefully his conditioning and determination will help him to recover as fully as possible. I am sure the medical staff are doing the best they can for him and he will be grateful for every small victory.
Good luck to him on his journey to recovery.
Gutted
Wow what a terrible day in boxing news. Terrible, terrible news.
Wow, I'm in shock. I was just really excited to see he was going to fight canelo, and just seen this. Hopefully he heals and is able to live a full life.
Paul will get through this. Hes a warrior..and still the best in the divison.
WTF, this is awful! Such sad news
This is crap, hope he can pull through because he is apparently one of the nice guys of boxing.
Dam! Tapia, Williams and Thangthong all in a week.
Jesus Christ this is bullshit. Terrible news, Williams is a warrior and we can only pray that he can make a Vinny Paz type of comeback.
Realistically though his injuries look to be different and more severe than Pazienza's were.
I just hope and pray Williams can walk again forget about boxing.
Yeah this is tragic as hell, and there is no way he will ever box again. That he will gain back even some use of his legs is the best care scenario here, if it was a spinal injury. I doubt there has ever been an athlete in any sport who has made a comeback from major paralysis like this, for a fighter, forget it:(
I'm mutha fucking speechless. How sad.....wow
I'm gutted for the guy. Williams is one of my favourite fighters. I can't believe his career is over just like that. Bloody reckless drivers are one of my pet peeves and to think his career has been robbed because of another idiot not paying attention to their killing machine. It makes me fume.
I just hope Williams can recover as well as can be and that the person responsible for this pays the penalty.
While this is sad that he is paralyzed :( Reading that report, it would have been a lot worse if he had hit that vehicle head on. So him avoiding it all together may have paralyzed him and left him a chance for recovery no matter how bleak, but hitting that vehicle head on would have been much worse :(
So I am very sad he is paralyzed but I am very relieved that he avoided what would have been the WORST outcome
Gotta feel for him on this one. I think he certainly would have been Canelo's biggest test to date. Huge shame that this has happened to him.
I know this is in bad taste; but imagine if there were wheelchair boxing. Who on earth could beat Paul Williams with his reach and output?
This is just fucking terrible. It could have been a lot worse, but goddamn... Wish him all the best, he gave us some great fights.
Bad week for boxing first Tapia now Williams both family's must be going through hell, very sad for
all involved.
Truly gutted for Williams. Cant believe it. Been one of my favourite fighters since I got into boxing, same age as me. So sad. He's a serious fighter with a serious smile so hopefully those two things will stand him in very good stead for the big fight he has ahead.
Really sad news for boxing, if I was a pro and this happened to me I don't think I would ever get over it. Will show how much of a good character Williams is where he takes his life from here. Hope the boxing world makes place for him, it's so bad when stuff like this happens.
Check this quote out - "Williams said if he wasn't going to be boxing, he's going to be a stand-up comedian." ;D

What an attitude. Massive respect to him.
This is heartbreaking, motorcycle accidents have taken some great fighters from us...hopefully Paul can live a normal life after this.
According to reports Williams' injuries to his spine are permanent, but it's almost standard procedure by doctors to tell someone who's had a severe spinal injury that they may never walk again. While it's safe to say Williams won't ever be able to box professionally again, who knows about the walking part, surgery and personal determination can do wonders.
Yeah, he's lucky to be alive. I ride... This sounds like the dreaded left turn scenario. A car turns left across your path and doesn't see you (most motorists look for cars not bikes) He probably avoided t-boning it by swerving around it, locked up the front brake and high sided. Most of the time hitting the car will still send you over and kill you. I choose to look at it as a sign. Maybe Paul had done all he could in the ring and he needed to use his brain and hands for something of greater importance. Time will tell. Get well, champ...
Dreadful news, very saddening to hear. Feel for him and his family.
Really sad to hear. Remember Gary Mason was killed on a motorbike too.
More bad news for Boxing, this is terrible news, hope paul can
recover to have a good life.
Reading the article things sound a little less bleak than they did before when it sounded like the doctors were certain he would never walk again, now it sounds like there may be a glimmer of hope. Hopefully he regains at least some lower body movement so he is not tied to a chair...
