Ask a Pro: Richard "The Inferno" Towers

Time for the next pro, another heavyweight, this time, the current European Champion.

Richard Towers has kindly agreed to answer questions for us, not only is he a current champion, he is undefeated and has a fantastic back story in another life before boxing. He is training out of the Ingle gym in Sheffield.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of being such a big heavyweight?

Is your style inspired by any other fighters?

Is professional boxing a tougher sport mentally or physically for you?

What are some goals you have for yourself in boxing? Where do you see yourself a year from now, 2 years from now, etc?

What 1 person dead or alive (could be anyone Historical figure, celebrity, old math teacher, anyone)would you love to give a good solid punch in the face?

Is there anything about professional boxing that a person on the outside looking in can never truly understand unless they go through it themselves? People tend to think they have all the answers or they can find the answers on the internet, but what about the wisdom that is discovered only by personal experience.

1) What is the story behind you hurting Tyson Fury in sparring and would you prefer to fight him now or wait till you guys have built it up into a mega domestic battle.... also how would you see a fight between you and Tyson fury going?

2) are you after Audley Harrison at the minute and have you sparred with him?

Richard, is towers your real name?

also do you think a fighters nickname/alias(/whatever you want to call it) can contribute to his success as a fighter?

Other than your self, how do you rate the current British Heavyweights?

Will you be watching the Haye - Chisora fight?

Are you a fan of any other current or past boxers? And if so are you ever emotionally involved enough in rooting for them to get you out of your seat?

Thanks for agreeing to answer questions in the best boxing forum on the net.

There are so many stories of how boxing has helped people to turn their lives around, as somebody who has been through that do you think that our best boxing trainers and clubs should have more formal links with schools and colleges etc?

Have you ever fought anyone as tall as you are, and if/when it does happen how do you adapt to not being punching down at your opponent?

When in training for a fight (1) Is there a part of the training that you truly relish and (2) Is there an aspect to the Ingle gym that you truly dread being part of your programme??

I've sent off the questions from here up, there is quite a lot of them, so not sure how long it will take him to respond.

Some cracking questions though.

He's probably sitting there panicking about all the sentences he's going to have to write. Seriously though after reading his life story good luck to him. I'd love to see him do something with his career.

I did message him to see if he had forgotten. He hadn't, just said he'd been busy and would get to it soon. Seems a genuine guy.

Has any fighter answered anything since the English heavyweight that got banned?

Towers Facebook got hacked, all our questions were via there.

Messaged him again yesterday to make sure he is still up for it and with the question again.

Yeah Towers started blanking me and after I sent him some mild abuse for ignoring me and making me look a fool, I'm now banned from him on Facebook on Twitter so no way of making contact.

So to sum up, I hope Towers gets fucking battered in his next fight!

Really should try and get another fighter on here, was a great idea, just need some fighters humble enough to speak to us peasants.

You would think even some C rated fighters would answer some questiuons on here, even if it is to plug their twitter/facebook crap.

I'm sure they would, just need a route to ask them! On Twitter you just get ignored as they get loads of people writing to them.

Need to find someone famous enough to be worth getting on, but not too popular they are inundated with requests or feel they are above wankers like us.
