Danny Garcia vs. Amir Khan Saturday night fight thread
:action: For Garcia's WBC junior welterweight title (he won in the fight with Erik Morales) and Lamont Peterson's vacated WBA junior welterweight title, so the winner gets 2 straps. This should be a crackin' fight, a lot at stake for both pugs.
July 14
At Las Vegas (HBO): Danny Garcia vs. Amir Khan, 12 rounds, for Garcia's WBC and vacant WBA junior welterweight title; Fernando Guerrero vs. Jose Medina, 10 rounds, super middleweights..
Khan should win this, I believe he's a better boxer then Garcia, has more power, and more Championship experience. I'll say Khan stops Danny in the 5th or 6th round, Freddie should have Khan ready.

Could be Inuit, i'm thinking Khan will be too much for Garcia, so we shall see.

Re: Danny Garcia vs. Amir Khan on HBO Saturday night
Garcia deserves credit for his win against Morales. However, Khan has too many physical advantages over Garcia to lose this one.
-
Re: Danny Garcia vs. Amir Khan on HBO Saturday night
Khan cant lose this fight. Easy nights work.

Re: Danny Garcia vs. Amir Khan on HBO Saturday night
I predict a wide UD for Khan. Somewhere between 10-2 and 8-4. Khan is better technically and much, much faster. I think Garcia is pretty ordinary.
I don't think of Khan as really having any KO power against decent-to-tough fighters though (Garcia at least has a better chin/will than Zab), so I do see it going 12.

I don't know, Khan has decent power, enough to KO Garcia, I believe Khan stops him in within 6 rounds. Garcia's best win was against Morales who was beyond shot, i'm unimpressed with this dude, and his father is an idiot.

Re: Danny Garcia vs. Amir Khan on HBO Saturday night
I like Khan, he does what a boxer is suppose to do and that is to fight everyone and anyone. He has good pop and throws nice crisp punches. However he leans forward too much, his punch accuracy leaves something to be desired, specially against fighters who stand right in front of him, and I think his biggest sin is that he always always loses balance when he throws his right hand. Look at his fights and you'll see his chin slowly but surely creeps forward and forward the more he throws that punch. It's just waiting for an uppercut.
But then again no fighter is perfect but I do wish he would work on his balance considering he has great tools, it would be a shame to see him lose a fight due to a vicious uppercut.
I also predict that Khan will win this one.

Re: Danny Garcia vs. Amir Khan on HBO Saturday night
Agreed Garcia’s dad is an idiot but that should not be held against Garcia. He cannot help who his father was. Khan will out box Garcia and wins a comprehensive decision if not a late round stoppage.
-
Re: Danny Garcia vs. Amir Khan on HBO Saturday night
This guy will make Khan look like Sugar Ray Leonard. Admittedly I'm only going on the Morales fight but I couldn't believe how bad he was. If Morales had shown up in shape he would have won.

Eh, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. This should be a good fight Saturday, like I said in the OP, there's a lot a stake.

After the Morales fight, Garcia was acting like he'd beaten Manny Pacquiao and not a beyond shot version of Morales, it was sickening.

Re: Danny Garcia vs. Amir Khan Saturday night fight thread
The action starts Saturday night on HBO @10:00 PM ET or about 2:00 AM in the UK, for some of you Brit night owls. :)
July 14
At Las Vegas (HBO): Danny Garcia vs. Amir Khan, 12 rounds, for Garcia's WBC and vacant WBA junior welterweight title; Fernando Guerrero vs. Jose Medina, 10 rounds, super middleweights..
I'm looking forward to this fight, i'm not a Khan fan, but he got a raw deal against "Cheater" Peterson, plus I don't care much for Garcia. So I hope Khan takes care of business.

Re: Danny Garcia vs. Amir Khan Saturday night fight thread
The challenge on a personal level will be whether or not I choose to stay up, get up in the middle of the night or just wait for the re-runs in the morning.
Let's stick this one up too.

Re: Danny Garcia vs. Amir Khan Saturday night fight thread
I see Khans speed being way too much and the fight ending around about the 7th.
-
What time does the fight start In the UK? I know the programme starts at 2am. I'm looking forward to tonight, it should be a great fight.

Great article here on Khan.

Re: Danny Garcia vs. Amir Khan Saturday night fight thread
Khan to stop Garcia on cuts in rd 8 or 9.
-
Re: Danny Garcia vs. Amir Khan Saturday night fight thread
The more I ponder it, the more I lean toward Khan stopping Garcia tonight. Whether it's cuts like @RobertoDuranlegend said, or just bombs him out sometime in the middle-late rounds, I believe it'll happen at some point.

5 Live are advertising their commentary starting around 4am, so I'd say 4.15-30 for the first bell.

That's the bollocky thing about fights happening in America. I'm gonna record it or watch the repeat at a less ungodly hour.

The "live" card tonight is advertized to begin @11:00-12:30 PM ET, which means it starts after 3:00 AM in the UK no? (4 hours later) I'm thinking that the only fight that HBO will air (because of the late hour and time frame) will be Khan vs. Garcia, 15 or 20 minutes after 11:00 PM ET or 3:00 AM in the UK. So if my calculations are correct about fight time in the UK, the fight could be over by 4:00 AM.

Re: Danny Garcia vs. Amir Khan Saturday night fight thread
Just watching the preview on Boxing Guru UK...Freddie left to train Mickey Rourke, but, before that, he was right down the road from LA, at a gym in La Habra. That has been a pretty solid gym for some time, producing some decent pro. Among them, if memory serves, were Rocky Garcia and Joe Ruelas.
Back in the day, Roach used to work with whoever walked through the door. I know a couple convicts from that area that he worked with.
-
I'm a British fan. It's 2.40 in the morning and the fight won't start until 4 am for me. I personally like khan as a good boxer but I know a lot of people that want him to lose.
He is too cocky and might underestimate Garcia.
Think it will be a good fight

Re: Danny Garcia vs. Amir Khan Saturday night fight thread
Khan brings his feet together and jumps in with his lead right. Garcia slaps with his hook.
-
Re: Danny Garcia vs. Amir Khan Saturday night fight thread
I bet the fight starts at 5am.

It starts at 11:00 PM ET in the States or in about 1 hour Master, what time is it there in 1 hour? 4am? that would be a 5 hour time difference.

Don't worry. I'll be up. It will start at 4 am or soon after. I'm sure it will be worth it.

K, so a 5 hour difference between EST here in the States and time in the UK, like I said earlier in the thread, I doubt that there will be any undercard fight, so Khan vs Garcia should start in about an hour or 4:15 your time.
cheers, good to see you're staying up for it.

That's the spirit! just 30 more minutes, the undercard fight is not a championship fight, so they won't show it, just Khan vs Garcia.

Shit....
I would've wanted to see some of the undercard, but as soon as I saw the televised start time of 11:00 pm, I figured they would only show the main event. I hope it's a good fight.

HBO B.A.D. and HBO PPV usually shows an undercard, this is HBO WCB (World Class Boxing which only shows Championship fights, which makes me think they will only show Khan vs. Garcia.
Time for a St Pauli Girl, the fight starts in about 20 minutes.

All the big fights are in the states. Would you all stay until 5am to watch it?

FYI, I tried sending you another PM just now and it said your PM's were full, and you need to delete some to make room for new PMs.
