I'm semi looking forward to Dawson/Ward
It may not be full of drama but it will be a nice fight to watch from a purely pugilistic standpoint. It may be a much better contest then most expect. Not sure how Dawsons stamina will hold out since he's been at 175 for the past 7 years but I do believe we are in for a boxing match. Ward will probably switch hit a lot in this fight I suspect as he did with Kessler. Some people are board stiff unless a knockout is likely or a fighter essentially dominating another. I am not one of these fans and appreciate a good technical boxing match the few times they actually happen.
No dog in the fight but Ward on points. Most likely a UD. I see its essentially in his home town again.
Re: I'm semi looking forward to Dawson/Ward
I'm looking forward to it as well, it should be a real chess match and the best tactical clash there has been in a long while imo. I'm thinking the weight might really affect Dawsons already iffy stamina, and if he weren't so damn lazy at times I'd have it a complete toss up. I'm picking Ward to take this just based on workrate and tenacity, because really those are his only clear advantages imo. Dawson is a little bigger, and definetly has an edge in speed as well as a better jab. It would be great if Dawson won, as he'd match up very well with Froch, Kessler or Dirrell assuming he plans to stay at 168 afterwards. I'd think he would beat all 3 assuming the weight still suits him, but this fight will tell for sure.
Re: I'm semi looking forward to Dawson/Ward
I smell some textbook snoozer. Neeext.....!!
Re: I'm semi looking forward to Dawson/Ward
There's probably a UFC card on or something:confused::rolleyes:
Re: I'm semi looking forward to Dawson/Ward
A semi is the most excitement this fight could generate;D
Re: I'm semi looking forward to Dawson/Ward
I received my ringside tickets last week. I am definitely looking forward to this one -- I've been saying this was the most competitive opponent for Ward since halfway through the Super Six.
Re: I'm semi looking forward to Dawson/Ward
dawson looks anemic at his proper fighting weight. i don't expect much from him when he comes in drained.
plus his title isn't on the line so he has less incentive to dig deep. he isn't very inspiring even when his own title is up for grabs.
i expect the worst "big" fight of the year. hope i'm wrong cause i'll be watching.
Re: I'm semi looking forward to Dawson/Ward
You might be semi looking but I'm ecstatic. It will be a great technical fight though I'm sure in terms of volume of punches it wouldn't break any records.
Re: I'm semi looking forward to Dawson/Ward
But the question is, does it give you a semi?
Re: I'm semi looking forward to Dawson/Ward
It's got Bradley-Alexander written all over it, right down to HBO getting excited over it. It's even going to be PPV apparently. HBO think they're going to build a new star. Neither guy has any charisma or a particularly exciting fighting style nor does either guy ever knock people out on a regular basis. It looks like the new head of HBO boxing is trying to outdumb the previous one.
(Having said that it'll now probably be FOTY with a tenth rounf one-punch KO.) :)

Hopefully Ward being the one getting KTFO. I still haven't forgiven him for schooling Froch
Re: I'm semi looking forward to Dawson/Ward
I don't see Dawson KOing anyone out there. I like Ward and I understand why that SoG thing would rub a lot of people the wrong way as it did me but at the end of the day he's seems to be a fun lax guy who is masterful technician in the ring.
Re: I'm semi looking forward to Dawson/Ward
I am really looking forward to this fight and hope it is on over here on Box Nation. Ward is a quality fighter and is so good he leaves Bute/Kessler/Froch to fight amongst themselves just to challenge him. Hope he comprehensively beats Dawson who needs to beat top fighters to earn the big money and acclaim that he desires so much.
Re: I'm semi looking forward to Dawson/Ward
A stinker of a fight. Dawson simply won't do enough. 168 is a bad idea.
Re: I'm semi looking forward to Dawson/Ward
Anyone really believe Dawson is going to win, or dominate ?
I'd be very surprised at anything except a 116-112 or more victory for Ward.
Its top level boxing between two very good fighters so I'll be watching, but due to their track records I side with the majority in expecting a rather boring affair in terms of action.
However in terms of high stakes and drama it will be exciting much the way Bernard Hopkins fights have been exciting these last few years for their merit more so than their actual fighting.

I'm not to thrilled about this fight Inuit, but I probably watch it just because It's boxing and I have HBO. Why is Dawson giving up all his advantages, fighting Ward @ 168 in his nest in Oakland? I predict that Ward wins an ugly stinker, that's not worth watching, at least these 2 boring fucks had the wisdom to not put this shit on PPV.
The undercard fight will be the one to watch = Antonio DeMarco vs. John Molina, 12 rounds, for DeMarco's WBC lightweight title.

Good post.
I hear you Mars and kinda torn on this also. I also do not like what had to be muscle shedding Dawson most certainly did. I'm not a catch weight fan but they could have done something here and left the trinkets off the table. This reminds me a bit of Leonard/Lalonde in reverse lol.
Having said that, a boxing match might break out and in this world of instant gratification I enjoy those one in awhile. I'm eager to see what Dawson looks like at the weigh in. If I'm him I'm coming in heavy. Screw the tin. It's not like I'm going to defend the dam thing.

What i'd really to see is Chad knocking Ward out, or at least kicking his ass. I'm not a fan of Dawson, but I can't stand watching Ward, part of it has to do with that S.O.G. bullshit. Chances are i'll watch a few rounds of the fight, and if it looks like a stinker in the works, i'll turn it off and watch a movie. If somebody else wants to do the fight thread for this fight on Sept. 8th, please feel free to have at it. :-X

Re: I'm semi looking forward to Dawson/Ward
Dawson will be outboxed and he will not change his style like normal. Dawson is a good boxer but he has no ability to adapt.

No, it's not a PPV, if it was I wouldn't even bother finding a stream.
