If I were Escobedo I would walk away unless they seriously made it worth his while. He was a prohibitive underdog to begin with, but a Broner who doesn't even have to drain weight? It could be ugly.
This is what I've gathered in the last ten minutes. Escobedo will receive a purse of over 400,000 dollars and Broner cannot weigh over 148 lbs. come fight time. Either way, Broner has refused to acknowledged any wrongdoing. I feel like a dupe for ever supporting this guy. Total douche bag.

Broner, by KO. He's cocky, loud mouthed, rude and generally acts like an asshole but is good. He shouldn't be allowed to fight for a couple of years. I'm really disappointed in HBO, they don't care about boxing. If they cared about boxing, they would not allow this young man to get away with this behavior. What will he do next? He has disrespected boxing, boxing fans, HBO, the promoters, the sanctioning body and his opponent.
Let him go become a rapper, boxing can get along without him just fine!

Broner was a big-time favorite to begin with. Now, he will go into this fight with a 15-pound weight advantage. Seriously, Escobedo may get injured in this one.
Escobedo shoulda stuck to his guns and walked away from this...except he probably wouldn't be on hbo again where as they would be lickin broners ass to put him back on in 5 months...and I don't even get it, not like broner has a huge following, he's decently talented but hasn't done shit yet....don't think hell turn out as great as he thinks either. This smells alot like Gamboa vs Solis. Guy comes down in weight, house fav blows weight and comes in big heavy. Solis literally eating full deep dish pizzas day of fight to come up (where he was in first place).

RJJ just said it was a smart strategy for Broner to blow weight since he never wanted to stay at 130 in the first place.
The only reason I'm watching this shit at all, is to see if Escobedo wins.
What I'm taking away from this fight is that Escobedo is having a promising entry to the junior lightweight division.
