Lennox: I’d have stopped Haye in two rounds
World Boxing News: Lennox: I’d have stopped Haye in two rounds
I was reading this, thinking imagine if they did fight, imagine if they could still fight...I reckon Lewis might still have enough in the bag ;D

first time Lewis connected with his jab Haye would get the fear.
I say one round

Re: Lennox: I’d have stopped Haye in two rounds
i actually disagree - as much as i rate lennox i think people underrate haye way to much! He is an undisputed cruiserweight champion, dominating mormeck and enzo (admittedly he seemed to struggle slightly against fragomini but hey people have bad fights/off nights whatever the reason was) - He then fought two giants at heavyweight and got clipped properly about once (wlad in the middle rounds caught him perfectly) and to be fair - Haye took the shot! He stopped ruiz, barret and Bonin, Harrison and chisora in 7,6,1, 3 and 5 - all relatively early with no problems as you would expect.
Yes he didnt perform particulary well against klitscho but in a second fight i would imagine he would have fought very differently - same if he fought lewis! Id say alot closer than many people think! I also think he has the power to do what mccall and rahman did to lewis while lets not forget haye took a flush shot from wlad not too many problems!
Not saying haye would win but was i to bet i wouldnt be sure which way to go!
-
Lewis is a lot more languid in his technical boxing than Wladimir so maybe Haye could stun Lewis off that lazy jab.
Bit like the Briggs fight. Sounds like fun!!

No we can't hope for that. He would get massacred now. He's living out retirement in comfort and I'm happy for him.

Re: Lennox: I’d have stopped Haye in two rounds
Don't agree at all, lewis never fought fast/slick fighters like haye...haye would employ the same tactics as he did with wlad...run!! Difference is wlad is quicker than lewis...

Re: Lennox: I’d have stopped Haye in two rounds
What would you expect Lennox to say? I would of course love to hear Haye's opinion since he thinks so highly of himself. Lennox would give Haye more chances to hit him than Wladimir did but Lennox would also take more advantage over the clinches as well and I believe he would hook his left hand behind Haye's head and shoot a few uppercuts to Haye's jaw as he did vs Michael Grant.

Haye is full of respect for Lennox and has basically said he doesn't think he'd have a chance basically! I agree with him.

It's out of respect , he wouldn't say anything else would he! Like none of i.e ali's disciples would say they would beat him, yet imo many would.
And everything haye say's has an agenda to it anyway....of course he's not going to say he disagrees with lennox, that would make the klitschkos look good! Saying someone wlad dominated would beat lewis wouldn't sit well with even haye himself! It doesn't anyway matter because wlad dominated mercer, jackson and rahman easier than lewis...and tua, briggs, grant, holy, golota, mcall etc were all beaten by wlads opponents too....
I can't see wladimir saying he would KO schmelling, but we all know he would. Lewis never fought quick agile fighters like byrd and haye so its hard to tell how we would handle them. A 38 yr old holy gave him fits second time round...
Shit i just started the 10 page debate lol

Ray Mercer and Shannon Briggs were years past there prime when Klitschko fought them.

Re: Lennox: I’d have stopped Haye in two rounds
Scenario 1:
- Lewis comes in lazy, underestimating Haye.
- Haye lands a (yes.... I'll say it) "haymaker" and drops Lewis.
- Lewis gets up, but ref stops the fight. It's Rahman, McCall all over again.
- In a rematch... Lewis murders Haye.
Scenario 2:
- Haye pulls a "Haye vs Klitschko", and avoids engaging Lewis at all costs.
- Lewis wins a comfortable UD.
- No rematch is required.
Pick your poison.

Wlad never fought briggs! He beat mcline and ibragimov who both domintaed briggs, both put him down too!.
Jameel McCline beat Shannon Briggs in 2002 99-90/99-90/ 99-90
Shannon Briggs lost to Sultan Ibragimov in 2007 111-117/109-119/113-115
Briggs was never that good, he got a gift draw vs bummy botha, arguably did not do enough vs a fat foreman, gave a good account vs lewis early. He beat mercer 3 years after wlad had finished with him, he was lucky to stop Siarhei Liakhovich after being outboxed for 11 rounds (sergei was coming off that brutal ATG fight with brewster, which probably factored into his loss to briggs)
So what if mercer was older, thats not wlads fault, he was still undefeated post lewis (after tearing lewis up for 10 rounds let me add) Mercer wasn't "shot" when he got annihilated by Wlad. He is the same age as vitali (who is still dominant HW champ) is now!
Mercer was coming off a 7 fight winning streak (7-0, 6 KOs) since the close MD against Lewis. He was in great shape for the Wlad fight, weighed 228 lbs, 10 lbs lighter than he was against Lewis.
Wlad became the first man to knockdown and KO Mercer.
Mercer started late as a professional at 28. He had never been knocked out prior to this fight. He had never been knocked down prior to this fight except a slip duck against Holyfield. He wasn't hurt. He had only lost close decisions to Lewis, Holyfield, Holmes, and Ferguson. His last loss was a majority decision loss to Lewis prior to this fight. He KOed 6 men and decisioned Tim Witherspoon after Lewis and before Vladimir. Mercer had little wear and was still a tough fighter til K. Green Wlad KO6 Mercer.
As for vitali vs briggs, they are contemporaries, same age, and it was one of the most one sided sustained beatdowns in history! During the fight Briggs took a severe beating and, after the fight, went down in his quarters. Brought to a hospital Briggs was initially treated in intensive care and found to have suffered a left orbital fracture, a broken nose, and a torn left biceps. In addition, he had another facial fracture above the right eye and a burst ear drum.
No one criticises lewis for fighting a 38 yr old holy do they?? Or tyson vs a 40 yr old retired holmes!

I misread your comment i thought you was on about Vitali Klitschko beating Shannon Briggs, which is why i said Shannon Briggs was past his prime when they fought. But come on forgetting the same age, Shannon Briggs was clearly way past his prime atleast 10 years. I agree Shannon Briggs was never elite but he was clearly shot when he fought Vitali Klitschko.
Again your bringing age into it, Ray Mercer was clearly not the same man who fought Holyfield, Lewis, if your trying to say he was then i can't really continue this debate. And for the record the Holyfield knockdown was a legit knockdown, it was a delayed body shot knockdown as i remember it, i can't remember exactly but i remember it being a left hook. And it was a "prime Ray Mercer" i might add aswell.

It's not vitali's fault he is genetically superior to briggs is it? They are both 41 and you saw the result! Vitali owns any version of briggs. As for mercer he was 35 when he fought lewis and the same age as vitali is now when he fought wlad having started late as a pro. No he probably wasn't the same but he was far from shot. You have my response we will leave it there.

Shannon Briggs has been in far harder fights than Vitali Klitschko, took more beatings has got alot more wear and tear and has asthma, nothing to do with being "genetically superior". The only tough fight Vitali Klitschko has been in is the one with Lennox Lewis. Unless you count the one where he quit vs Chris Byrd.

I'm pretty certain Lennox would leave Haye laying on the mat in a messy heap of unbraided corn rows and world class heavyweight reality.

It's no secret that I'm a fan of Haye, but I agree I just don't see any other result other than a Lennox KO assuming both men are focused in shape and not injured.

Wow... A quote from Manny Steward talking up HIS OWN BOXER... We can take that one to the bank
-
A prime lewis destroys Haye. Wlad was happy to jab Haye all night i think lewis throws his right hand after the jab alot more than we saw Wlad do and Haye wouldnt be able to take all of lewis right hands.
If Haye decides to run like he did with Wlad Imo Lewis stops him around the half way point. When Haye clinches LL will use his uppercut when they are in close ko him.

Right, he was so avoided that's why they offered Haye the fight like 80 times

Mentally if Lennox belives in what he says about finishing him in 2 rounds that makes the first scenario even more possible. Underestimating was his only mistake.
