Gennady Golovkin vs. Grzegorz Proksa Saturday night fight thread
:action: Golovkin is a Kazak, living in Germany, who has an undefeated record. (23-0 with 20 KOs) Proksa is a Pole, who resides in the UK, has won 28 (KO 21) + lost 1. Aside from their records, I don't know much about either Pug, but this might be a decent scrap Saturday night. Also on the card is Sergiy "I got KTFO by Martinez" Dzinziruk vs. Jonathan Gonzalez.
At Verona, N.Y. (HBO): Gennady Golovkin vs. Grzegorz Proksa, 12 rounds, for Golovkin's WBA "regular" middleweight title; Sergiy Dzinziruk vs. Jonathan Gonzalez, 12 rounds, junior middleweights.
So let's toss back a few and check these fights Saturday night, if Proksa wins he would bring back a Middleweight Title, to Championship impoverished Britain. :jester-new:

Re: Gennady Golovkin vs. Grzegorz Proksa on HBO Saturday night
I think next to maybe Gary Russell Jr., Golovkin is the most-hyped prospect in the sport right now. This is his first fight on U.S. TV and will be the first time I've seen him anywhere other than YouTube, so I'm very interested in seeing how he measures up to the hype.
I've yet to read a single prediction that's anything other than mid-to-late rounds KO for Golovkin.

Golovkin is a puncher, and you got love that remember him fighting as amateur, and he was putting them
away then see him put Bute away. I like him he's a danger man, a guy to keep a eye on.

There are at least 3 better Middleweights than Proska in Britain and very few decent Americans at the weight. If you want to talk about impoverishment Mars then how about sticking to the paucity of medals in the USA's Olympic boxing team, your heavyweights or lack of decent ones, and how few P4P best you have nowadays. The USA used to dominate boxing, not anymore. We never had that.
-
If Dirrell's trickery couldn't deter Golovkin then Proksa should be in for a bit of a pummelling.
-
Re: Gennady Golovkin vs. Grzegorz Proksa on HBO Saturday night
Proksa is 4/1 underdog so you won't earn much betting on Golovkin but there is still serious money to be earned if you bet on Golovkin winning by KO. And that's the most likely outcome. Espcially given the fact that Proksa didn't have a proper camp and at some point he will slow down.

Geezus Beanz, can't I have a go at you blokes every once in a while? Where's your sense of humor old chap. :)
As for the U.S.A.'s Olympic boxing team, you mean we have one? lmao

Re: Gennady Golovkin vs. Grzegorz Proksa on HBO Saturday night
This card starts tonight @ 9:45 PM ET here in the States, and for you night owls in the UK about 2:45 AM Sunday.
At Verona, N.Y. (HBO): Gennady Golovkin vs. Grzegorz Proksa, 12 rounds, for Golovkin's WBA "regular" middleweight title; Sergiy Dzinziruk vs. Jonathan Gonzalez, 12 rounds, junior middleweights.
I'm not sure if the undercard fight featuring Sergiy Dzinziruk vs. Jonathan Gonzalez will be shown on HBO, but it should be up first on B.A.D.
I'm wondering if Spicoli survived Issac, has electric power, and/or will be sober enough to watch the fights tonight.

Somehow, I think that we could be in for a surprisingly interesting fight...

Re: Gennady Golovkin vs. Grzegorz Proksa on HBO Saturday night
For us in the UK I can only see Fight night international advertised for the Sunday morning repeat on Sky so I guess unless you catch a stream we will have to wait. Could be fireworks, I can't say I am a huge fan of Proska despite his being Polish but this is a real mix of styles. His unorthodox approach may well confuse and frustrate Golovkin but he could just as easily get KO'd with that hands down style against him. Unlike the Sturm fight at least the neutral hosting country should mean if it goes to 12 the rightful winner is awarded the decision.

I had hoped this would have been on Box Nation! :(

Re: Gennady Golovkin vs. Grzegorz Proksa Saturday night fight thread
A bit of controversy as Gonzalez comes in 9 lbs over the 154 ( Jr. Mid) limit.

Its one thing when a old veteran fails to make weight by a couple pounds, sometimes the body just can't do what it used to. But holly shit your making your hbo debut and come in 12 pounds over at initial weigh in, that isn't even trying, glad to hear he surendered half his purse. I'm surprised dzin stayed in the fight, couldn't blame him if he had said fuck that

I wish and hbo would do the right thing by refusing to broadcast these offenders, and the commision should hit them with year bans when its this extreme

Re: Gennady Golovkin vs. Grzegorz Proksa Saturday night fight thread
Gonzalez doesn't look bigger, just fatter, and so far I don't see much talent there.

Yeah but sooner or later getting hit by a super middle-light heavy will probably catch up with dzin but I hope I'm wrong

Re: Gennady Golovkin vs. Grzegorz Proksa Saturday night fight thread
Well alright. Cheers fellas. If I'm not mistaken Gonzalez was the slug who came in 16 lbs overweight on FNF last year. He doesn't deserve HBO "status"
HBO should have told him no dice tubby. All that on camera haggling and dealing makes it sound like a backroom low level poker house. Way to many "prospects" doing this slacker bs now.
-
Dzin schooled him in that third round he should keep going to the body like he has been

Spicoli! How's it going Bro, you must have got your power back on. :)
-
Re: Gennady Golovkin vs. Grzegorz Proksa Saturday night fight thread
Ledderman has it even 38-38 after 4.
-
I gave the fifth to dzin he dominated two thirds of that round
-
Re: Gennady Golovkin vs. Grzegorz Proksa Saturday night fight thread
neither fighter looks very impressive.
-
Re: Gennady Golovkin vs. Grzegorz Proksa Saturday night fight thread
Dzinziruk's biggest problem is he lacks one punch KO power, Gonzalez walks right through his punches.
-
Re: Gennady Golovkin vs. Grzegorz Proksa Saturday night fight thread
Dzinziruk's only hope seems to be trying to tire gonzales out...but he isn't moving enough
or applying enough pressure

Hey dude. Power back on lastnight, carpet ripped up this AM...beers COLD ;D...we got lucky!
Armin man, I don't think they are thinking. Its a pattern for them now. He looks like luke warm garbage If I'm honest.
-
I'm sorry. I must be watchin a diffrent fight I have dzin well in this fight and just took the eighth for me and got it four a piece
-
I got it 5-4 dzin the fat slob wouldn't have a chance if he wasn't twnety pounds heavier
-
Re: Gennady Golovkin vs. Grzegorz Proksa Saturday night fight thread
This shouldn't have been a 12 rounder, 10 rounds would have been plenty for a non-title bout, especially this one. Ledderman has Gonzalez winning this fight by a round after 9. 86-85
-
Re: Gennady Golovkin vs. Grzegorz Proksa Saturday night fight thread
Why not enforce a much more telling penalty on the actual fight itself, rather than the purse and politics. Whos his promoter btw?
I say dock him a point right at the first bell, no doubt. Its not 'I couldn't make weight'...its 'I don't want to be bothered'. Guys like this actually planned to fight with more weight, while the opponent has to force it on in under a day just to keep up and make scratch.

Glad to hear everything is OK, and hey, you've got cold beer!
P.S. Aside from the flooding and worrying that your house might blow away, the worst part of hurricanes is the power going out. It's like heaven when it comes back on.

Re: Gennady Golovkin vs. Grzegorz Proksa Saturday night fight thread
If this fight stays close on the scorecards, i'm hoping they'll give it to Dzinziruk.
-
Re: Gennady Golovkin vs. Grzegorz Proksa Saturday night fight thread
Kennedy McKinney and Marco A. Barrera want their Boxing After Dark back
-
Six five dzin or 7 4 dzin definitely got him ahead tho
