Clinton knocked it out of park.
As an observer of politics across the 48th parallel I thought he nailed the entire crux of the situation. To paraphrase Obama was left with the biggest mess since the great depression and since he could not clean up an 8 year mess in 4 then boot his ass out and rehire us. And the Senate Rep leaders statement a while back seals the deal when he basically instructs both the Senate and Congress to make it a mission to get rid of the guy. Its as if they knew going in to 2008 that they were going to lose.
Its amazing really what the guy has been able to accomplish with those kinds of bullshit tactics working against against him.

Re: Clinton knocked it out of park.
:cwm33:
Bill Clinton for being as popular as everyone says he is never....I repeat NEVER won a majority in a Presidential election, only pluralities. As for his speech eh, it was typical pedestrian stuff just delivered in that Bill 'Big Dog' Clinton way. The man can speak but the points he makes are erroneous Obama himself said "If things aren't better in 4 years then I'll be a one term President".....well here we are 4 years later and things aren't better so by that rational Obama should be gone. Clinton bitched about deregulation when he himself oversaw the repeal of Glass-Steagal. The Democrats claim there is a "War on Women" and BILL CLINTON is your speaker?!?!
Things really won't be decided until the debates
The only thing I am happy about is that Elizabeth Warren didn't come out in mocasins and feathers......you know because she's an "Indian" and all :vd:

republicans are waging a war on america itself not just women.
besides clinton made sweet love to those women.
last thing i heard a republican say about women was that they can't get pregnant from rape.

Re: Clinton knocked it out of park.
I guess I take marriage vows more serious than most. I find infidelity disgusting and very telling of a person's character. I just don't understand portraying someone of such low moral character as the party standard bearer. If you don't take seriously the vows you spoke to your spouse in front of friends and family how trustworthy and principled are you?

obviously he and the missus have an agreement or understanding... they're still together after all.
you should keep your nose out of their bedroom. what business is it of yours anyway?
besides, aren't you the guy who's all about personal freedom anyway? here's a quote: "I much prefer dangerous freedoms over safe servitude." haha....

The responses you've gotten have all been predictable.
Regardless..... you hit the nail squarely on the head.

What does personal freedom have to do with a man's character? Personal freedom is about being able to make your own choices as much as it is about being held accountable for those choices. I'm not telling Bill what to do at all or his wife but if you don't see cheating on your wife, lying to the American people and committing perjury as major character flaws then I guess you and I just have two very different moral compasses. I expect leaders to be people of character and principles not the antithesis of integrity. If a party's icon lacks the basic morals to avoid infidelity then I think that says a lot about that party.

bill clinton is not the icon of the democrats. you may want to think of him that way, as a way of discrediting a party that you don't support... its your choice to use such a weak example to justify your stance. i'm sure that argument will win over a bunch of slack jawed yokles who have no trouble banging their cousin or sisters.
i think you should turn your gaze in the direction of the republican party and its leaders and apply the same critical eye to their deception, greed and abuse of power. i assume you'll be equally disgusted.
as for moral compasses, i've recently read some things about you that if true would suggest that you and i indeed have very different standards, morals and ideology.

Re: Clinton knocked it out of park.
Rocco,
You may not hold him as the standard bearer of the party but most people do, hence his speech being the most anticipated of the DNC. I don't think Clinton's character alone discredits the party but he is the topic of the thread. They have plenty of other issues that discredit them on their own merit. I'm happy to point out hypocrisy in the GOP as well and my posting supports this but this thread isn't about them. I'm not really sure what you are talking about regarding yokels but please tell just what you've read about me.

i respectfully decline to tell you what i've read-- i don't know if its true and i don't want to spread rumours. if true, we have different moral foundations and will probably never see eye to eye.
but... back to that main point of the thread. clinton did kill it at the convention! what a public speaker!

Re: Clinton knocked it out of park.
Bill Clinton is a great speaker, so i'd expect nothing less from him at the DNC. Bill is one of the few liberals I can stomach, even though I can't stand his "wife" Hillary.
The bottom line is after all the bullshit, emotional speeches by Michelle, Clinton, and Obama himself are over, ask yourself this, do you really believe Obama can lead/unite this country, lower the national dept, pay for Obamacare, jumpstart the economy and create more jobs? I for one don't think so, he had his chance and failed.

If you are referring to Miles stating I've killed people then yes it is true. I'm a Soldier. I swore to follow the orders of the President and 3 times the President has ordered me to go to a foreign country and hunt armed men. I don't apologize for doing my job well but what Miles always fails to mention is that for every time I pulled the trigger there is a dozen missions where we built schools, gave medical treatment, handed out humanitarian aid, trained coalition partners and built infrastructure.

Re: Clinton knocked it out of park.
@charlie,
I've gotta believe that miles just likes playing head-games, that's why I ignore him, nobody could really be that fucked up.
BTW, thanks for serving and always remember that there's a whole bunch of of Americans who appreciate the job you do.

Look what various presidents have done to the national debt :
http://www.ritholtz.com/blog/wp-cont...Debt-GDP-L.gif
Clinton didn't do such a bad job with the debt, did he? Then Bush 43 came along with the same policies Romney wants to bring back and the national debt took off again.

Re: Clinton knocked it out of park.
In U.S., Bill Clinton at His Most Popular
63% of women approve of Bill Clinton. That beats the approval rating of any of the last half dozen presidents at least, and most of them by some distance. Women don't seem to mind him being a womaniser.
