BBC Sport - Ricky Hatton expected to announce boxing comeback
Any ideas on opponents?
Theopane, Daws?
or a complete unknown confidence builder? Seeing as he is going to sell out the arena anyway he isn't going to take on anyone too risky.
I have no idea just throwing a couple of names out there.
It will be a complete no hoper.
Iv read somewhere that he is needing to do this to get a tv channel on board to show his fighters.
Lets be honest, people will still watch him whoever he fights, remember his WBU days?
Boxingscene is saying Lovemore N'Dou is a possibility.
Alex Arthur? :headscratch:
They won't announce his opponent straight away, just announcing the comeback gets him headlines everywhere, naming the opponent later gets more headlines and starts the ticket selling process. It's not going to be anybody British in case they beat him. It's going to be some ancient fucker who was world champ or world level at 135 or 140 a decade ago, so he's got some kind of name they can sell, clips of him fighting in Vegas are available for Sky or whoever to show him when he was actually world level. N'Dou is probably too old for the BBBC to sanction, or at least they used to have a rule saying foreign over 40s couldn't fight here unless it was for a world belt. Maybe the WBU will come to the rescue for auld lang syne.
His opponent is basically irrelevant, he'll probably sell the M.E.N out without naming anyone.
Hatton-Khan is gonna be beyond fucking massive though, down the line.
Hatton is doing it more for his promotional stable than his own come back. Has he found a TV company yet? I hope he comes back to ITV for this boxing comeback.
It has to be about himself otherwise it is just a business move and I cannot respect that. I want Hatton to comeback properly, I don't a business move to get his fighters more exposure. I don't care about that.
You have to mean it and mean it completely, to do anything otherwise is a sham. If Hatton isn't aiming for the stars, then I don't care.
got to be Hatton - Khan.
I still think Witter hatton would sell in the UK although it is wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy to late I think they could sell it.
looking at hatton on Sky news today i think it might be against Haye :-X
they talked about it before so maybe now we have a chance to see Hattan v Khan afterall
I reckon Khan-Hatton will happen next.
Hatton's comeback wont last that long. After the November fight he'll blow up in weight and be guzzling guiness till the cows come home.
Hatton wins November, Khan wins December, then spring/summer next year they can sell out wherever they want and smash British PPV records

If ya not seen the presser here's the link to it
I have a bad feeling about Ricky coming back, I'm afraid it may not be what's best for his health and his overall well-being.
But I wish him well. I'll be rooting for him to succeed.
I didn't expect to feel this way, but I'm really excited about this!! Hatton vs Brook or Khan - what a prospect!!!
How he performs the first time back in the ring is going to determine who he fights after that. If he looks terrible and is going life and death with some fossilised lightweight or light welter who has moved up to 147 to fight him then it's going to take a lot of gloss off his return. Who's going to want to watch him lose badly to Paulie or Khan if he's obviously nowhere near that level anymore?
Junior Witter wouldn't suprise me u no, as a possible opponent!
He's never going to fight anybody British first time out in case he loses. Definitely not Witter. There's zero chance of that fight happening. It'll be some foreign hasbeen who can make him look good.
There's more chance of him fighting Wlad than Witter.
He kept mentioning getting world rated and the only "champ" he mentioned was Powederpuff. There are plenty of fighters in the WBA top 15, with pretty unbeaten records, that he could beat.
Maidana would be good.
Souleymane Mbaye is probably a possibility.
Im sensing a kell brook fight, 3 fights in if everything goes well. Would that be a bad idea??
Maidana is much to dangerous - the last thing he wants is a comeback against some younger, stronger, granite crude fucker that walks straight through his punches then beats him into submission in the 7th round.
Fossils like M'baye, that are still ranked, is more like it, or Corley or N'dou or a whole host of unbeaten ranked fighters that are actually quite toilet.
Comeback Nov, Malignaggi next spring/summer (possibly squeezing in another rust shedder before then) if successful against the magic man then big money fight against Khan/Brook at the end of the year.
Khan is probably quicker than Brook but i'd give the edge in power to Brook and I think it's safe to say Brook has the better chin and can probably dig a bit deeper when the going gets tough. Going on that I would expect Hatton to aim for Khan.
Could be an exciting 12 months. I just hope Hatton doesn't pick Ndou as his November opponent. Yes he's old but he's going to be in good shape he was supposed to fight recently and I think a last minute offer to fight Hatton is the real reason he pulled out. He's tough as old boots and could wreck some plans.
A fight with Khan/Brook (especially Khan) would be a stadium gig. They would piss-up 50,000+ tickets. You can't do stadiums in the winter.
Before everything; he'll have to go through Pauli. Normally he would have his chances, but he did damage his body so badly with his lifestyle that I do wonder what does he have remaining in his tank... I am absolutely not sold on the idea that he has anything meaningful remaining.
Pauli dont have a chance against Hatton and Khan would get messed up real bad as well, Hatton is going to come back strong the rest will have done him good he kos pauily and khan u herd it hear 1st
This will be fun whilst it lasts. I just have a feeling it will end badly just like Barry McGuigan’s comeback did. No way can I see Hatton beat a Kell Brooks, maybe he stands a better chance against Khan at welterweight but at light welter Khan destroys him. There is no way Hatton is going to have that fire i his belly like he did in his prime. However we will enjoy the ride. He needs a Gavin Rees type opponent small, light puncher and no chin.
I so want it to work out well, we are just going to have to see how he looks over 12 in this comeback first. Hopefully someone durable and who will force him to work.
I just watched his last fight again. Even allowing for Manny's movement and footwork making Hatton look bad, Hatton's movement and footwork was absolutely unbelievably bad. Physically and in his face he looked like a guy making a badly-advised comeback. And that was before the KO.
Add on four years of seriously abusing his body, his face-first style of fighting and the fact that his punch resistance will definitely not have been helped by that KO and you have a disaster waiting to happen. Apparently he had a fight with his dad recently about his comeback and the police were called. Hatton is supposedly going to press charges.
I think he knew he was done after the last fight. He actually said "I'm not going to lead my fans up the garden path." Then his promotional company loses its TV deal, his promotional company is suddenly losing two million a year and at that exact same time he discovers he wants to return to the ring.
He's doing this for the wrong reasons, he was done at the top level before his last fight and the years since haven't exactly improved his chances of making a successful comeback. I can't see him fighting Paulie after watching what Paulie did to Senchenko. I can see him fighting one or two N'Dou-like guys before a moneyspinner with Khan. If he goes with Sky obviously they'll want to do the Khan PPV so they're going to be really careful about how they get there.
