Yes have a look at the Hatton thread.
Well, that will keep the cut men busy! I guess if Hatton wants to find out if he' still got it then Katsidis will certainly give him the answer. It will be a torrid fight, Hatton should win, but i wonder if it's going to be the answer he really wants to know?
It would be brutal for sure.
Not sure if Hatton could take the shots Katsidis would throw.
Apparently it is going to be called off after @TitoFan disagreed with Hatton's choice of opponent. Katsidis has turned down the opportunity to have one last roll of the dice with a fellow warrior and said that Titofan was right, "It's a complete mismatch as last time out despite throwing over a thousand punches in ten rounds I realised that Ricky Hatton is on a whole other level to Albert Mensah. Consequently I would like to finish by fighting a journey man who is no great shakes because I have always been a a saftey first cautious and timid fighter anyway, Thanks Titty, you are a legend"

Kats has lost 4 of his last 5, the last one being to Mensah. I don't like to say this about any prize fighter but I think he's shot and is way to small for 147.
@Greenbeanz, talk about predictable. Over half the forum disagrees with Hatton's choice of opponent, but as usual and as in every single disagreement, you single me out. You gotta quit this embarrassing man-crush you have on me.... it's a bit pathetic, don't you think? Maybe you don't like my straight-forward style. Maybe you don't like my nickname. Maybe you don't like Puerto Ricans. Either way.... please continue with your insults. I'm having a blast making fun of your ass.
;D
I don't see why anyone disagrees with the opponent.. They are probably the same people who laughed at the idea of Hatton coming back period a couple of months ago. Katsidis is probably all but shot, but he'll still be a decent guage as to what Hatton has left, and it should be a fun fight while it lasts. Can't have it both ways here, who do you expect him to fight:confused:
Someone in the vicinity of his own weight division, maybe?
Same views here. It is a name and a comeback fight on the back of a 3 year hiatus and an awfully tough to stomach KO loss. Katsidis goes up a weight and Hatton gets to see if his own chin exists. Sure, Katsidis is on the downturn, but potentially Hatton already was and he's been out 3 years. It all evens out into a very good fight.
I think it is a superb matchup and more than I was expecting.
Katsidis is definitely on the slide, but he will be a good guide for Hatton and he will be there right in front of him from the start. I can't see the point in Hatton fighting someone who will run from him all night. If he wants to know if he should continue then Katsidis will be a good test.
Over half the forum? Where did you pull such an unsubstantiated assertion from? I have no problem with any nationality so I am perplexed as to quite where your persecution complex comes from. Your obsession with same day weigh ins and absolute conformity would actually endanger the health of participants. You seem to have completely ignored Katsidis clearly calling for the fight himself whilst Ricky was retired. Your crass anti Hatton rants are becoming tiresome.
:lol:Quote:
Katasidis deserves some big money and will always give his best. He will test Hatton and make sure that Ricky is really ready for the comeback. He could even pull off the upset.
You know what, bro? Katsidis DOES deserve some big money. I couldn't agree with you more. He's one fighter who's always given his very best in the ring. He's super fan-friendly, with a style that pleases just about everyone. Kind of reminds me somewhat of Arturo Gatti. So good for him. But will he really test Hatton, when he's fighting at a much higher weight than he's accustomed to? And at a stage where he's probably a shadow of what he once was? I think not. So what's gonna happen? Hatton will win, and his fans will use this as the measuring stick it ISN'T, and that's when things will get crazy again.
I don't see why there's any complaints about this fight. Hatton never fought well at 147 and most of his fans felt he was too small for that weight class.
Katsidis isn't fighting a much bigger man here. It seems to me that this is a great matchup when you consider all the circumstances. I'd say this is probably the best fight that could be made for all parties. I'm hoping to see this one.
I like to discuss matters with people when there isn't any fanboy-ism involved... and the last couple of posts (yours and Master's) fit that description. Good point. You're right... Hatton's best weight was always 140. But this was during his peak years. You know his problems with weight. To me, Hatton can carry 147 a lot better than Katsidis can. I'm not claiming it won't be a good fight. I'm saying it's not the yardstick that Hatton needs to make sure he's "back". But pleasure discussing this with rational people for a change.
I've no beef with this fight at all - In fact, I want to attend. It has no meaning to it apart from to see what Hatton has left (or even Katsidis has left for that matter) but it's a fun fight with two big names, two all-action fighters and a pretty good comeback scrap.
For the record, Hatton fans always liked to whine how he wasn't best at 147. I always thought that was a bit of a cop out. I thought Hatton fit into Welter just fine but was obviously liked squeezing in at 140 where he could bully less talented opponents. 147 always had better talent and that was Hatton's stumbling block. Guys like Collazo and Floyd would have given Hatton problems at any weight. I think Ricky will have a distinct advantage over Katsidis at 147 and fully expect him to win the war of attrition if it comes down to that.
Really don't get some of the negative posts about Katsidis being a poor opponent if he does fight Hatton. Ricky was never to clever at welter. So the weight difference aint gonna be a huge issue really , Hattons been outfor 3 years so wtf do people expect?
A dive in at the deep end against a top 3 fighter.
This will be a great tear up while it lasts ,make no mistake about that.
There's a lot on the line here and the loser of this will surely have to retire.
