Holmes vs Cobb
....you know you could just list the fights brock
I am they did not stop the Gatti fight against Ward.
Also Haye was battering Carl Thompson from pillar to post.
Same with Holyfield v Bowe.
I remember watching Gabe Ruelas v Jimmy garcia and having a sick feeling. Vitali v Briggs
Probably one of the best fights ever could've been stopped earlier... but it would've deprived us of a classic for the ages: Corrales-Castillo I. It's a fine line those refs must walk... all the respect in the world to the best of them. Many of us can sit back and criticize after the fact. But it takes a special "something" to know when it's time to stop a fight.
Each time I revisit Morales/Ayala I find it tougher to watch. That was a sustained total beat down and I could not believe Paulie's chin. I think that fight ruined him.
Frenkel/Macaranelli
these are great examples yes ındeed.
For my likings nothing comes close to Williams-Jack II.
Not only was it brutal but gut wrenching. At one point Williams stops throwing punches and looks at the ref. saying what are you waiting for? Ref. does nothing and Williams wales off another set of free shots.
I believe he lands about 50 FREE shots on Jack until the ref. jumps in...
Here's the video skip to the 7:00 min mark...

I think some people misread the question, this is basically one sided fights say Calzaghe vs Lacy for example. That should of been stopped but went the distance anyway, fights like Corrales vs Castillo 1 doesn't count unless im wrong Brockton ?
I thought the same as you guys at first i put.
Benny Kid Paret vs Emile Griffith 3
Alex Garcia vs Bull Benton
Tua-Ruiz and Tua-Moore. Those fights should have been stopped as soon as Ruiz and Moore left the dressing room and walking to the ring to face Tua.;D
But on a serious note, I just got done watching Foreman-Frazier 1 again and felt that fight should have been stopped after the 3rd kd in the first. Frazier was basically out of it already after the 3rd kd. But I guess as HW champ he got the benefit of the doubt and was given opportunities to defend it.
Nothing about only one-sided fights on the title. And although Corrales-Castillo was anything but one-sided... the fact remains that Corrales was at one point in the 10th round... OUT. The ref could've stopped it right there and no one would have complained too loudly. But he didn't, and Corrales staged one of the greatest comebacks ever.
I think it's a great example.
ı guess when ı wrote the OP ı was thınıkıng of ANY fıght at ANY tıme wjhether ıt went the dıstance or not---that should have been stopped at a certaın poınt. Even ıf the hurt fıghter later recovered and fınıshed or even recovered and WON )(as ın the Corrales example) that fıght could be used as an example of a fıght that should have been stopped lıke when Corrales went down for the 2nd tıme agaınst Castıllo.
I personally wouldnt have stopped the fıght at that poınt as Coprrales was oddly chattıng wıth Goosen puttıng hıs mouthpıece back ın when he really should have been totally on Queer Street at that poınt.
Wow that Beau Jack and Wıllıams fıght ıs fuckıng sıckenlıng!! Fuckıng sıckenıng how Wıllıams looks to the ref about 3 tımes before resumıng hıs barrage---and even more sıckenıng that Jack wasnt even aware that the punches had stopped!!
Calzaghe v Lacy , Jeff took a 12 round beating the amount of head punches he took, was sickening
regardless off him marching forward, his corner should hang there heads in shame.
Lacy after that fight, was finished never the same, in mind and body you have to say he was just a
punch bag in that fight sad but true.:(
If they'd stopped the fight Tex wouldda gone crazy lol Did you know at the end of the fight Tex asked for 3 more rounds & he'd be World HW champ as Larry hands hurt him too much to hit Tex any more. I thought this was just Tex Bs ing me but fight ref Steve Crosson verified Tex asked him for 3 more rounds LOL
