I've watched this fight 20+ times. With volume, w/o volume, in the dark, sober, drunk whatever and for the life of me I can't see how ODH doesn't take 7 rounds to win the decision.
Re: Does anybody really believe Trinidad beat Oscar? Shocking hıghlight vid
the night of the fight, I had it 2-2-1 after five. I then gave Oscar the next three, but then he gave away the last four and lost by a point on my card. I watched it three or four more times within a year of the event and scored it the same way each time. I always end up at 2-2-1 after five, though I have changed my mind about which rounds were won by each fighter.
All in all, a pretty disappointing fight. I thought the most telling comment made by anybody connected to the fight was made by Oscar after the fight, when he said his fight plan was "not to get hurt."
Re: Does anybody really believe Trinidad beat Oscar? Shocking hıghlight vid
One of the really bad decisions of the recent past. I can't believe there are people out there who think Tito won.
People slam Oscar for taking his foot off the gas and fighting safe the last few rounds, but I think it was a great gameplan because he SHOULD HAVE had enough rounds in the bag to win comfortably.
Lame decision.
Re: Does anybody really believe Trinidad beat Oscar? Shocking hıghlight vid
Between this fight and the Trinidad Vargas fight, I realised I wasn't really a fan of Tito. I know that's blasphemy to any Puerto Ricans in here but I've always preferred the boxer/punchers to out and out power houses..and Tito kinda showed me between those two fights, that while he was a good boxer, he was never a GREAT boxer. His power is what made him great but he was alarmingly easily outboxed by nearly all of the elite he ever faced. I know he ended KO'ing a 20 year old Vargas in the end but there was no way he should have been allowed back into the fight after the first round.
Puerto Rican legend no doubt. One of the greatest punchers in history but nowhere near the greatest of boxers.

great heart and determınatıon he had for sure---and a great punch---a real good puncher he was.
I never lıked hım too much though because I thınk he had poor balance and hıs footwork wasnt so great eıther. Wınky Wrıght made hım look lıke a total fuckıng amateur as dıd Hopkıns and Oscar as well.

I am like Grey, I had Tito winning, it all depends how you score the early rounds. Oscar won the mid rounds, Tito the end and the start were close. If you had Oscar winning them then you have a landslide victory.

Re: Does anybody really believe Trinidad beat Oscar? Shocking hıghlight vid
I don't have my card in front of me but on fight night I believe I had it a one point win for Trinidad. Honestly, my bias then may have swayed me because it was clear Oscar boxed his ears for the first part of the fight. The last few rounds stuck and I saw Oscar fight a very negative time out the clock fight. Then again, Tito was unable to capitalize at all and couldn't cut off a ring that night if he was handed a box of Ginsus.
Re: Does anybody really believe Trinidad beat Oscar? Shocking hıghlight vid
It was Oscars fault, that last round damned him. Yes he was ahead but judges don't see what people see on TV.
Re: Does anybody really believe Trinidad beat Oscar? Shocking hıghlight vid
It was a close fight , Oscar threw it away in last few rounds.I had Trinidad 1 round up.
Oscar never won the really big ones .

It was that long ago I cannot remember. It was not a classic even if both were undefeated fighters. I watch the Tito v Vargas and Oscar v Vargas loads of times as they are classic fights but this one was a major disappointment.

Re: Does anybody really believe Trinidad beat Oscar? Shocking hıghlight vid
Over the years I've had Oscar winning it by 1 round or it's a draw from multiple viewings of the fight. Oscar gave up the last 3. So basically for the first 9 rounds I usually have it 6-3 in favor of OScar and sometimes 7-2 on different viewings. At worst it should be a draw. But Oscar screwed himself over by giving up the last 3. As someone here said, the judges only has 1 angle of seeing the fight whereas viewers have multiple angles from watching it on tv.
Re: Does anybody really believe Trinidad beat Oscar? Shocking hıghlight vid
I still have it 117-111 for DLH, i can concede the first round as even only. DLH clearly won rounds 2 through 9 and gave away the final 3. This fight was not close. DLH may have received some close decisions in his career (Whitaker and Quartey) but this remains a travesty of justice as Trinidad was handed a boxing lesson and he knew it!
Re: Does anybody really believe Trinidad beat Oscar? Shocking hıghlight vid
Huge Tito fan here and no doubt I was swayed at the time because Oscar gassed as usual and ran like a ten year old that just egged your car. After watching it live, I revisited it several times but have not in years. Why don't you guys lobby the powers at be for a replay section and that way we can all go score controversial fights on a monthly basis?
Once we dropped to 12 rounds from 15 in championship fights 10 through 12 became the championship rounds. Whether or not it was the last 5 or compressed to the last 3 over time, Oscar chose flight over fight. Not a good last impression. Not even in the same ball park as Ramirez/SweetPea 1 or Shultz/Foreman in the jobbing department.
Re: Does anybody really believe Trinidad beat Oscar? Shocking hıghlight vid
I don't get why anyone calls this a robbery, alot of fans often call close decision's robberies. At worst for Felix Trinidad it was 7-5 ODLH, it's a pretty easy fight to score after 9 rounds 6-3 ODLH then Felix Trinidad win's the next 3 making it 114-114.
Now maybe 2 rounds were somewhat debatable you could, have an even round in there somewhere or maybe have Trinidad or ODLH winning a certain round. But apart from 2 of the early rounds pretty easy fight to score IMO no robbery here, although i think it should of been a draw.
