DeMarco vs. Broner - Saturday night chat/fight thread
:action: Here's hoping DeMarco kicks Broner's pretentious punk ass.
Seth Mitchell vs. Johnathon Banks, should be worth watching.
Nov. 17
At Atlantic City, N.J. (HBO): Antonio DeMarco vs. Adrien Broner, 12 rounds, for DeMarco's WBC lightweight title; Seth Mitchell vs. Johnathon Banks, 12 rounds, heavyweights; Demetrius Hopkins vs. Keenan Collins, 8 rounds, junior middleweights.
I'll go with DeMarco by a SD (which I admit might be wishful thinking) and Mitchell by TKO over Banks.
:drinker:

Re: DeMarco vs. Broner - Saturday on HBO
Looking forward to this one and the Villoria/Marquez card. Cant say enough about Gonzalez and if he was not at 108 he'd be the talk of the world. Incredible fighter.
-
Re: DeMarco vs. Broner - Saturday on HBO
I like Mitchell and Broner by KO. DeMarco will run into something and Banks doesn't have enough to keep Mitchell off of him.
I'm more exicited about the Viloria vs. Marquez unification title fight because on paper it's a closer fight than the ones mentioned above. I like Viloria by knockout, although I can see Marquez winning a decision too.

Sounds pretty fly to me bro.. ;)
At Los Angeles (WealthTV): Hernan "Tyson" Marquez vs. Brian Viloria, 12 rounds, WBA/WBO flyweight unification; Roman Gonzalez vs. Juan Francisco Estrada, 12 rounds, for Gonzalez's WBA junior flyweight title.
There should be a stream for these fights.

DeMarco is a tough kid, I believe he'll give Broner all he can handle, I see DeMarco either winning a close fight or getting screwed on the scorecards.

Broner is the next mayweather..hopefully.

Cant see it. I think Demarco either gets stopped mid to late or his corner throws in the towel.

I don't see Broner winning this fight, unless DeMarco gets fucked on the scorecards. My reasoning is, DeMarco is bigger and has enough power to hurt Broner who's never really been tested. I also think Broner is overrated @135, and that DeMarco isn't being given enough credit for being a champion @that weight. I wouldn't be surprised to see Broner get KTFO in this one.

Demarco is not bigger amigo. Broners a welterweight. This aint going to the cards to be fucked. Broner is by far the bigger puncher with both hands and is much more technically savvy working behind the shoulder from an offensive line rather then a defensive one. Flat footed from a wide stance giving nothing for his opponent to hit. Fast as hell and a great counter puncher to boot. People make far to big a deal out of the Ponce fight imo.I think Demarco is taking a nap bro.
-
Re: DeMarco vs. Broner - Saturday on HBO
Also hoping Demarco shuts shit head up. He's def the underdog, but least has some punching power, which Broner has avoided facing anyone with any punching power in his last 3 fights or so.
Litzau was the last man with even a puncher's chance. The rest have been feather fisted little guys.

Can we agree that it should be a good fight? You sound like you're not giving DeMarco any credit at all, you might be in for a shock here bro. ;)

Yeah we all agree he's a dick. What does that have to do with his ability as a fighter?

I thinks its a good give and go for a time my friend. I just don't give Demarco much of a shot. I like Demarco and think Broner somewhat a clown but his abilities are as clear as day.

Right, DeMarco has decent power, he's 3 inches taller and he's the best fighter Broner has faced so far.

How about..
Marquez/Viloria
Gonzalez Estrada
?

Re: DeMarco vs. Broner - Saturday on HBO
Firstly does D. Hopkins have incriminating photos of someones family that keeps getting him big card fight exposure ??? Hopefully it'll be well tucked off air.
This is a solid few scraps here and looking forward to them all. Viloria and Marquez is a very solid potentially explosive fight! I can see Viloria needing to come off the deck but boxing it out for a 12 rnd call. Banks vs Mitchell is interesting for the sub plot of potential matches for Wlad and him now being head trainer. Mitchell has holes and Banks is a capable straight line hitter but Mitchell should take this via tko.
I predict Broner blows the weight and will in fact walk in a near welter...again. I also think DeMarco will win this one via a late tko and turn Broner into Hammerin Hank Lundy right before our very eyes :-X .Hey, I don't dislike him because he's an asshole, but because I think hes taken shortcuts and hoodwinked his way to some thinking he has already 'arrived'. Fact is, he hasn't done shart. DeMarco is very underrated now and as a converted southpaw is a very cutting accurate puncher with solid poise and an outstanding finisher. This is a good fight between two very capable young talents, but I think Antonio will wake Broner up from his dream like a bucket of ice water.

TBH, i'm not as interested in these 2 fly fights as some of you seem to be, but just for farts 'n giggles i'll say Viloria by late round TKO, and Roman G. by UD.
-
Re: DeMarco vs. Broner - Saturday on HBO
He's not a converted southpaw because he fights southpaw. A converted southpaw fights right handed or orthodox.
Looks he's a tough guy with a good skill set but I really do think this is Broners coming out party. I hope he makes weight and would think he would. Last time was a matter of wanting to move up anyway. Straight left is an issue but so is Broners straight right. No way does Demarco match Broners speed.

That's another thing I can't stand about Broner, he makes up his own rules, pisses on the integrity of boxing, contracted weight limits, and it's a form of cheating, so yeah, it wouldn't surprise me if Broner comes in at welterweight. If he does and I were DeMarco, i'd tell him to go fuck himself.

Dude man, dont be so anal ;D ;) Converted from righty and now southpaw. Seriously though, Broner shows signs of all the talent you speak of, but Demarco has improved far from just a 'tough-guy'. Broner had better make weight and keep this one legit without the last minute used car lot dealings. Speed kills but hes never been hit as clean with a varied volume as he faces with Demarco. Two way street at this level.

I would as well. The irony is we see tons of it now and guys shelling over a percentage of purse...almost like they are doing the other a favor to 'save them a huge payday'. The one who trained and met contract gets the pressure and the shaft while the stroked and groomed "next whateva" network sod gets a pass and a return date next out.

Re: DeMarco vs. Broner - Saturday on HBO
Here's hoping that if Demarco somehow flattens Broner, that while hes doing the post fight interview, he asks Broner's dad if he wants a job brushing Demarco's hair. I'd pay to see that.;D

Yes Broner is hard to like, DeMarco solid pro, when fights like this happens, the flash brash idiot gets
all the headlines, weather we like it or not. DeMarco should not be written off, he's the champ proven
at the weight, any luck I hope he sparks the IDIOT. ;)

;D Sorry but.. and here I thought Winky was the only converted rightie. Interesting. I think it will be a good fight and if Broner comes in heavy again then I will most likely dump him faster then my last pair of basket masters.

That would be hilarious, the only reason I have any interest in this fight is to see how DeMarco does, I can't stand looking at or listening to Broner.

I agree with IamInuit. As much as I'd like to see Broner get his ass kicked you can't deny his ability inside the ring.
If Broner acted like a man--instead of a boy--outside of the ring he would be as popular as Mayweather.

Re: DeMarco vs. Broner - Saturday on HBO
I think Broner wins on points or gets a late stoppage. If he KOs De Marco it's going to look good on his resume seeing as the only guy who ever stopped De Marco is Valero. I think he'll make the weight too.
Mithcell/Viloria/Gonzalez.

Agreed. He's my favourite little guy by far. So accurate and his punch selection is unreal. I cant see Estrada lasting long either. He's been fighting at 112 and 115 and dropping to 108 compiles his problems.

No Sir, not the exact odds, but I heard Broner is a big favorite. I could be wrong, but I believe DeMarco is being underrated here, and i've yet to see how Broner does against a live dog who has decent power.

Re: DeMarco vs. Broner - Saturday on HBO
A quick question for those who believe DeMarco is a live underdog or perhaps a clear winner, do you base this assumption based on the Ponce De Leon fight "win" by Broner or the Linares victory by DeMarco?

A little of both, but besides Ponce what 'top' fighter has Broner faced or beaten? Broner may be really good, the thing is he hasn't proved it yet. If he blitzes though DeMarco, his fans can start saying he's all that, right now he's just a great prospect. Keep in mind, Broner's only claim to fame is winning the vacant WBO super featherweight title and defending it twice against mediocre opponents. Let's keep it fucking real.

Its quite clear that you do not like the man but I'd like to know how his fans are not being real? People make far to big a deal out of the Ponce fight. That happens and it was Broners 20th fight. Much to do about nothing. Anyone who has watched the sport in any kind of a serious way can see that this kid has enormous talent. He's only 23 and only has 24 fights. Floyd fought a battle warn Hernandez (rip) in his 18th fight followed by a weird stop against Manfredy and then a selection of worn out vets and then fighting Augustus in his 24th fight. All along being touted as special. Very similar competition background. Alvarez is drawing in on 50 fights and you barely hear a peep about his lack of comp. Yet he's the greatest thing since sliced bread. Broner could be the next Floyd or maybe the next Ibeabuchi but I think he is going to frustrate the hell out of DeMarco and stop him.
-
Canelo gets a lot of backlash for his opposition thus far. A lot of people think he's overrated b/c of it.
For the record, Broner will dominate Demarco. Early-mid round stoppage.
Current Odds are Broner -500.

Gosh Inuit, go figure, why would you think I don't like Broner bro. ;)
I know you're a big fan of Broner, but from my perspective, beating a bunch of taxi drivers/tomato-cans, then winning the vacant WBO super featherweight title and defending it twice against more mediocre opponents doesn't really prove much. DeMarco is Broner's first real test, if he looks good, then you Broner's boners might have something to start shouting about. Keep in mind, even if he gets by DeMarco, it remains to be seen how well he will do at the next level.

So just raise the bar on a con current level. You cannot on the one hand my friend pick him to lose to Demarco and then claim if he wins it's no big deal. Thats pretzel logic. Not sure why you concentrate so much on the resume and not what you see? Robinson has a worse resume in his first 25 fights.

For the record, Broner will dominate Demarco. Early-mid round stoppage.
Current Odds are Broner -500.
It least Alvarez has been a champion for a while, and fought some upper level competition.
As for Broner dominating and knocking DeMarco out, I don't think so, but we shall see grasshopper. :beerchug:

For me its as simple as the later mostly, meaning what DeMarco has proven what he is capable of rather than what Broner has shown he is not. That fight with Linares was no 'fluke'. People have rose colored glasses on for a guy who has been over 8 rounds once...once! I know DeMarco has run much deeper in career and I think he is being written off as some run of the mill also ran. He is as methodical and thinking a fighter as they come. He is a quality fighter that has made solid improvement. He doesn't flatten guys, he cuts them up and beats them up, and he has been there and done that!
