"Macho" Camacho shot in Puerto Rico he's in critical condition...

Just read that he was in a car in his homeland of Puerto Rico and was the passenger when a car pulled up next to them and opened fire hitting in the neck and in the face. The driver was shot dead.

Yeah my brother-in-law just texted to tell me. I'm watching the local news to find out other details.

Obviously this was intentional and not some accident...
I know he's had trouble with the law here in the states.

Still... it's not known whether they were looking for him or the driver.

I've read critical condition, I've also read grave condition. Hard to tell what's true, but it seems fairly clear that it's serious.

It happened around 7pm Puerto Rico time so about 3 hours ago...
Last report said he was in critical condition.

I just read that he's got a bullet lodged in his brain.
The chances of him surviving this are very slim. :-\

Ugh this stinks. I'm sick of coming on boxing sites and reading horrible news about boxers. Hoping beyond hope that Macho can pull through this and maintain some quality of life.

Update****, apparently Camacho is on life support and his condition is not looking good. There are reports of decreased brain activity and his mother is heading to PR to determine if he is to be taken off life support.

Remember Camacho use to one of my favourite fighters and I had a pony tail at school to copy him. Hope he pulls through this terrible incident.

What...the hell is going on with boxers being shot these days? First its Sanders trying to save his baby girl and now Camacho being gunned down in a situation that appears to be of design rather than circumstance.

Oh boy, here's hoping for the best.

So bummed out after hearing of his passing earlier today and the how.Just a fucking tragedy. Looked high and low for a suitable vid to post in order to give this incredible fighter justice and was unable to find one.

I know what you mean, but just to clarify for those who may not understand you clearly - Sanders didn't just 'try' to save his daughter, he shielded her from bullets during an armed robbery and paid the ultimate price.

Damn, that is truly, truly sickening. Just so awful. What do you say about something like that? If the brain is gone, then so is he. It's just a matter of time. The poor bugger.

God willing they will bury all of them under the jail, in all three cases. Camacho was so full of life...actually one that 'transcended' they sport, household name early. I had a co worker who knows zero about the sport ask me if I heard about it. Her father would watch with her in P.R when Camacho was coming up.

So true and well said. From the early to late 80's he was special.

it's official already, he's brain dead, and there is nothing more they can do, his body is still running because of life support, but once the machine goes he'll go with it, RIP Macho, may he finally be at peace

Really sad shit, I guess it's just a matter of time before Camacho's family pulls the plug or he dies, you really hate to see it end this way, it's hard not to like the "Macho man" a bit, he was a big part of the boxing community for a lot of years.

This is a heartbreaking story. I don't know if it was a drug deal gone bad, a personal vendetta or a random act of violence, but it doesn't matter.

A hall of fame boxer, and one of the most colorful and toughest boxers of modern times is dead at the age of 50.

Tragic. We'll all miss him and remember what a great boxer and showman he was inside that ring.
