Manny Pacquiao...Parkinsons or Alzheimers after fighting JMM?
Not good news. Just wanted to share.
Manny Pacquiao could be showing early signs of Parkinson's or Alzheimer's, Filipino doctors worry - Bad Left Hook
If you google "Manny Pacquiao Parkinsons" or "Manny Pacquiao Alzheirmers" you'll see bunch of news out there.
Re: Manny Pacquiao...Parkinsons or Alzheimers after fighting JMM?
PAC is done. I think he will retire on Valentine's Day 2013. Pink Hearts and Manila Cream Pie.
Re: Manny Pacquiao...Parkinsons or Alzheimers after fighting JMM?
Doctor is just speculating based on interviews. Without an examination, it is all very speculative.

Re: Manny Pacquiao...Parkinsons or Alzheimers after fighting JMM?
It's not all that surprising considering all the wars and sparring sessions Manny has been through. It wouldn't have just been because of JMM 4, although that pretty much done its damage too.
Re: Manny Pacquiao...Parkinsons or Alzheimers after fighting JMM?
It's a risk all fighters take when they step in the ring.
The human brain and skull isn't made to get punched 1000 times.
Re: Manny Pacquiao...Parkinsons or Alzheimers after fighting JMM?
Poppycock. There is nothing wrong with the man.
He won't be the same again, but it not an illness. It is the Hatton syndrome, you don't come back after that.

Everyone should have a skull like George Chuvalo or Marvin Hagler.
One where you can be a punching bag for guys like Foreman and Frazier and be perfectly fine at 75.

Re: Manny Pacquiao...Parkinsons or Alzheimers after fighting JMM?
This media whore dork never even examined Manny and went on a radio show and never even talked to Manny's camp or physicians.
Junk science
Re: Manny Pacquiao...Parkinsons or Alzheimers after fighting JMM?
Without an examination it's little more than gossip.
One thing as fans we all have to accept is that the sport we love takes it's toll on the fighters - either suddenly and dramtically or slowly over the years - these guys pay a heavy price for their art and our entertainment.
Re: Manny Pacquiao...Parkinsons or Alzheimers after fighting JMM?
The worry and concern over Manny Pac over a brutal knock out is disproportionate to what you would expect for any other fighter.
Manny will get over it and comeback this year with more vigour to avenge his losses. It will be all mental for Manny to overcome the demons of the knock out, like a racing car driver who has had a very serious crash, but he will overcome it. Roach will ensure that Manny does.
Re: Manny Pacquiao...Parkinsons or Alzheimers after fighting JMM?
I think he is suffering 'Marquezitis' more than anything else and the early signs of that were most evident in the 3rd fight, his symptoms have just got worse since then.
First up was Bradleyosis and then a full on attack of Marquezitis that floored him completely.

Read my post carefully. I am saying people are going over board with this. So he was knocked out but saying he has a condition is ridiculous.
Re: Manny Pacquiao...Parkinsons or Alzheimers after fighting JMM?
Till there is scientific evidences, this is just pure speculation. I think that after this KO, ROach will tell him to retire, base on life experience, he's damn well placed to know what he's talking about.
Still, disease or not, Manny lost a bit of what he used to be, that we like it or not. At this point, he should retire or make one last fight that he could possibly win to call it a day and leave the ring in style but he should defo retire asap. Glorious career, stellar records, one of the most charismatic and spectacular fighter of his era. Perfect time to ride the sunset.
Re: Manny Pacquiao...Parkinsons or Alzheimers after fighting JMM?
Saying Pac has Parkinsons or Alzheimers after fighting JMM may be silly ( I agree ) . Assuming that Pac will come back and mow down the competition is assinine.
Only safe opponents that will generate cash flow are Hatton, Bradley and Cotto.
Re: Manny Pacquiao...Parkinsons or Alzheimers after fighting JMM?
I'm a student and by no means an authority, but I can tell you that from what I've seen, Pac isn't displaying any symptoms of any kind of neurological degenerative disorders like Parkinson's or Alzheimers
The physicians who released these statements should know better than to make diagnoses based on what they see on TV. Both of these diseases are progressive and take time to fully manifest.
I haven't seen any kind of tremors or Pac showing any kind of memory problems to suggest any kind of evidence for either disease.
Besides if you want to get into the biochemistry of both disorders, they are kind of at the opposite ends of the spectrum.
In Parkinson's, there is a dopamine deficiency and eventually the dopaminergic receptors themselves start to degrade. With the decrease of dopamine, the cholinergic system starts to take over. The imbalance between achetylcholine and dopamine is why these involuntary tremors at rest occur.
In Alzheimers the cholinergic system is effected first, resulting in a decrease in achetylcholine in parts of the brain. That's why anti acetylcholinesterase agents are administered initally.
