Adams is the only one who seems consistantly decent. He should cross over to the PDC.

I watched the other darts final the other day and it was amazing.
Scores are like 45, 43, 83, 59. I watched a set yesterday without even a 140.
not watched it yet - might for a laugh

I seriously think I could turn a few of them over and my dart board's been in the shed for over a year.

i keep track of my averages now in practice - only early 60s. Way off the mark (too many 26 scores). Then again I don't prctice 6 hours a day like these guys

I actually used to be a really good player, but haven't picked a dart for about 15 years. Me and my mate were 2 of the best in town (I had a few 11 dart 501s). My mate carried on playing, when I stopped and went on to be top of the county averages (93 average for whole season) and played on circus tavern stage with Mardel, Whitlock, and Lewis, amongst others. I actually believe that if I had've committed to darts I could've got somewhere, may start again one day, but missus won't let me gave board up in house LMAOQuote:

11 darters are impressive. I once had a 13 darter but have only maybe had a dozen or so ever under 18. Like I said its ok throwing a 140 but not when your next 12 darts only add up to 130 ! I've said it many times before and I will again - I really think darts should get more recognition for the skill the PDC guys show to throw for three hours with the accuracy they do.
You should put a board up by way of violence. I have my own dart room filled with boxing memorabilia where my rules only apply. Often just throw while a live footie match is on.
Actually on doubletopdartshop site right now trying to choose some new arrows. Real pain in arse there are no proper sports shop any more that stock them - all cheapo Mike Ashley shops in Leeds. Mail ordering not the best for things like darts.
I used the same darts from when I was about 10, probably be too small now. Yeh, never see darts in sports shops now. I used to love going into the shop and getting new flights when Iqas a kid!Quote:

We've got a proper darts shop here in Brizzle. Boards set up and you can try every dart they sell before you buy, really nice place, they do snooker gear as well, same deal table set up so you can crack a few balls about before parting with your cash.

glad you wrote that about a try before you buy place. Just googled it and theres one in Harrogate about 10 mile or so from me that does same sort of thing.

Regardless I don't think we will be seeing him in the PDC anytime soon. What is good to see is all the youngsters playing. If they use the BDO as their 'training ground' then it does have a place.
I am actually now enjoying watching it for the comedy value.
There was one guy last night who I am certain I could have beaten - Rune or something.

Just seen its Scott Waites v Tony O'Shea in final
Out of curiosity I checked their averages
Waite got to final averaging (3 matches) - 89,90 and 92
O'Shea - 86, 87, 94 (that could hve been god enough for QF in PDC but cos of his first two averages he would have gone out before that anyway !)
Richie George got to semi with a highest average of 84
I knew there was a gulf in class but its getting bigger - not one player who could move to PDC really.
Probably why they haven't. Sometimes it is better to be a big fish in a small pond.
Over the past 3 years Waites has won the Grand Slam of Darts, which includes ALL the top PDC players, lost in a final to Taylor, BEAT Taylor in the round robin this year, and ended up losing to MVG who was averaging a ridiculous 105+ average over 30+ legs.
The overall standard of that BDO championship was shocking (not one player hit a 100+ average or even a 170 checkout, let alone a 9 darter) but Waites has already proven he can beat the big boys.

Waites is good enough for the PDC, potentially good enough to be top 10. He hits 100 averages in other events (had 99.86 average in 2010 Grand Slam final) but you probably play better based on your opposition and for the most part the opposition was awful O'Shea is a good player too and would be top 20-25
Waites average (86) was the lowest for any BDO winner in 19 years!! Phil Taylor still holds the highest from 21 years ago.
Taylor is a beast though isn't he?

PDC = big fish
BDO = little fish

I admit I didn't think he would ever win another World Title. I had MvG, Whitlock and Barney as my 3 pics. Taylor was awesome in the final, although even with that in mind, MvG should've won imo. He had a dart for 5-2 and then lost 5 sets in a row, his scoring let him down after the 7th set. Great game though!Quote:

Can't wait for Prem league, will be great to see how MvG does.
When they move across they have to first qualify for the main tour and then start every tournament in round 1. There's no guarantee you will get to play in the world championship let alone any other TV major.Quote:

Loads switch every year from the BDO to the PDC and loads end up back in the BDO (Bunting, Green, Eccles etc from this Lakeside comp). Look what happened to Ted Hankey this year (couldn't get near winning a floor tournament let alone qualify for TV).
If you play darts as a secondary profession, as guys like Waites do, and pick up £100,000 and qualify for £100,000 PDC tournaments, it can't be a simple decision to give that up to start again from scratch.
Obviously not confident in himself - is there even another televised BDO tournament during the year ?!?
Yes H - he should have gone 5-2 up. From tht moment on Taylor's first dart started t find the 60 too and it looked ominous. I still can't get over how good his switch is to the 57 either.
Taylor will win one maybe two more worlds I reckon after that the baton passes to MVG. He too is good enough to dominat like Taylor - not to the same extent mind, no one will ever do that
In the past few years, live on ITV and SKY Waites has beaten - Taylor, Barney, Lewis, Wade, Anderson, Whitlock, Jenkins and Thornton among lots of other top PDC players
Basically he's beaten every top PDC player.
I hope he switches to the PDC too, because without one of the worlds obvious best players, it devalues the PDC championship.
