I don't blame him for avoiding Froch as long as possible, it's all a part of boxing. It's been going on from the beginning. If he screws around long enough Froch might retire, anything is possible.

From what I understand from the medias here, Bute would want Froch now, his team doesn,t think that he's ready just yet. Now Pavlik or Bikia? Hard to say, I think that there is many talks at the same time and that they will opt for the better deal of them all.

Re: Ward Emertius Champ, Bika-Sjeloka For WBC Title, Bute for winner
Bute would be far better with Pavlik.
I dont think Pavlik is as strong or hard hitting as Bika and Pavlik will hesitate and think, whereas Bika will charge forward throwing all sorts of shit;D

I may be misremembering but didn't bute fight bika a few years ago and completely dominated?

Yes, Bute handled Bika better than anyone else, including Calzaghe and Ward.
This is probably why he is eager to fight Bika again, assuming Bika beats this Sjeloka fellow.
Bika is a beast, gotta love the guy. GO BIKA !

By Fuck!
What a twat, I forgot about that!
You might think Bute handled him easiest but Bika himself has said that Calzaghe was the best fighter hes fought.
Hmm, makes you wonder what went wrong against Froch. Maybe he just thought he could stand and trade because he saw Froch as easy to hit?

Re: Ward Emertius Champ, Bika-Sjeloka For WBC Title, Bute for winner
Sigh, fuck upgraded champs, I just want one p4p guy to go on TV and say: "hey fuck all these belts, I'm the man of my division and you can't call yourself anyone but a titlist or a paper-champ until you actually fight me."

Re: Ward Emertius Champ, Bika-Sjeloka For WBC Title, Bute for winner
When I read this at fightnews early today I was livid and stayed away from my computer.
What a joke. Why do people covet these meaningless trinkets when shit like this happens? I'm outraged as a hard core Bute fan and I had a feeling something like this would happen when the Kessler talks were on with Froch.
I've lost respect for Bute for agreeing to this route and it tells me he is mentally done. My suggestion to him is to go ahead and get that sex change operation.

This is part of the reason I was so shocked by the froch result. You can say bute fought nobodies and b fighters but he beat all those b fighters more impressively than anyone else did, with the exception of the andrade fiasco. Its like you don't look that good beating lower top ten and then just crash and burn like that, makes no sense.

Smells like a bit of a backdoor to a Championship frankly. Zero reason for Bute to rematch Bika, unless he had a trinket..oh wait ;D
The wbc needs to just start dispensing its belts from a bubble gum machine, it would be more straight forward.

The WBC is setting Ward aside--emeritus status--while he heals to get at the sanctioning fees, it said that in the article. It's about the money.

Off course. In the real world a set up belt is akin to a temp agency.

Scandelous statement. I can't believe you think the WBC would do something for money. Suliaman is in it for the love of boxing, and nothing more. I've said it before and I'll say it again, it is all about clarity. Hopefully we'll get another 12 WBC belts per weightclass to clear things up a little more.

This is designed only to get ward vs bute.
-
Re: Ward Emertius Champ, Bika-Sjeloka For WBC Title, Bute for winner
It is designed to get Ward against Bute but it'#s also designed to give the title to Bute who sells lots of tickets and makes lots of TV money. That means bigger sanctioning fees for the WBC. It looks like neither Bute nor Kessler want a rematch with Froch anytime soon.

Re: Ward Emertius Champ, Bika-Sjeloka For WBC Title, Bute for winner
Let's not get down on Bute for wanting to wait to fight Froch again. Don't forget he went to Froch's hometown, Nottingham, to fight Froch, and he got hammered.
I hope Bute fights Froch again, as opposed to fighting Bika. That's ridiculous. If he goes back to fighting B-rated guys, what's the point? He's done that already. A fight with Pavlik before a fight with Froch would make sense to me from a financial perspective, but fighting Bika for a BS belt, doesn't.
-
Re: Ward Emertius Champ, Bika-Sjeloka For WBC Title, Bute for winner
If this is confirmed then Bute has officially chickened out of a Froch fight. He should be a man about it and say I was royally battered by Froch so badly that I need to grow back my balls. In that time I am hoping Froch loses, retires or dies.

I've given up on all these title bullcrap...it don't mean a thing anymore (not for a long time)....the only thing that keeps me in boxing is the good matches that do happen from time to time
job biscuit (and the great history it has)!!!
eh eh!!!

I do agree with this, but maybe Bute' confidence is really Low and he needs more b-rated fighters to rebuild his confidence. Its probably the wisest option if Bute is looking to prolong his career, because if he fights Ward or Froch again I think he will lose.

I hate to admit, but I do agree with you, even if it means Bute becomes irrelevant.

Pavlik is a name, so that's a viable fight for Bute. Bika will have a belt, so that's a viable fight to. Both fights make lots of money and extend Bute's career by two big paydays. Bute can fight Froch next, lose again and it's difficult to come back or make any more big paydays. This way Bute gets two big paydays at least before he takes another big risk Froch/Ward fight.

There aren't any champions anymore, just a bunch of guys waving £20 weightlifting belts with big gay buckles on them that they pay to rent from sanctioning bodies.
