Donaire vs. Rigondeaux, April 27th 2013 is signed
Donaire vs. Rigondeaux on 4/27 in Vegas, Says Arum - Boxing News
2013 looking pretty awesome. I would wager that GBP makes Mares vs. LSC to counter this.
-
Glad to see Donaire getting in a good fight that will cement his legacy. I think it will be a good one but I'm backing Donaire to win a decision.

Big fight. I'm going to do my best to see this one live. I already think Donaire has cemented quite a legacy. Given his rise in weight and beating the best in the divisions he's been in, I think he's probably stamped his ticket to the Hall or damn close. A win over Rigondeaux might just put him in line for another fighter of the year award.

Good fight, can't wait for this. I still think Mares will be a better fight for Donaire.
I don't think Rigo goes the distance to be honest. I think he gets stopped.

Donaire by KO, could be early or late. It will be hard, for me, to wait for this one, I will be real surprised if Rigondeaux can handle the pressure and speed of Donaire.

Re: Donaire vs. Rigondeaux, April 27th 2013 is signed
Donaire for me too. Rigondeaux could well get sparked in this fight.

Re: Donaire vs. Rigondeaux, April 27th 2013 is signed
Wow, this is awesome news. I think it's is a complete pick em honestly, largely depends on how Rigondeaux handles the step up. I don't think either man has a stylistic advantage, they are both brilliant natural counter punchers so this could be a pretty edgy fight. I do think Rigo has looked more fluid or natural over the last couple of years, and while he hasn't fought anyone very good Donaire has also looked pretty complacent against a couple of lesser opponents. Really see it coming down to who wants it more and rises to the occasion, skillwise they are very near even to me.

Re: Donaire vs. Rigondeaux, April 27th 2013 is signed
Donaire must be the p4p best active fighter out there taking on all available challenges at the moment.
-
These two were both due for an uphill challenge.
As far as Donaire'a legacy, well, with him, it comes down to raw talent and skills alone. He has it. As far as I know, he also lives clean and has a good head on his shoulders.
Forget the politics about worthy challengers. Sometimes you just have to settle and deal with the ever changing climate of boxing.
As far as Rigs, well, he doesn't seem to be a very animated person. You can be the best p4p in this biz, but if you ain't got character, you won't go far.
P.S. I can't wait for this fight, both could box, and both can bang. I hope they surprise us.

Re: Donaire vs. Rigondeaux, April 27th 2013 is signed
Somehow, I think that Rigondaux could cause the surprise in that one with speed and movement. Not saying he will but I don't see him as dead and burried like many of you seems to see it.
Anyway, that fight, I REALLY want to see. It will be beautiful boxing from both opposite corners.

Re: Donaire vs. Rigondeaux, April 27th 2013 is signed
This should be interesting. Donaire is going to get hit clean in this fight.
Good ole Bob sure knows how to double dip that chip.

Re: Donaire vs. Rigondeaux, April 27th 2013 is signed
Just wanted to add that most of the 32 year old Rigon's fights have been as an Amateur and only 11 fights as a Pro. I've gotta believe that there's a big difference between fighting as a Cuban Amateur and then fighting Donaire, one of the best P4P Pros in the world. Donaire is on a different level, he'll school Rigon for a few rounds before knocking him kicking.

Who is the fastest fighter Donaire has faced? And Rigo? Just curious if either guy has faced someone has fast as the other.

As much as I love this fight I feel bad for the lowblowing Mares.

give me a break
his record is far from from hall status.
Will not get without Mares, Russell &
Garcia wins. Sparking hand picked In
stable fighters on downside is not
going to do it. Also a win against a
Rigo with 11 total fights against less
than stellar opponents. There is a
reason he won a title in such few
fights the division is weak. I do like
Nonitos wins against Vic 2007 and
and Montiel in February 2011 . After
that his opponents have been
marginal hand picked fighters with
500 percent win -loss records in last
few fights. All safe easy fights. Now
he needs to cement his legacy
against current top fighters not has
been resume fluffing foes.

Montiel February 2011. Nonitos opponents have beeb
We'll just have to agree to disagree. It's not worth an argument.

Just curious if none of Nonitos opponents has been a P4P or ATG candidate himself how can you cement a legacy? Not arguing I like your wit....

Re: Donaire vs. Rigondeaux, April 27th 2013 is signed
Apparently the only thing left to do is for Donaire to sign his end of the contract according to Gary Hyde

I think Rigo gives him much more probs than Mares and love this fight!

Re: Donaire vs. Rigondeaux, April 27th 2013 is signed
I got rigo for this one. I'll explain why. Donaire gets hit just a bit much too much for my taste. This is puzzling considering he loves to give angles and is seldom in the pocket for too long.
Rigo is hard to hit and yes in his last fight he got hit with a few hard clean left hooks, which I think is the main reason people have picked Donaire over him. An understandable and logical reason but a technically sound and cerebral fighter like Guillermo will adjust for that.
So if you take away Donaire's main weapon which is the left hook and he has been prone to be a bit left hook happy last few fights, what will he do? pump the jab and win rounds or do what he did against Nishioka? Try to bait the opponent to open up? I somehow doubt anyone can get Rigondeaux to open up if he doesn't want to.
Also Donaire does get bored easily and loses focus and concentration mid to later rounds, Rigo on the other hand is always poised and in focus.
I have no idea how well of a chin Donaire is sporting but he might get hit with a few hard bombs later on to score a flash KD or two.
All in all I really like this fight because I can see a reasonable argument for both men to win but I'm still leaning towards Rigo for this one gents.

Very logical and you make a lot of good points. I'm still pretty much up in the air about it and probably won't decide until the day of the fight. I agree that it is tough to pick a winner.
