Golovkin is the future of the MW division!
The divison is re-igniting with the likes of Quillan, Pirog, Geale etc
One man stands out though (Here he is defeating Andre Direll and Gregorz Proksa):

Golovkin is the real deal...

Isn't he the present? He's already top 5.

He is all wrong for Sergio. Great champion but GG by KO.

Maybe but he's getting a bit long in the tooth now and the likes of Macklin were able to hold there own against him! I don't think it will happen though, Martinez is considering retirement...
Other than Martinez i don't see anyone beating him! Pirog v GGG is what i want to see.
-
Re: Golovkin is the future of the MW division!
I'd set up a Golovkin-Martinez megamatch with a fight between Golovkin and JCC Jr.
-
Golovkin for me is prob 1 ov or the most exciting fighters across every weight division.hope he gets the big fights he deserves this year.would love to see him in with Martinez but can't see him taking that fight but fingers crossed.
-
Re: Golovkin is the future of the MW division!
I think people are jumping way ahead with GGG. He looks very promising, but so far his best win is over Gregorz Proksa, who was probably just barely top ten when he fought him. I'm rooting for Rosado this weekend, but realistically, I expect Golovkin to steamroll him. Then what? How about a Macklin, Barker level guy. Quillin has already ducked him and will continue to do so. He hasn't earned a fight with Martinez yet, and frankly, I don't expect Martinez to get in the ring with Golovkin anytime soon. Martinez caught the public's attention really only in his last fight. He'll fight Murray, probably win, and then face Junior again this year. If he loses, maybe they do it again. If he wins, he retires. Floyd won't fight him. Canelo won't fight him. Cotto shouldn't fight him. Junior is the only other money fight.
By the way, I've read Pirog is semi-retired. I doubt we see him fight on tv again.

Southpaw Proksa would beat Barker!
I think the manner in which GGG defeated Proksa sent out a message! Proksa is no bum! Let's not forget Proksa beat the snot out of Sebastian Sylvester who took both Daniel Geale and Roman Karmazin to a SD!
Kassim Ouma? How many have stopped him? Taylor couldn't stop him! The Saul Roman and Bundrage fights were close affairs! The highly rated Vanes Martirosyan had a hard time with him too!
GGG has the goods to be a great MW! Watch him KO Lucian Bute here:

Rantcatrat was already a Proska fan. Barker is a great Boxer though who would make him look as ordinary as GG did.

Not so sure..
He should fight Macklin.
Your thoughts on Quillan?
-
Barker is a fantastic boxer and Macklin is a great fighter, they really should finally get in the ring. It has all the ingredients of a classic. In the UK it would have a more than healthy gate and TV audience.

Re: Golovkin is the future of the MW division!
Your thoughts on his upcoming fight with Rosado please guys? Easy nights work?
-
Re: Golovkin is the future of the MW division!
Yup, easy night for GGG. Rosado has no pedigree at 160lbs, and wasn't a beast at 154lbs. GGG will stalk him and finish him with ease.
-
Re: Golovkin is the future of the MW division!
His next fight is on Box Nation this weekend!
-
Re: Golovkin is the future of the MW division!
Lets not look past Gabe Rosado just yet. Yes, he's coming up from 154 against a very big punching MW, but he is a smooth boxer and gutsy fighter.
Since his early TKO loss to Angulo a few years back, Rosado has come back strong and improved greatly.
He's hungry and he's not about to lay down for Golovkin.
-

True, but Golovkin is still going to rain on Rosado's parade and spoil his appetite.
cheers Hulkster

I agree with this. I see Golovkin as a force but also a frontal fighter at 30 yrs of age who is only now hitting world wide exposure, not to mention yet to go a full 10 rounds on a high level. I want to see him do outstanding but first walk, jog, run, sprint..if you get my drift. I really don't think Quillin is 'ducking' him though. Both are at a peak and Quillin is riding some well earned exposure also with a similiar Rosado match up himself vs Guerrero set for NBC..and having already beat Rosado. Fingers crossed that these two will cross paths in near future!
I like Rosado and am a convert. He is extremely tv friendly and packed full of swagger. I do see Golo breaking him down though as Rosado is no stranger to after thought punches and has been rocked hard even after Angulo rebuild. He can box but exchanges way to much and his feet cross like a new born calf when he is pressed. He'll go out hard but I think in the end he will go out.

I'm in the minority but I'm right behind Peter Quillin at the moment, I think he's top class. It might change though as I haven't seen enough of GGG yet to make an informed opinion. I will be watching Saturday night though and I'm fully expecting an impressive performance.

You and me both.
Golovkin would be the 2nd big name on JCC Jr's resume... not too much to ask from someone with almost 50 pro fights. ;)

Remember when Quillin was talking a ton of trash trying to get the Martinez fight. Now he has a belt and he won't fight the current up-and-coming guy, Golovkin. Smacks of hypocracy. I wasn't being harsh saying Quillin is ducking him. I doubt he's afraid of any man. At the same time, it's a smashing fight that Quillin can win because he has a huge punch. It's also a natural fight between two champions. Let's make it happen!

@Greenbeanz and @Dia bando - Perhaps, but first the Argentine will send another fighter from the UK back bloodied and disfigured when he decapitatates Martin Murray in April. For the record, that will mark his third time recently doing so. What does Sergio Martinez have against you guys anyway? ;D Bitter about the Falkland Islands?
-
Hardly I have just described him as a GREAT champion. Sergio was given problems early on by both Macklin and Barker because he is slowing. He looked great against Chavez Jr because Chavez is nowhere near as good a boxer.

Sergio is more Light-middle and was European Champ and world Champ, he was also based in Spain
a few years back. Golovkin is a beast a excellent boxer, when he fights you no his opponent is going down, and up to now has not disappointed.;)

A friend of mine got killed on The Sir Galahad, he was in The Welsh Guards I doubt Rantcatrat meant

Re: Golovkin is the future of the MW division!
Damn I hope this cable guy gets here in time so I can watch GGG back in action. This guy is not the future he is the NOW!! If Golovkin and Martinez got in the ring tomorrow I think Golovkin can take it. He is a precise power punching machine.
I dont think that fight will happen ever much less the next two years, Martinez and his team must k now that GGG is the real deal.
-
I think on rereading that @Rantcatrat was referring to Sergio always fighting Brits. It's because Barker, and Macklin were good opposition. Beatable but quality guys who would give him a fight. No doubting Martinez cajones. Murray will be just as tough but is not as good a boxer as Barker or Macklin so Sergio may stop him early. GG reminds me of an old school guy, like Armstrong or SRR he has tremendous KO power and a great boxing brain.
-
Re: Golovkin is the future of the MW division!
Golovkin is an excellent fighter but is overrated (imo). He is very heavy handed but not Julian Jackson.
I reckon he'd look bamboozled by Martinez style, and his static head is ripe to be blasted from all angles. I even think a Macklin level guy putting constant pressure on him would give him problems. I see a Kostya Tszyu-Vince Phillips moment for him.

I can only see Martinez on a heap on the floor, Sergio has been on the canvas a good few time's, if he face's
Golovkin will KO him with in 6 rounds , and I feel make it look easy forget the Brit pack he will eat them alive sorry to say it.! Seen many Middle- weight Champions over the years, and I feel Golovkin a bit
special .;)

Pavlik was a relentless, heavy handed stalker, and he didn't fare too well against Martinez.

To be honest Golovkin would have cleaned Pavlik's clock remember he was a outstanding amateur,
way more talent than Pavlik, just look at him ko Bute etc.
Golovkin is a fearsome fighter, old school if JCC,jr had Martinez badly hurt imagine what Golovkin will
do to Sergio,! the answer ko him simple.;)

You sure are confident about a fighter that took 5 rounds to stop Proksa, 7 rounds to force a corner stoppage against Rosado and went 10 rounds with Ouma.
Surely you accept Martinez is in a different league to those guys? Martinez has the ability to crack shots into his big static head, that's when we'll see how good Golovkin really is.
I too have seen many middleweight champions over the years. He doesn't look anything super special.
We'll see though ;)
