Pound for Pound BIG punchers
I hesitate to say of all time because it hasn't run out yet but some examples please Gents. Lets start near the beginning with English welterweight "Legend" and I use that word advisedly TED "Kid" Lewis
Here he is at 146lb against 200 lb Heavyweight Tom Gummer
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=igrFaBqfdx4
and again against the much better known French Heavy Georges Carpentier a fight which despite being at a distinct weight disadvantage Ted could well have won were it not for George's Mayweatheresque*sucker punch whilst the ref tries to stop George holding
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qREan6cpJyk
* Floyd of course did not need a suckerpunch to prove his dominance of Ortiz and technically it could be seen as a perfectly legitimate consequence of Victor acting like a douche but that's the job of another thread to discuss

Jackson definitely could bang and should be included in any list of BIG punchers. The images you can't see are youtube video of Ted "Kid" Lewis fights. If you are not in the UK from where I posted them you may not be able to view them directly because each country has its own rules about YouTube material or if you are using a mobile that might explain it.
Here is another one not sure if it will be any different but gotta be worth a try

John Mugabi had more than a tickle on him.

Re: Pound for Pound BIG punchers
Wilfredo Gomez, one hell of a KO artist at Super Bantam a beast only lost to the best, at Feather and
Super Feather, very exciting to watch.;)

It is easy to forget him because of the era he fought in because of Hearns, Leonard Duran Et AL but he could really bang and gave Hagler a hell of a fight

Julian jackson is a must, also gerald mclellan. And probably get some stick but prince naz was a demon puncher.

Re: Pound for Pound BIG punchers
Any p4p big punchers list starts with Julian Jackson. There's no one p4p who even comes close to having the kind of power The Hawk had in BOTH hands.
Wilfredo BAZOOKA Gomez deseves recognition too. People remember him for his war and TKO loss to the great Salvador Sanchez, but he was a fierce heavy handed bomber with 42 KOs in 44 fights.
Prince Naseem is another small guy with HUGE power in both hands.

Not a chance. The only advantage Jackson has over them is film footage and highlight reels.

The only advantage they have over Jackson is a) fighting in a time where you could fight a ton of guys who had no business being in the ring and b) not having film footage and highlight reels, so all we have to judge them by is sensationalized newspaper headlines, old guys who wanna tell you about how it was "BACK IN MY DAY" and hyperbole spewed by huckster "historians" who want to show you how far back their knowledge goes.
If you wanna say some skinny white guy from the 20's hit harder than Julian Jackson, then I will say GOOD DAY TO YOU SIR.
Job Biscuit Eh!! Eh!!

Re: Pound for Pound BIG punchers
Only 25% of Jimmy Wilde's opponents had winning records.
Jimmy Wilde STINKS.

Then good day to you sir because that's exactly what I'm saying. If you are going to use this phantom p4p equation its not even close. And to your following post, so what if x amount of fighters had winning records. When you fight once a week you can lose. If one were to factor in the 3 to 6 hundred fights not listed at boxrec its a runaway.
As to "job biscuit eh eh" I don't follow.
Modern day Jackson or Valero. All time no biscuit.

Re: Pound for Pound BIG punchers
If you fed Julian that kind of opposition he'd have a 100% KO ratio.
Hell I'd say even ol' cotton fist Paulie Malignaggi would have been over 60%.
I'm sick of these old fossils getting a free ride!

Re: Pound for Pound BIG punchers
Fat Dan had a go at a current list.
Nicholas Walters?
1. Gennady Golovkin (33-0, 30 KOs)
2. Sergey Kovalev (28-0-1, 25 KOs)
3. Wladimir Klitschko (64-3, 54 KOs)
4. Roman Gonzalez (43-0, 37 KOs)
5. Deontay Wilder (35-0, 34 KOs)
6. Miguel Cotto (40-4, 33 KOs)
7. Lucas Matthysse (37-4, 34 KOs)
8. Keith Thurman (26-0, 22 KOs)
9. David Lemieux (34-2, 31 KOs)
10. Andy Lee (34-2-1, 24 KOs)

I remember going to a Bruno fight with some friends, ranting and raving about the power of Mugabi who was fighting on the undercard.
Mugabi's fight duly lasted a round... He was flattened by this fairly unknown American; Gerald McClellan!

Don't know whether that list is in order.... but I would pick my top two as Kovalev and Gonzalez.

Re: Pound for Pound BIG punchers
Golovkin is heavy handed but not a big single puncher like Adonis Stevenson who is the biggest puncher today.
-
Re: Pound for Pound BIG punchers
Some good names up there, guys. Here's some more for debate;
Joe Louis
Stanley Ketchell
Khoisai Galaxy
Nigel Benn
Tommy Hearns .... of course!
Bob Foster
Aaron Pryor
Edwin Valero
Everyone will soon say Earnie Shavers, but for those of you that are more knowledgeable than the average (big ugly) bear,
Bob Satterfield
Why has nobody mentioned Archie Moore?
Ike Williams
Daniel Ponce de Leon
Sandy Saddler
Look up Lamar Clark too, I think he went something like 45 straight KOs. I could fight my granny 45 times, and I'm sure she would survive a few of them.

Re: Pound for Pound BIG punchers
Fat Dan needs Randall Bailey on that list??? might have geared 'BIG' towards name status as well as single shot pop.

So true right there, so many guys missed the buzz and ease of visibility we have today. Shame Watanabe opted out of mandatory defense and gave up belt instead of meeting Galaxy in Japan, may have helped propel Galaxy to more exposure.

Khoisai Galaxy chinny?
A bit, in part down to the massive offence and thus leaky defence.
