Was shocking to see him fold from a pretty routine punch from Thompson,He may have power but that was a bad loss to a 41 year old journeyman.
He needs to get back in the ring soon,to. Try to rebuild his confidence.
Opinions please!

Randomly i was thinking at start of fight whats going to happen when he gets caught clean..... And there it was thompson is no destroyer and looked in terrible shape. Hes got a long road back to world level. Its ok when hes beating up has beens and never beens mabey maloney rushed him a bit. Ill never forget olympics when in a similar fashion he folded against camareli and i said then he had no chin and would struggle as a pro.
Exactly as you say.. It was a pretty shocking way to go out all things considered, doesn't bode well for him at all. I don't think you can even compare it to the early losses of Lennox or Wladimir, for instance; he responded terribly to a pretty mediocre shot from a guy who isn't a puncher. The way he just collapsed and went fetal, and never really showed any urgency to clear his head was fairly odd to me, almost as if he mentally accepted that he was done as soon as he went down.
Getting right back into swing would obviously serve him well, but he needs to be very careful with who he takes on for a good while at least. You can't get by with absolutely no punch resistance as a HW and still be an offensive fighter, and I'm not sure he's good enough to really adopt a different approach entirely. Won't be any shortage of guys fancying their chances that's for sure.
We all knew this would happen.
Price needs to build some serious shoulder/neck muscles. Otherwise just quit.
I am devistated about his loss, but I dnt wanna see him return and get kod again.
Getting wobbled by a punch you dont see is one thing , even taking a count, but to be stopped by that punch was very very shocking.
He was sort of curled up in a heap for about 4 seconds before he tried to get to his feet.
If you havent seen the fight its on youtube.
We said it would tell us alot about Price , well it told us he has power , speed , size , and poor punch resistance.
He should have known better, I think price will fight a couple of bums now like khan would.
I think fury should call his fight off and smash Thompson in 2.
Price may not have the best chin in the World,! but in HW boxing anything can happen theses a large
individuals all there punches hurt. Am I surprised he got KO, not really as rebuilding himself what
level I'm not sure. Remember Wald Klit has tasted defeat , so you never no do you.!;)
Peter Fury has called Thompson "an old nobody" and then said that he wants Tyson to fight him after Cunningham. That tells you all you need to know about Fury.
You are right Dia. I have seen many a fighter go down from an innocuous looking temple punch and then usually find their feet again. The huge size of both fighters last night was a factor in Price being unable to get up and maybe he is too fragile for the pro game, but I am not writing him off yet. He has been caught a few times in his short pro career and not been wobbled so we will have to see. He made a rookie mistake and paid for it but he could learn from it and come back a better fighter. He has the firepower to get most people out of there, so we will see.
Gotta love fury then. Wants to make a statement but beating prices conqueror! That's how ya do it. Klits can learn from this
Thompson vs fury is now a fight thats makes sense in a business factor, mabey the fury camp do think hes a bum but now that is a marketable fight. Business.
Accidents happen, a lot of even the best Heavyweights have been knocked out/stopped on the way up, and even for some, when in the midst of their peak run.
The problem Price has, is his chin has let him down before.
But he is an excellent offensive fighter, who uses his physical tools well. Maybe he needs to look at someone like Wlad to find an example of how to deal with a potentially soft chin.
On the plus side; in the warped boxing world we live in, maybe this defeat could open the door to good money fights. If the likes of Fury et al feel even if behind on the scorecards that one bomb on Price's chin wins them the fight, maybe they will do business.
Price is going to have to live with this defeat, it will always be thrown in his face by some. He has to deal with that, but providing he can get over any doubts he has, it should not be a huge issue.
A 16 fight prospect taking a merciless beating is potentially damaging; a 16 fight prospect walking into a punch from a pretty decent fighter, is, providing the fighter gets over it psychologically, at worse a bit embarrassing.
Ol greenbeenz getting all hissy;D
Iv said this all along! Prices level of opponents were dropping after sexton, not getting better. Then Maloney has a bright spark and throws him in with Thompson. I said it had the potential to tits up and Maloney would regret it.
There was a few times he's looked vulnerable, against sexton a couple of times and against skelton. It just showed me he's there for the taking if someone was just willing to get in close and punch with him.
He isn't a wrecking machine, he looked flummoxed how to get past Thompson's pawing jab.
Just because you think Fury is a twat dosnt mean he hasnt learnt a hell of a lot more about how to actually fight and the pro game than Price. If they had fought each other last night, it would have been even funnier because Furys post fight interview telling us he told us he'd smash Price, who was a big stiff idiot, would have made you even more hissy;D
Who does Price have to fight now, does he double back and face old opponents or face other American heavyweights.
Long-long way off a heavyweight shot.
Fallout from this fight will make or break Price, I am doubtful if he can be a Championship contender after this.
He's back to domestic level again now and Fury will probably march on into a beating from Wlad now.
What is most worrying is that it wasn't even a flush shot to the chin, it was a clubbed shot. I'm sure it hurt more than it looked, but you would expect a heavyweight champ to be able to take a shot like that and recover.
wait a minute---price got ko'ed???? Im goin to youtube to see it. be right back.
Price needs to get a new trainer imo. He needs to develope a ram rod jab instead he seems to paw with it alot. Needs to use his size better there was no need to be on the inside with thompson and when he got there he was made to look foolish with throwing a uppercut and with his left hand down by his side silly mistake to make and paid the price. He showed inexperience on his part to jump straight back up when he was in wonderland.
Are you taking the piss?
Did you not realise he was being counted while he was rolling round on his back?
If he hadnt got up when he did he would have been counted out while still on the deck. Maybe that would have been slightly less ambarrasing than getting up and wobbling like Khan all over the shop proving how badly his senses were scrambled.
Just watched the Thompson Vs Price fight! What a shock! 41 year old Thompson knocked out 29 year old Price, in round two with a right hook! The right hook didn't even look that explosive. Thompson didn't even look in great shape. Looked to me he was carrying a few to many pounds around his abdominals. So price isn't so good defending against a south paw stance! And the rumours about Price having a glass jaw seem to be true.
Price is going to have to go away, and rethink his approach now. He's going to have to tighten his defence.
No dout this would of given Thompson a confidence boost, which will re spark his ambition, or give him even more ambition. I wonder who Thompson may go on to fight next.
I now will have to rethink how I think the Price Vs Fury fight will go!
ok just saw it---punch looked dodgy. not too sharp. i am amazed. this guy got the Gerry Cooney hype and now it all came down didnt it.
Canelo Alvarez will have the same deal. Very soon.
When Price turned pro it was common knowledge he had a china chin and loads of "experts" said it would hold him back. Over the past couple of years, the doubt about his chin has faded because he's looked so impressive destroying people.
Easy with hindsight - but it was only a matter of time before he got ironed out.
He was almost like a turtle stuck on his back when he got knocked down! ;D
I think we will see Price back soon against a nobody with little punching power to build his confidence much like Khan after Prescott. Then after getting a couple easy win together have a showdown with Fury or Chisora.
It's a shame I really wanted someone to KO Fury before he get's a title shot, he doesn't deserve the payday.
I'd like to see Price Vs Chisora. Going by Prices performance in this last fight. Price would have to use his hight and reach advantage over Chisora. Price would also have to keep his jaw well protected. If Chisora caught Price with one of his over arm rights...Could see the same outcome of yesterdays fight, Price on the canvas.
I still like Price though. Hope he gets over this quick.
I don't know the history of his chin in ama. etc but what is he weighing? Looks like he needs to seriously hit the weight room and could pack on 15, 20 lbs. Has a very awkward upper body leanback that leaves his body exposed. Very early but he doesn't look like he has that natural smoothness (?!) to turn boxer off jab to compensate for a thin chin.
I think he needs to fight Chisora, that will be a tough test for Price but I don't think it will prove much if he knocks out an easy opponent again. He needs to keep testing himself. I do think the shot that landed was a lucky shot and I think if Thompson landed on that on Prices chin he wouldn't have gone down. The shot landed on the eardrum and perforated the eardrum and he lost his balance, it could have happened to any fighter. But Price shouldn't have allowed Thompson to land the shot. But Price took the loss like a man and he will learn from it and I think he will bounce back. Price will have to work on his defence but this is a disappointing set back for Price.
I read Frank Maloney went to hospital after the fight, that's not good to hear, does anybody know how he's getting on? I hope he makes a fast recovery.
I hope Thompson's weight gain and KO of Price doesn't lead to a crop of lard assed heavyweights. I'm just thinking ahead and saying.......
Thompson's Theorem states that the waves of rolling fat produced by punches are acting as shock absorbers. It's a radical concept, but seems to be working for Thompson.
Thompson says he's going to pack another 30-40 pounds and make another run at Wlad.
You certainly wasn't alone.
All i'm saying is - The upside of impressively ironing fighters out was enough to take attention off his achilles heel. I think that's a reasonable observation to make.
(I backed Audley, Sexton and Fat John to KO him. I didn't back Thompson)
A half punch from a good puncher and David folded like a deck of cards , its not the getting knocked out , it happens in HW boxing , it was the way he went down , the punch didnt look that big a shot , its difficult to see how Price will get over this .
He needs to get back in the ring as soon as possible , he can KO any fighter in europe if he hits them cleanly , however at world level at some point he will be tagged , and that is a big worry for the Price camp.
A lot of similarities with Amir Khan really. Great amateur pedigree. Good boxer, solid puncher. No chin.
That's HW boxing for you. Unless you last name is McCall, Chuvalo or Mercer you certainly can be stopped with one punch. We're talking about a 250lb guy who really only lost to Wlad before, with 25 KO's in 37 wins. You get hit with the right punch from a guy like that and you're going on your ass, no question.
Price is at a crossroads now that we've seen HUNDREDS of fighters at before. Either he'll learn from the experience and become better for it, or he'll go to shit before he really even hit his prime. Hopefully it's the former, as HW boxing really needs a big, strong guy like him in the ranks.
