North Korea threatens to use nukes against the U.S.
Wow, the North Korean Government/military has gone berserk:
"North Korea threatened the United States on Thursday with a preemptive nuclear strike, raising the level of rhetoric just before the U.N. Security Council approved new sanctions against the reclusive country. "

Re: North Korea threatens to use nukes against the U.S.
The threat is for domestic consumption only. The fat kid in charge needs to assert himself and look powerful hence the threat. They don't have the technology to minaturise a bomb to fit in a warhead, never mind build an ICBM that could hit America. And they'll never get it either.
-
Re: North Korea threatens to use nukes against the U.S.
They could threaten the US via Seoul but other than that they'll just have to sit there and take what we give them.
-
Re: North Korea threatens to use nukes against the U.S.
Even North Korea's only friend, China, is beginning to lose patience with them.
Great political strategy, by the way.
Make empty threats you cannot fulfill, and get yourself even more ostracized by the civilized world.

Long have they toiled in digging that hole for themselves...if there was ever an end to the cease fire North Korea would get the shit slapped out of it. Their people want FOOD not war...besides 100% of North Korea's nukes equals maybe 6-9 KT (say the South Koreans, the Germans say its more like 40). It would suck to get hit with that, but the United States could turn North Korea into a greasy stain on the map should we wish to unleash nukes.
Its just typical, a leader trying to show off and look good to his people who don't fucking know any better because they have no frame of reference due to the propaganda and lack of relevant information from other countries.

Kirk,
You feeling ok? Lyle just posted twice in a thread w/o you telling him he was wrong. I'm not sure what I can believe in anymore if you don't come in here and argue over some semantics not to mention counter with charts and graphs of course.

Re: North Korea threatens to use nukes against the U.S.
Fat-Sun IL is talking through his ass. The only dangerous thing fromNorth Korea is that they have crazy soldiers, for the rest, they can barely feed them correctly. LEt him talk as much as he wants, he won't neither attack South Korea because he knows that what would come to him would starve the whole country within a month.

Agreed, but the U.S. can't afford to take these NK nuke threats lightly.

Kirk probably believes that Bush and the republicans are responsible for North Korea's response. Give him a chance to do some intelligence gathering, he should join the thread shortly.

Lyle made a relevant point in one of the posts but I'd already made it.

I'd drink Duvel but I'll be starting drinking around 8pm tomorrow and getting back home to watch the fights about 2. If I start tipping 8.5% bubbly beer on top of existing consumtion it'll be a real struggle to make it through the main event. So probably something relatively weak and tasty like Pilsner Urquell. My brother dropped off a case of some ale that he says is tasty and it's a session beer but I don't even know what it is yet. I'll probably try it when I'm sober though.

Re: North Korea threatens to use nukes against the U.S.
Personally it always cracks me up when North Americans get really worked up about North Korea. It is all just rhetoric and nothing ever happens (almost). It seems unless you live in constant fear then you have no right to live and most of the people under the most 'threat' barely pay it any attention and I kind of agree with that. North Americans with their terrorists and fears. Always fear and panic. What are you scared of Mars? According to polls South Koreans fear America more than North Korea and I bet that applies globally. Clean up your own yard first after all Hiroshima was not carried out by North Korea and North Korea is not invading anyone else. They do however, treat their people like shit and that sucks. Only despicable nations torture and kill people without being charged with crimes.
Harsher UN sanctions for nuclear testing is just absurd. I mean look at the numbers of nuclear tests carried out in history by numerous nations, some in massive numbers and plenty of those nations rogue, and suddenly North Korea is mad and out of control. Terrible yes, but apply the same standards to all, and on more than nukes. If you steal my schoolbag too you can be sure I will call you 'cunt' and will shout a bit. Then a gang will come and beat me up properly. That is global politics. It is just about who is louder and stronger. Most just want to get on with life and do. It is a few bullies who want to control who are the issue. Telling them, 'do it our way, change your hair, and let us control your dinner money' isn't an option. Real change takes serious intentions and time investment.
I would urge the US to keep out and let China control this as China at least knows how to speak to North Korea. They know how to talk to the kid without making him stomp his feet too much and it is just grandstand footstomping at best. He knows he will be alright as he stole pretty much everything from the year below and knows he is tidied over. There is no point hurting all them more as well. Time and patience, teach the kid that better things can happen to those that evolve. Otherwise, it is just the status quo for now. If North Korea is to ever change it is the China model first. Not that I like the model, but it is the way it is.

Re: North Korea threatens to use nukes against the U.S.
You Gandlaf, being the closest Saddo to this madman that we have got, feel it my duty to tell you we feel you need to make a commitment to world peace and go and get an interview with this little bloke. All you need is a bic pen and paper and ask him to sign a autograph for us his dedicated followers. As he reaches for the pen stab him in the jugular with it as many times as possible until they wrestles you to the ground and deport you back to Sth Korea for being in a state of Ambivalence; which Im certain is another State they have outlawed and openly declared war on.
You as a Briton in exile will out shine the infamy of even Oscar Wilde.

Re: North Korea threatens to use nukes against the U.S.
Yes, definitely a trap. One should always be suspicious of using assasination as a means of accumulating exiled infamy. I see the nukes still haven't been activated, but still a lot of media blather. You have to sell adverts to people and North Korea in its own way is a money spinner.

Everyone should memorise the quotes and think about them anytime they try to contemplate consistency and honesty in US foreign policy. Such concepts don't really exist. These are facts so obvious that only mad people could fail to notice. Mad people and people who only discover they have finger nails at the age of 37 or maps.

I only found out recently that they have no internet, only a restricted intranet, no free press and everything is closed off.

Re: North Korea threatens to use nukes against the U.S.
What they really plan to do is invade and take over the White House, take the President hostage, grab some secret codes, and detonate all the nukes in their silos.... thus destroying the U.S. But alas.... they'll be foiled by a super Secret Service agent.
