JMM vs. Bradley on now more than ever...
Been saying it for years that JMM would beat him based on his style and previous performances. I always said he should challenge him and get that 4th title.
I got bashed by several people saying Bradley would be a whirl wind for JMM.
Too young and his pressure style would get him the win.
I think no stage of Bradley beats JMM not the Bradley of 3 yrs ago 2 yrs ago or 1 yr ago.
Even more so after last night JMM must be licking his chops saying bring him on.
I really hope it get's done it will be a glorious day for JMM and just keep adding to his already all time great legacy.
Thoughts on that fight if it happens?

I didn't watch Bradley's lastest fight, but i never thought Bradley would beat JMM. I've said before he's a good all rounder but he doesn't do any one thing great. In all honestly im going to go out on a limb and say JMM is a different class to Bradley.
Bradley maybe a good counter puncher but nowhere in JMM's league. JMM does everything better than Bradley pretty much and it wouldn't suprise me if it was a little one sided.
BTW is Timothy Bradley's last fight worth watching ?

Re: JMM vs. Bradley on now more than ever...
Bradley's last fight is definitely worth watching, I posted some highlights in the main thread
I see more potential of JMM/ Bradley happening now after how Bradley looked last night
I'd favour Marquez

Re: JMM vs. Bradley on now more than ever...
I agree with you however I do think that it will be very difficult for Marquez to get up mentally for a fight ever again the way he did for Manny. Everything else for him from that 4th fight on is almost anticlimactic.
Its a weird situation from a promotional standpoint also. If Manny's heart is still in it, he no doubt wants another Marquez fight and Marquez's press blurbs saying there is no reason for a 5th fight is imo a smoke screen. He's basically telling Arum that it is he who would demand the 20 million paid to Manny if there was to be a fifth. The pay day for Marquez is simply to big to pass up. Its also puzzling to me that Manny has not demanded a rematch with Bradley which could be made over the phone.

@ICB I agree on all your points. JMM does everything better.
JMM has faced guys like Diaz & Katsidis who have very similar styles to Bradley.
The fight is already being labeled FOTY (so far) and will be a contender by years end.
It's a good scrap where Ruslan would lose rds but before the end of the rd he would somehow hurt or rock Bradley. It's defintely worth the watch.

Right on @Galaxy completely agree...
I'm sure JMM was watching saying "Bring him on"

Re: JMM vs. Bradley on now more than ever...
I have never been a big Bradley fan so maybe I am not the most objective person to comment but he did show another dimension last night. Against a poor man's Tszyu he struggled at times but showed some real heart and did not resort to head butting his way to a decision. :-\ Tszyu was a lot more educated in the way he cut off the ring and dictated the space left for his opponents than Providinikov but Ruslan still managed to hurt Bradley more in close up exchanges than Tim could him. This should have been a breeze for the bulbous headed one but the underdog had tore up the script. If Bradley gets in the ring with Juan he won't have to wait for the end of the 12th to get a decision. He will realise what has happened shortly after regaining consciousness somewhere in the middle rounds.

Re: JMM vs. Bradley on now more than ever...
Thanks guys i'll be sure to watch it tomorrow, does anyone else think style wise this could be a very good match up ?
As for the other comment regarding Pacquiao, i don't see why Marquez needs a 5th fight when he's beat Pacquiao 4 times with the last fight being a convincing KO.
Infact i think JMM could mop up both Rios and Bradley.

Its all about economics. I thought it was a perfect fight for Marquez to retire on.

Re: JMM vs. Bradley on now more than ever...
Great match up for sure; I'm going with Bradley in an upset unanimous decision.

Re: JMM vs. Bradley on now more than ever...
It's a simple case of a great fighter (Marquez) beating a good fighter (Bradley)
-
Re: JMM vs. Bradley on now more than ever...
I have respect for Bradley, was going to bat for him when most others were on about the headbutts...the "ducking" Khan, inactivity and straight up being a common bore...but he isn't hanging with Marquez in a firefight. Too physical, too accurate and on another level. Good scrap but JMM stronger down the stretch.
Tim has always had a solid chin and but I do think its showing a crack. His heart will never give. Provo is a good puncher but the level at which Bradley was short circuited time after time is worrisome.

I'd love it, i've gotta believe JMM waxes Bradley's ass, it would be a great fight.

Re: JMM vs. Bradley on now more than ever...
Pacman vs Marquez is the fight that should happen (again) . But Marquez vs Bradley would be great also. Funny how nobody (including me) was interested in the 4th Marquez-Manny fight, and now the majority of boxing fans wants to see a fifth fight between them

Pacquiao needs to stay away from Marquez. Far away. A 5th fight would be very bad for him. Just look at all the fights. It's all Marquez proving points. He goes down 3 times in the first round of the first fight. He rallies back from the disaster round to beat Pacquiao. But has to settle for the draw. Marquez knows he won but accepted the draw cuz he knew going down 3 times carried a lot of weight against him. So he avoids the disaster round in the 2nd fight and beats Pacquiao again. But this time he gets the loss. Marquez knows he was robbed again but took some of the blame cuz even though he avoided going down 3 times he did go down once. And that was on him. So he said fuck going down and out boxed Pacquiao to a clear-cut win in the 3rd fight. But gets robbed yet again and takes another L. So Marquez said fuck the judges and fuck going 12 rounds and puts Pacquiao to sleep in the 4th fight. Can't robbed that win from him. His buisness with Pacquiao is done. Atleast it should be. Marquez does not need to prove any more points. The next point will be him killing Pacquiao. And eventhough I would love to see that happen to his moronic fan base I rather it not happen to him, himself

Re: JMM vs. Bradley on now more than ever...
It's a cracking matchup, but I feel people are going a little mad on the back of Bradley's downright bizarre performance. That wasn't how Bradley usually fights and you sense he went in there with little respect for his opponent. He adapted and got away with it after the initial hole he dug for himself.
Marquez himself was down against Manny before finding that homerun. He was looking slower, was getting busted up, and up until that point I was worried about him. Bradley is just as quick as Manny, but unlike Manny can fight in a truly versatile manner. He simply wouldn't wade in there with no respect for Marquez and at 40 I see him outhustling Marquez for a decision.
I can see Bradley going down, but keeping him there? Mind you, I say that by thinking about Bradley prior to the woozy post fight interview. I didn't like what I was seeing there.
If there was any time to fight Bradley I guess this might to the most apt of timings. If Bradley is really okay, I think it is a massive fight to make, and can really see him taking Marquez all the way for a typical Bradley decision.

I only want to see a 5th fight to see what Pacman have left. Whether he's punch drunk or pulling his punches. I always want to see if JMM can get up for another Pacman fight. JMM was juiced for that 4th fight.

Re: JMM vs. Bradley on now more than ever...
I know Bob Arum have other plans, but Keith Thurman is #1 mandatory for Bradley's title?
AN NEW . . . . WBO Champion
-
Re: JMM vs. Bradley on now more than ever...
I'd take JMM any day of the week in that one.
And that's no knock on Bradley, who I think is a fantastic fighter and has the heart of a lion.
I just see JMM countering the hell out of him all night and stifling his punch output.
-
Re: JMM vs. Bradley on now more than ever...
JMM gotta get old sooner or later. Hopefully it's later because at his best Marquez beats the crap outta Timmy.
-
Re: JMM vs. Bradley on now more than ever...
Last week or maybe two weeks ago I was reading Arum saying that he'd like to match Manny and JMM with Bradley and Rios. I think a Manny rematch with Bradley sells and JMM-Rios also sells and that's what I thought would happen. But now I'm thinking it was just Arum double bluffing JMM and I think JMM fights Manny again this September. Guaranteed huge event and massive paydays all round for Manny, JMM and Arum.
If they do fight JMM beats Bradley. I think we'll more likely see a Bradley Provodnikov rematch though. It depends if Arum has options on Provodnikov because if he doesn't Golden Boy will offer Provodnikov's promoter a bunch of fights. Can you imagine Provodnikov versus Maidana? :)

The whole thing appears a big bluff to me. JMM is only saying he doesn't want Manny to drive his payday up, just as Cotto did for Margarito II. The only reason Arum is suggesting other options is to make JMM think Arum has other plans. His only plan is JMM-Pac V because it makes the most money.

I agree with Miles. This was an odd Bradley fight. I've never seen him perform like this. Not to take anything away from the Russian, but this was strange.
With regard to Marquez-Bradley, I've read that Nacho Beristain doesn't want Marquez fighting Bradley based on styles. Reading between the lines, he can see that Bradley has the potential to coast to a decision win. If I were him I would stick to that opinion because I didn't see this as a typical Bradley performance.

Re: JMM vs. Bradley on now more than ever...
I also can see Arum matching Bradley against the winner of Rios-Alvarado.
-
Bradley might be really hurt after that fight.
Who knows what that has done to him.
He needs to work on his defence and think seriously about his next opponent.
-
Re: JMM vs. Bradley on now more than ever...
Apparently there's a little tourney going on between JMM, Pac, Bradley and the winner of Rios-Alvarado... But nothing is set in stone.
I really believe JMM when he says he's not interested in another Pac fight. He is a guy who genuinely fights for his legacy. I personally believe he fights Bradley and if he wins that fight and Pac wins his comeback fight as well then they will meet again.
But I don't think it happens right now. I see JMM going in a different direction.
Let's be real here JMM is sitting in the driver seat. He can pick who he wants to fight. I also wouldn't be surprised if he's waiting to see the winner of Rios-Alvardo to decide who he fights. Although IMO fighting Rios-Alvarado doesn't really do much for his legacy.
JMM was quoted as saying "It's a possibility. Why not? I had already won that title when I defeated Pacquiao for it but the judges got it wrong. I'd love to win a 5th title. I was invited to see the fight but I'm with my family right now" in regards to fighting Bradley.

JMM is one of the best finishers in the business. Once he drops you or hurts you it's pretty much lights out for you... Like I said in 1st post if JMM hurts/drops him JMM will finish him off.

Re: JMM vs. Bradley on now more than ever...
I think Mayweather going to Showtime and HBO dumping olden Boy really increases the odds of Manny Marquez 5 this year. HBO are going to want to have at least one blockbuster PPV event this year and that's the only one they can get. If they both take an interim fight and one loses, especially if it's Manny, it decreases the value of episode five.
-
Re: JMM vs. Bradley on now more than ever...
I believe that JMM is at the end of his career and may not have the mind set to want to fight a young undefeated challenger like Bradley or Rios. JMM has probably 1 or 2 fights left and I think he wants to make them big which would be Manny and Floyd.
