Arthur Abraham vs. Robert Stieglitz, rematch - Saturday fight/chat thread

:pimp2: These will be some fights all of us Saddoites can check out, Saturday afternoon fights here in the U.S., and on at a reasonable time in the UK/Europe .:feedme:

At Magdeburg, Germany (Epix and EpixHD.com): Arthur Abraham vs. Robert Stieglitz, rematch, 12 rounds, for Abraham's WBO super middleweight title; Robert Helenius vs. Michael Sprott, 10 rounds, heavyweights; Lucas Konecny vs. Karim Achour, 12 rounds, middleweights.

It's certainly worth a look, finding a stream shouldn't be too much of a problem for us yanks/canuks or for anyone else. I love watching fights from Germany, it's "educational". I may have to drink a few German brews to get in the spirit, i'm having a Spaten Opimator at the moment, tasty stuff if you haven't had one and like Dopplebock beer.

I watch a lot of Euro streams and possess a pretty handy library but commentator wise the worst are the German and Polish commentating. I always expect a gang of goose steppers with the German callers and the Poles are a cure for insomnia.

Never been a fan of the turtle or his six minute fight plan. How that clam got into a Super 6 168 tourney will always puzzle me.

I'm much more interested in Stevenson/Boone this weekend tbh.

Germans get all dolled up for fights in Germany, and they're showy, it's comical, i'm always expecting to see Hitler at ringside. If this is shown on Epic they should have a feed in English. As for the fights, Abe vs. Stieglitz shouldn't be too bad and neither should Helenius vs. Sprott.

Abraham-Stieglitz: George Groves Returns on The Card - Boxing News

George Groves will meet Syria's Baker Barakat (37-13-4) on the card. Short notice but good to see George having 2 fights in 2 weeks, as activity is important for him right now. Another keep busy fight before he hopefully gets a decent opponent in May.

Groves will get cut or injured and have to cancel his next fight.

I didnt see it either. He needs to fight the winner of Abraham-Steiglitz, it doesnt prove anything knocking out bums every 2 weeks.

Theres a fight on before Helenius - Sprott sorry.

Not sure why but I have just not warmed to Helenius. Although he fights pretty good off the back foot for a heavyweight he still reminds me of past statues like Carnera and Willard.

In this area they are showing it on Epix. The same channel now showing Vanilla Sky :-X

did the helenius fight start?

David Price should fight Micahel Sprott. Sprott seems to be a proven mid-level gatekeeper right now. It would also allow Price to win the Londsdale belt. After his last fight I'd be worried about putting him in with Chisora.

I've only seen Helenius 4 times. I just don't see 'it'

I had Sprott winning rounds 4,5,6. 97-93 Helenius. Sprott fought gritty and hit him clean but faded. Helenius but he leaves alot to be desired.

His best bet is to wait for Vitali and Wlad to retire frankly

Helenius UD in the end, Sprott didnt work hard enough.

Helenius says he hurt his right hand in the second, he was too lazy and he doesn't know. Um, ok.

Lucky for Helenius Sprott had the hand speed of a three toed sloth. Haye should target him and use him for prep school. I think he'd decapitate him and sadly the Helenius team probably thinks it also.

I fancy Stieglitz to win the return here. Just think he's gunna outwork Abraham over 12 and possibly set up a trilogy.
